I believe it's important to check back after some time has passed to see if my initial thoughts were accurate or in need of some update: well, I'm happy to report an update is necessary. Let's start with this; if I could give Dr. Winokur 11 stars, it wouldn't be enough. Here are the relevant takeaways: 1) I returned to the practice after writing my initial review for a number of issues: including cavities that needed to be filled; a chipped tooth; fillings that needed to be replaced; bonding that needed to be redone (the work of another practitioner just didn't hold up!). In every instance, the work done was the best you could hope for. Pro, compassionate, and incredibly well-done. 2). The above mentioned bonding was a challenge. Dr. Winokur knocked the work out of the park. I can smile again, and I feel great about my teeth. 3). My girlfriend visited the practice (on my recommendation) and her chipped tooth disappeared. Perfect work. Painless. And with rave reviews from her. 4). The support team here is the best I've ever worked with. 5) I now come in every three months for a cleaning. Eloise is remarkable, and the best hygienist I've ever known. Killer. In a great way. 6) Jess and the front office team are buttoned up, incredibly friendly, and helpful in ways you wished every doctor's office could be. 7) Dental insurance leaves something to be desired. This practice works with you to make sure you're getting the best coverage and value, and they try and minimize out-of-pocket(to the best of their ability) no matter what the circumstance. Bottom line. Dr. Blake Winokur is a NYC dentist who now works full-time in Danbury. His practice is state-of-the-art, clean, incredibly well-equipped, and pretty-much perfect in every way. If you try this team, you will be amazed. More than that, you'll wish every health care practitioner was this good. If you're reading this review please note this is not a one-off perspective. Almost a year later and numerous visits later I can report my information is solid and you should take this recommendation and run with it.

They want tens of thousands of dollars we've always had problems with our teeth it's genetic and during the pandemic we both got pretty depressed. We don't like looking in the mirror so much unlike some people we know. Went to another dentist and ended up taking out insurance for the to the tune of about $65 a month. Then that Dentist tried to keep our $70 refund! Are you effing kidding me us? We knew immediately when the new patient coordinator said she would check to see if they took our insurance that they did not! Why can't they just do it as a courtesy considering we're paying out-of-pocket and you're gonna make us do all that paperwork? We just got through fighting for our rights to get certain entitlements that we have been on forever and if it had not been for Legal Services Of Hudson Valley we would be homeless! We're very tired of fighting with anyone or arguing with anyone for no reason at all. So we haven't been yet and if anybody has any information to tell us, please do. We want to be actually put to sleep because our teeth are in such registered shape and we blame ourselves and the fact that the pandemic shut down everything for over two years. We used to go to yoga right down the street three times a week and now we don't do anything but lie around in pain. We truly don't understand and maybe after we talk to the doctor, she or he will make them put in for the insurance that we've been paying for since last April on a regular monthly basis we didn't realize that the last Dentist we saw had his secret plan in place to shunt us off to a Sedation Dentist, which we had never even heard of! We would never have taken out that insurance had we known of his secret plan and no, we're not gonna tell you his name. You guess. Look at our ratings and you'll be able to figure out who it is, but we don't want to start a war. Dentist are pretty much nuts in our opinion. They're nuttier than any other fields that we can think of that's because everyone scared to go to the dentist because it hurts so much. We told that Dentist that pond us off to a Sedation Dentist this information immediately. Apparently that was enough to offend him, or whatever happened in his mind, we're not sure, but it doesn't seem right.

In my previous dental office in Manhattan cleanings were done by an hygienist. I complained to Dr.Yen about a front tooth that had rotated and was pressuring the tooth next to it and my top and bottom lips. She referred me to Putman Orthodontics to see what they could do about it. I saw Dr. Lee at P.O. who told me he could not help me and he was going to call Dr. Yen to work out another plan for my case. She also referred me to Valley Endodontics for evaluation because she was not sure if I needed a root canal. The day after seeing Dr. Lee at P.O. I called Precision Arts and I was transferred to Michelle, The office manager, and explained what had happened with Dr. Lee. She told me to call back two days later to speak to Dr. Yen. Two days later I called and Michelle told me I would have to come in to speak to Dr. Yen. I went in the same day to find out the results of her conversation with Dr. Lee and what the plan was to fix the discomfort I had been experiencing. Dr. Yen looked puzzled, obviously she did not have a plan and she did not confirm having discussed my case with Dr. Lee. When I insisted to find out what was the plan she and Dr. Lee had reached during their conversation she abruptly left the office and sent the office manager to escort me out of the office. It is outrageous that an health professional treats a patient this way. I am glad it ended first visit because with this type of treatment it would not last another visit. Any way I was looking for a dentist that could treat any issues that would come up, be sure about what should be done and not give me the run around sending me to other facilities for further evaluations and at the end with no solutions.

I'm happy to share that I have found that very dentist. I take good care of my teeth and typically go in for routine cleanings every six months and rarely have cavities. But when I do have the occasional problems that pop up every 3 or 4 years, they are significant and costly. Normally I get ahead of things before they become an issue but with my big move and a pretty intense past 10 months or so, I had gone an entire year without a cleaning or exam. And then an old crown popped off when I was flossing, reminding me that I better get my ass to the dentist. And then I found Mel Mel Dental with what appeared to be a very sincere 5 star review, so I took a chance. In all my years of going to dentists, I find my experience here to be the best of all. I rarely if ever, have to wait. There's a family-like atmosphere amongst the staff that makes one feel immediately comfortable. If you look at their website, they give a bio on everyone from reception to hygienists to Dr. Suditu himself. So cool! I actually look forward to seeing the staff and Theresa, the dental assistant, is particularly great to talk to. She makes you feel immediately comfortable as if you're about to share a bottle of wine rather than get dental work done. Finally, a note on painless dentistry. Dr. Suditu is particularly careful to explain exactly what is going on from anesthesia (he expertly administers the shot so that you barely feel it) to the procedure itself. Similarly, he explains your options and takes insurance coverage into consideration. These are all the things that can cause stress in a patient. First I was told the full mouth X rays are covered by my insurance (they were not). Then the estimate for the root canal and how the amount the insurance would cover was wrong. Then the extraction costs were higher due to difficulty, which it did not seem to be. Finally I paid the bill at the end and put it behind me. Now one year later I receive a text that I owe another $540 and will be sent to collection if not paid. When I asked the reason for the additional cost the answer was not satisfactory. The best part about it all, is the tooth feels loose and I don't feel comfortable using that side. If you know a good dentist please tell me.
