I highly recommend the Apron Café and I think you should go there as soon as possible. Like, now would be good! Where to begin? I was there for the first time on Sunday, March 30, 2025, for breakfast (big shock!). Note: they serve breakfast and lunch but have dinner specials on certain nights throughout the month (check their website). The café is clean and well lit; one side of the café is all windows, which is great because you can watch planes take off and land at the Hammonton Municipal Airport. Neat! There is a small counter/bar with room for about 10 people and then various tables throughout the venue. Weather permitting, there is also outside seating. We were a party of 4 and were seated immediately. Our server, Ava, was fantastic from start to finish. She greeted us right away and took our drink order. Since we all asked for coffee, she brought a carafe for the table and that really impressed me. Our coffee cups were always full. We quickly ran out of sugar; instead of bringing more packets to the table, she brought us a free-pour sugar dispenser. How thoughtful! Throughout our meal, she checked on us several times and refilled our carafe, brought more creamer, and so on. It was refreshing to be so well attended to. As far as the food goes: top-notch, hot, fresh, prepared and cooked perfectly, plated professionally... what more can I say? I am certainly no stranger to dining out for breakfast, and Apron Café's fare is remarkably the best I have had in a long time. Allow me to provide a little more detail about the food. I am drawn to any 3-egg breakfast like a moth to a lightbulb. Imagine my joy when I saw a 3-egg breakfast plus TWO choices of meat! I thought I died and passed on to breakfast heaven! I chose scrapple and sausage patties - potatoes and toast were included. I ordered a side of sausage gravy too. Eggs: cooked perfectly over-easy; scrapple: crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside (like God intended!); sausage gravy: hot, tasty, and exceptional. Also, my brother-in-law ordered eggs benedict and much to his delight, the meal came out HOT and the poached eggs were cooked by a pro - just gushing with hot yolk when cut in half. My sister's meal came with pancakes and I ate one. Wow - on par with all of the other food: delicious! This was a really special breakfast for us and I am grateful to the Apron Café and the entire staff for making our visit wonderful and one that I want to repeat as soon as possible. I can't wait to try their other breakfast items and stop by for a specialty dinner. I am definitely recommending this establishment to anyone and everyone - you will not be disappointed! read more

First time there and we'll definitely be back!!! Server was delightful. She recommended the signature soup chicken Florentine which was outstanding. Hubby had cod poboy and had roast pork (real pork not lunchmeat!) w melted provolone and spinach. It was good but would've preferred a hard roll vs soft. The homemade chips were delish. I'll always opt for the sweet and savory so I HAD to try the chicken and waffles with honey/maple syrup (*You can also opt for the peach preserves instead of the honey/maple syrup). What makes this cool, aside from the food?!: This place is awesome! While you eat, you can see airplanes and helicopters land. Per the pics, you can see the inside of the restaurant has pieces of actual airplanes as decor and history of a variety of airplanes. Who doesn't love a cool mom and pop?! Don't limit yourself to brunch, check them out for dinner too. Parking: The Apron Cafe is off the beaten path but worth a little trip. The Apron Cafe has a small parking lot but also offers "street" parking. By "street", I mean that you can park on the road it's located on. Fear not, no dings or dents will affect your car. Stop in on Sunday for a quick bite and ordered an unsweetened tea and was told by the waitress they ran out. Tried coffee but it was lukewarm warm. Checked menu and discovered the meat skillet i ordered a few months ago now costs $15 (from $10.50 then $13) Felt rushed through the entire process, cafe was pre-closing due to the time (they close at 3)...we paid for the coffee and left without ordering. I get everyone want to be home or out on time but if your hours are to 3pm that mean the customer get the same service and quality food as those who ate at 8, 9, 10 and so on that day. I was in retail and never allowed pre closing. Let's not get into the robbery prices on the menu. Many restaurants are learning the hard way about gauging and are now out of business. Just an FYI we had a wonderful meal at the Boondocks Deli and Grill near Batsto at half the price and it was hot and fresh. read more

Today was our second time to this place. The first time (2 days ago) was great. Our waitress was very attentive, explained what I chose to order just to make sure we were happy with our pick and also took the time to chat with us. As I left I told my wife I was definitely wanting to come back. We had found this gem in a spot we didn't expect it. The food was great, different in a good way and ambiance was very appealing. I would have given them 10 stars out of 5. It was awesome. The first time it was just two of us. Today, it was four of us. I'm excited to show the other two in our party the place and recommended the dish I had last time. Everything was going pretty normal. However, our waitress was a different lady this time. She was very attentive to the 3 or 4 tables around us, but was definitely treating us different. She asked everyone around us if they wanted a refill for their coffee, took used plates and trash off their tables fairly quickly, and asked them if they were okay. We started noticing the pattern and started wondering why she wasn't doing that with