This place is a quick drive from work, so I come to this modern farmhouse style brunch spot regularly for lunch with friends. The service is very friendly and, if you tell them you need to be quick, they do a great job of keeping things moving for you to stay on schedule. The seasonal menu always offers something interesting, but the regular menu is full of good standbys, like French toast and omelettes. I had a lovely brunch here with friends(inclusive of children) last Sunday. All staff were accommodating and the place had a diner feel albeit a little more upscale. The menu was creative takes on breakfast favorites. I had the Belgian waffle, eggs and chicken sausage. I felt the chicken sausage needed more fennel bc it lacked a bit of flavor but the waffle and eggs were perfect. I particularly liked the blueberry compote. My friends ordered eggs Benedict which seems to be a local favorite, it's served on ciabatta bread and an omelette with breakfast potatoes. The worst $40 I ever spent going out for breakfast. Before you pay for your meal , look at the receipt so you aren't charged for something you didn't even order. Now , the food , not good. Million dollar bacon was good, but I would avoid the salmon Benedict. Salad lacked flavor, I don't think there was any dressing on it and the same goes for the eggs benny. I really enjoy coming to First Watch for brunch. Depending on the day that you go, the wait can be very long but you can join a waitlist online. This place consistently delivers when it comes to breakfast. For me, ordering shrimp and grits anywhere outside of the deep south is a gamble. Usually, it's just not seasoned right, not enough butter, just kinda bland. But I risked it and glad I did. The shrimp and grits were fantastic. My family and I used to love coming here but the service was kind of iffy. We had awful service last year and stopped going. Today we were craving some of their menu items and decided to go. The food is always grea, never a complain. However the service, yet again, wasnt. We were seated quickly, and they took our order quickly. We had to ask for my wife's juice at least 3 times, and I had to ask for syrup for my pancakes at least the same amount. We would ask a server who came to our table, then she'd vanish for 15 mins while our food was getting cold, and we never received a drink refill or an offer on refills. Our original server we only saw again when it was time to boot us and give us a check. never even asked if we needed takeout containers and it was clear we did. At one point I guess a manager was making rounds to talk to diners, he mumbled something asking how things were, my wife said the service was a little rough but overall great, he nods and smiles and just walked away. we weren't expecting anything but no response? I enjoyed a late breakfast on a quiet Saturday morning at First Watch. We got on the wait list before arriving. Upon arrival, we waited about 5 minutes before being seated. The restaurant was bustling with patrons, all ready for a delicious start to their day. My meal included the Citrus Hibiscus Punch that was refreshing (I wanted a larger glass) and the Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl. The Bowl was delicious and right up my alley. My girl friends and I decided to try brunch during peak Sunday brunch hours. I got on the waitlist about 20 minutes before we were planning to arrive because there was a 30-40 minute wait. When we arrived we were told it would be another 20 minutes, which made sense. It ended up being a bit longer, but once we were seated and ordered our delicious drinks, the wait no longer mattered. First time I've been to a First Watch. For a chain restaurant this is one of the best for breakfast. The selections are varied and the amount of healthy options is fantastic. I had the Salmon and Roasted Vegetable Frittata which was delicious. So, although I mentioned the healthy options (it came with a side salad), I substituted for the potatoes, oops. The potatoes were really good though. My wife had the Floridian French Toast, which were two brioche slices of bread with fresh fruit on top. She really enjoyed it. So I went back as I said I would and had a much different experience which I felt compelled to share... I would say a BOLDER experience! Super busy again but that speaks volumes for this little place that I predict will one day have to expand. Everything else was tasty. - Prices were reasonable, if you stay away from trendy shit like avocado toast, or a drink with Lilac blossoms in it. - You can check in online before heading over so that you don't have to wait as long at the restaurant, which is good because.... The not so good: - the place is PACKED. As soon as you walk in, there is a ocean of people, just milling about the hostess table. The problem is that the hostess table is also where you pay, so the people trying to leave are clashing with the people trying to come, and no one knows what's going on. There's a check in line, a check in line for the people who've already checked in online, a line for people trying to pay, a line for people waiting to be seated, a line for people asking questions....it's just a chaotic mess - The place is a little small for the amount of foot traffic they deal with. Seats are close together, and there isn't much privacy, or room to maneuver. On my trip, a family had a stroller at their table, and the entire wait staff had to reroute through the restaurant, because there just wasn't room to get around or through. Always a great stop for brunch with a homemade feel. On this rainy Sunday, my wife and I split the avocado toast and Hawaiian French toast. Avocado toast is always fresh with shaved sea salt and lemon bringing out all the flavor.
