This cozy little library offers a clean, new, and quiet feel with a FIREPLACE! That automatically gives it a +1 star. With large windows at the north wall, lots of natural sunlight shines through that area, which appears mostly occupied by middle-aged adults reading up-to-date magazines. I haven't checked out the other materials but it looks like they have a good inventory of books in both good and smell-good condition. I mainly use this library for the study area but perhaps not suitable for others. When they constructed this library, I don't think they paid much attention to the noise architecture; it's the most perfect square of a building I've been in. I can imagine how much the sound can travel with noisy patrons/kids especially since there are NO WALLS to block it. With that said, I'm surprisingly the most productive here especially when I use my ear plugs. And the WIFI is great. What I really like about this library is that I feel safe inside and I trust that people aren't out to take my things. I will definitely revisit and check out the other things they have to offer, like the open area they have in the back to hang with your kids.

This is a great library to get some mid-day work done. It gets a little noisy when school is out, but this place is very comfortable.

It…read morereminds me a lot of the libraries at our elementary schools because the shelves are so low. The staff was very friendly and there are a couple nice sized conference rooms if you need to book meetings/gatherings here. Generally pretty quiet, right next to maybe an elementary school haha.

Adventuring to the Edmonds Library today, Saturday 16 November 2024, I was on the lookout for a…read moremovie to add to my watchlist and a book to read. I have looked through the shelves at my local libraries in the King County Library System a number of times, so coming here I was interested to see if I could find something different. As I do not have a Sno-Isle library card I could not check anything out, however I could look and sit and read in library. I utilized street parking for my visit, though there is a parking lot shared with the Anderson Center to the east of the main entrance. Shelving in the library was short stacks with items low/close to the ground. Books were broken into youth and adult sections. There were computer work stations as well as a larger classroom-like work space and a few small study rooms. In the movies section I spotted a 2019 PBS documentary on weasels, a good one as my family and I had a family of long tailed weasels (mustela frenata) in the vicinity of our house a few times over the past years, they are a native species in the area. Perhaps most varied from the libraries I frequent in terms of what I looked over today was the biography section (adult books section). Limiting myself to one that captured my attention, I selected a 2017 book "Being Elvis: A Lonely Life" by Ray Connolly. I had not seen that one before on the shelves in my library system. I put both the movie and book on hold. Exploring the in library sitting/reading options, I found a big comfy/soft chair with a movable table by a recycling area. It was nice that the table beside the table was small and could be moved to make using it more comfortable. Lighting throughout the library was a bit variable, might have been in part due to the tall ceilings.

I really loved going to this library every week as it was a good place to be and hangout with my…read morefriends, but recently i was with a group of my friends around the recetangular table in the middle, then a random guy comes out of nowhere yelling gibberish about how my friends and I where on the second floor disturbing him (me and my friends on this day were not at all on the second floor) and while saying these things, he came next to me and he clenched his fist ready to punch me. I was really scared for my life (being a high-school teenager) but the security guard, the staff and the people around us did nothing, and I and my friends were frozen in fear, the guy randomly left, so we thought he came to his senses or he realized that we were never in the second floor, so we continued on our own business. Then suddenly 10 or minutes after that, the guy shoved me hard and I knocked down one of my friends that was sitting next to me, so the rest of my friends left calmly, to call security or ask for help, and the guy that shoved me kept talking more gibberish about us in the second floor bothering him, so the person next to me was desperately trying to explain we were never in the second floor today, (keep mind that nobody including the security guards did anything, I don't think they even cared) then the guy randomly called his dog on the second floor in the library (and keep in mind that pets are strictly not allowed in the library and I was so scared the dog was going to maul me) and then the guy was yelling for the security to come (which up on to this point was literally doing nothing) and he told the security guard that we were on the second floor bothering him (the security guard knew we never were on the second floor) the security guard then said to me and the guy that we will be kicked out if we don't stop bothering each other, the guy then left to the second floor(and I was thinking thats it? You're not going to do anything about himself assaulting me?) And I was so shocked that the people around me, the security guard and the staff did nothing about this. (Also keep in mind that one time me and my friend was throwing around a light ball in the library and we were threatened to be kicked out of the library and we had to really apologize to be not kicked out) so if I throw around a ball I get kicked out of the library but if a random guy assaults me he gets of scott free. (I don't feel safe anymore in this library especially when the staff didn't care a vulnerable high-school kid was being assaulted infront of them)

We were there for a couple hours and could have stayed longer if naps weren't a thing. I like that they have a "needs to be cleaned" bin, cause my toddler still likes to put things in his mouth! There were a bunch of other kids and it was just a great place to get some social interaction and playtime. And it's FREE. Wins all around, thank you!

After a loooonnnggg educational hiatus, my dad sat me down about a year and a half ago and said, "I…read moredon't care what you do, but you need to pick a major, and finish it." I chose something Business related because the company I work for would foot the bill for part of it, and, having been a nursing major, and an art history major my first round of college, after doing a few pre-requisite classes at a community college I was back in the University game. Coincidently, as it turned out, I am great at Business, and have settled into my majors very naturally. CWU-Lynnwood offers a great alternative to the expensive cost of the only other local public university (You know, the one with the icky purple and gold colors) Here, for a fraction of the price, I get a quality education from great faculty, and all the support services of the full university in Ellensburg. CWU-Lynnwood has a computer lab and library services, as well as an on-site writing lab for students. In addition to all the services offered by the University, students can partake and participate in any services or events offered by Edmonds Community College as well (since the school is located in it's own building on the Edmonds CC campus) Students can purchase textbooks and even collegiate clothing in the Edmonds CC bookstore. While the majors available for study are some what limited, they do offer some great choices for students. I am currently finishing a double-major in Accounting and Business Administration, while also completing a minor in Economics and a certification program in Supply Chain Management. All that for less than what I'd have paid at the alternative schools available to me. Seems like a savvy business decision to me, so my education is already paying off! And I have no doubt that this combination of education will provide me with a more than adequate future salary in the business world. Other available majors include teaching certification, IT and Law & Justice. CWU-Lynnwood also offers one graduate program, for Accounting majors, which meets the requirements for the fifth year of credits that is required to sit for the CPA exam. The school has clubs and programs in place to help generate a sense of community on campus, and loyalty to the school, with a student leadership program that plans fun events for students on a regular basis. For Accounting majors the student accounting society puts on annual networking socials for students to meet with firms in the area, and the school has staff in place to help students find internships to help them further their education, and professional goals. I could not be happier with my choice of CWU Lynnwood to finish my degrees. I feel my professors care for me, my education, and my professional development, and are more than adequately preparing me for grad school (which I'll start in Fall of 2012) And I've made some wonderful friends in my courses and a few just hanging out in the student lounge area studying. AND the cherry on top: you get a free Snohomish County bus system pass just for being a student. What a deal!

I started my undergrad degree here in January 2007 and will be graduating in June 2008 (I take 15…read morecredits/quarter). Being that I am majoring in Accounting and I work full time, it is really helpful that CWU offers a lot of night classes so I can complete my degree close to home. The tuition is affordable and one can take out student loans if need be. I've only had a couple of instructors that I didn't particulary care for, but overall I think the faculty is excellent. For the location, price and quality of education, I have to give this place 5 starts. Let's face it: Getting into UW's business school is extremely competitive and even if you do, they do not offer night classes. Seattle University has a great reputation, but not good enough to spend 30k a year on tuition, etc.