us, but it didn't bother me that much at the moment. After waiting for a while, mind that she never came around to ask us how we were making out with our food, I had to asked her to excuse me and ask if she could give me a coffee refill when she had an opportunity. She agreed. She brings the coffee, but there was no regular sugar and no half and half on our table. So, I asked if she could bring some when she had a second. She again agrees. Walks away, comes around to the other tables multiple times and never brings the half and half or sugar. At that point I was just going to leave the coffee in the table. I hate eating at places where you feel like you are bothering people and it for sure was not as busy in comparison to all the servers they had available. My wife sees that I haven't touched my coffee and realized there was no half and half or sugar so she asked the waitress again for the half and half and sugar. This time the waitress brought it right at the end when we were about to leave. She went to the tables around us and asked them if they needed anything else and then gave them the check. To us, she didn't ask how we were or if we wanted anything else, which I was going to order some pancakes "to go" as I did the last time, but figured she was trying to turnover the table because she just dropped the check and that's it. So we just paid and left. I 99% of the time leave a very decent tip above the average. Sometimes I leave the same money I spent food as a tip (100%) when service is extraordinary. I know times are tough and people need to make a living. But in this case I would never leave a good tip. Not when I'm treated subpar in comparison to the other customers/ guest. Not sure why we were treated differently and very much hope next time we are treated, not more and not less than the other customers... the same / equally is just fine. For subtle behavior I wouldn't write a negative review, but this time, it was very noticeable and I can only suspect the reason. I gave 3 stars because of the waitress our first time was awesome and invited us back, and the food was great. Otherwise I would give them 1 star. What a fun atmosphere! Take a drive through Hammonton's Blueberry farms and take the road to Apron Cafe. You'll be able to see small planes take off and land inside or on the outdoor patio. All of the staff is incredibly friendly. The food is awesome. We sat down with our little one and had a fantastic time. Absolutely can not pass up on blueberry pancakes. Hundreds of Millions and tens of thousands of people have been begging me constantly to review this place, so now it's time. To everyone begging me, thank you, and you're welcome. 1 small complaint, if you search on yelp for "diner" or even "airport diner" in hammonton NJ, it wont show up. Did a minute of research and found it though... so buckle up! I was a bit slow then, as I am now if you know what i mean so bear with me...I got some food with some friends and definitely enjoyed it. I do remember the owner knowing one person in our party, but I honestly feel like she's genuinely a good business owner. She didnt pretend to be happy just because some knew her, she seemed honestly happy to have people there and serving them her food. The crew I was with did mention not much was hot. They're not liars so that should be worked on especially if you're serve items that are supposed to be hot. Like coffee. Like Hot breakfast food. I'm being brutally honest (as always) but also know this is an unclaimed business so i doubt the owner will have mental agony over someone calling their coffee not-the-hottest or needs work. I loved the place, and I had their coffee and liked it. but still..temp of some foods should have been hotter. Lets just sum it up and say temperature is a thing that exists. That said, The bagel dunker was incredible. I didn't want to order one but i was fat, felt fat, still am fat, so I ordered a bagel on top of a full breakfast. It dunked incredibly well and I'd get one again without hesitation. Well sliced, well toasted (like a medium which is what i like) and had (2) single serve cups of philadelphia cream cheese. The best dunking combo. I know NJ and PA people usually are enemies but the PA (philly) cream cheese rocked. Perfect for dunking. I ordered the breakfast bowl which was exactly what my brain and body needed to survive the rest of the day. Portioned and priced correctly. I can't say the team was wrong, it wasnt piping hot, but I'm not complaining about it because I loved it. It tasted delicious, but it needed a dash of hot sauce as all meals do in my opinion, but im a hot sauce kinda guy. Next time I stumble to this place I'm gonna get it again whether I'm hungry or not as well as a bagel dunker just for fun...just like this time. The scenery was also awesome. My friend Scott P. LOVED watching a cessna skyhawk C172 do touch and goes and low approaches. He said it was worth the trip just to watch it while he ate his food! But he loves airplanes more than I do. I did enjoy being so close to the tarmac and taxiways. Scott even taught me a thing or two about what the taxiway signs meant and other airplane terms. I learned the number 9 is pronounced niner! neat! Overall, Next time I'm in NJ, if it's not too far of a drive I'd love to visit this place again. Love this cafe! Would have never known it existed if we didn't find it on yelp since it's not on a main road, but the place was packed when we showed up! It's situated right at the Hammonton municipal airport and you can see planes landing and taking off. The big windows and the location provided the perfect ambiance. The food selection included breakfast and lunch options, we opted for breakfast. I got the eggs Benedict and my fiancé got a pork roll egg and cheese on a bagel both with a side of home fries. This was our second time to the Apron Cafe, and will be out last time! I want to first of all say the food was tasty, and our server Kelley C. was excellent! However, the prices in there were OUTRAGEOUS! It cost us after tip over $72.00 for breakfast!!! I ordered the Hungry Man breakfast for $18.00! The menu said it included toast which any breakfast normally does. The waitress said the items marked with an * were the exceptions, and the toast was extra. My breakfast came with pancakes, and I was asked if I wanted plain pancakes or with fruit. I was not told that the fruit was an extra charge of $2.00, so now my toastless breakfast combo cost $20.00. My husband ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes which costs a whopping $9.00, then a $1.50 up-charge for blueberries which we were not told about. I understand there is an egg shortage, but this is just an excuse to gouge people! Go to Gilchrist in Galloway Twp! Clean, the food is plentiful, the staff are very nice. I went for breakfast, they also serve lunch. They are open until 2pm on every day except Mondays, when they are closed. People fly in and just stop for a leisurely bite. When we were there, we did not run into many locals, probably because it is tucked away amongst the blueberry fields off Colombia road on 206, but it is worth a trip. A clean, good tasting little diner located right by an airfield. Great concept and everyone seemed friendly, but here's why I am leaving only 1 star. We sat down around 11:10 AM promptly, followed by a server that greeted us and brought us our coffee/water soon after. My fiancé and I took a couple of more minutes to look over the menu and she orders a breakfast bowl with one chocolate pancake and I order a Spicy Spanish with a side of bacon/sausage links . After our order was taken, a 5 top/2 top got sat down around us and puts in their order around 5 minutes afterwards. 25-30 minutes goes by, the 2 top that got sat down AFTER we put in our order gets their whole meal. Ok, odd, maybe the kitchen possibly got weeded and misplaced the ticket order. Another 5 minutes goes by, the 5 top gets their whole order brought to them by 2 servers. Now I am getting very frustrated, but still continued to be patient. Finally, our meal comes out! But wait, only my fiancé's meal? Where's mine? Couple of minutes later, my omelet hits the table, but my side of sausage and bacon is no where to be seen. Server says, "it'll be brought out very soon." Fair enough, we begin to eat our meal. By the time we were done, which is around 5-10 minutes later (we were in a rush to drive back to NYC, so we ate fairly fast), my sides comes out. Server tells me that the kitchen is behind and that she's sorry about that. This is where I call BS. Now, as a person who was a server/bartender in fine dining restaurants for almost a decade, I can't help it but to constantly observe any restaurants I sit down in. There is absolutely no shot that the kitchen is that behind when a 5 top and 2 top who got sat down after we put in our order gets their ENTIRE meal before we get ours, not to mention an incomplete order spaced out by almost 10 minutes. Also, it seemed as if the manager/owner were there and were constantly assisting other tables, but never once came over to our table to give any sort of explanation on the delay, nor did they ever acknowledge us. Is the communication in the FOH/BOH really that disconnected? Did the server forget to put in our orders? But then again, where's the follow up by management? I hate to pull the race card, but my fiancé and I were the only non white people there. I have pretty thick skin and always give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, but to say we didn't feel a bit of micro aggression here would be a lie. Maybe the 5 and 2 tops were regulars but even if that's the case, that's not how you treat your first time guests. They took my sides off the receipt, and I still left a 20% tip on the non discounted price. Regardless, we left with a pretty sour taste in our mouths. Treat your first timers right and be honest with your guests. (This review probably won't even make a difference as this diner seems to be heavily populated by regulars) read more

Not only did Sal give me his Cafe for my son's fundraiser for the night, he provided staff to help me with my event, the food and of course the most talented chef I know, Regina Clark. First time there...went for breakfast. Service was extremely slow. I did overhear our waitress tell someone that they were unusually busy and another waitress was out, so we remained patient until, after we were seated for about 20 minutes with no water or coffee or anything, she asked the table she seated AFTER us if she could get them anything to drink! Our menus had been down and we were ready to order for AT LEAST 10 minutes already, so i called her over and told her we wanted water and coffee! We ordered pancakes with no powdered sugar and, sure enough, they came out with powdered sugar. The blueberry lemon ricotta "stuffed" pancakes are pancakes topped with lemon ricotta and blueberry sauce ( with tons of blueberries)....no blueberries IN the pancakes, which was disappointing. But they were good nonetheless. We once again had to get her attention to get our check...she never came to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything or wanted more coffee. Before we left, i heard another waitress telling customers who just walked in that they were out of homefries! They only serve breakfast and lunch, so that seems odd. We did like the atmosphere and being able to watch the planes come and go. And the food was good and the place was clean. We will give it one more chance...maybe it was an exceptionally bad day.
