I booked Gerfen a few years ago for a root canal and filling dentist appointment. The filling was done without leaving a gap by the tooth next to it, so the next day I had to come and ask her to fix it. She didn't warn or tell me about any of this after the actual appointment, but she just said, "Okay, I'll fix it." I was in shock, and I think her assistant was too at the time by her complete ignorance. Today, seven years later, I just got back from an oral surgeon who extracted the same tooth that Grefen did the root canal on. The surgeon told me that it was done so poorly, he thought it was done by a student. I had to spend all this money and time on something that should not have been an issue in the first place. Don't trust this woman. She ruined my teeth, and I hope this review provides future viewers with caution before they book their next appointment.

They told me I had to pay for the filling in my root canal because i was over my limit, only after…read morethey started the procedure. But what I am most angry about is that they lied to my face about my crown being covered. They told me that once the root canal claim is paid to them that I will be over my limit, and I will have to wait until next year/January for my limit to renew to get the crown put on or I could pay out of pocket. I called my insurance immediately afterwards and they told me that the crown was approved and it is to be covered by my insurance. To me it sounds like they're trying to get paid twice. I also have my suspicions about them doing this to me because I cancelled my first appointment for the crown with less than 24 hour notice and I feel as if they were mad they couldn't charge me a cancellation fee due to having state insurance and also wanted to waste my time by having me come in just to say that it won't be covered, which is a lie. As an update, my insurance called and spoke to MaryLou at the front desk, and she is claiming they aren't denying me the crown, they just won't do it until the claim is paid for the root canal. But they have been submitting the CLAIM, not the BILL. My insurance was going to transfer her to the billing department to have them walk her through it when she hung up the phone. Seems as if the receptionist is not qualified for her position.

Dr. Solomons and his staff appears to be very professional and well informed. The practice has examination rooms, surgery rooms, and offer orthodontic services. I believe that all practical options to address my problem were clearly and understandably presented, along with the advantages and possible shortcomings of those solutions. Going forward, I have faith that this practice cares about their patients and Dr. Solomons has demonstrated knowledge and experience that probably could have prevented the issues I'm now experiencing. I believe it's important to check back after some time has passed to see if my initial thoughts were accurate or in need of some update: well, I'm happy to report an update is necessary. Let's start with this; if I could give Dr. Winokur 11 stars, it wouldn't be enough. Here are the relevant takeaways: 1) I returned to the practice after writing my initial review for a number of issues: including cavities that needed to be filled; a chipped tooth; fillings that needed to be replaced; bonding that needed to be redone (the work of another practitioner just didn't hold up!). In every instance, the work done was the best you could hope for. Pro, compassionate, and incredibly well-done. 2). The above mentioned bonding was a challenge. Dr. Winokur knocked the work out of the park. I can smile again, and I feel great about my teeth. 3). My girlfriend visited the practice (on my recommendation) and her chipped tooth disappeared. Perfect work. Painless. And with rave reviews from her. 4). The support team here is the best I've ever worked with. 5) I now come in every three months for a cleaning. Eloise is remarkable, and the best hygienist I've ever known. Killer. In a great way. 6) Jess and the front office team are buttoned up, incredibly friendly, and helpful in ways you wished every doctor's office could be. 7) Dental insurance leaves something to be desired. This practice works with you to make sure you're getting the best coverage and value, and they try and minimize out-of-pocket(to the best of their ability) no matter what the circumstance. Bottom line. Dr. Blake Winokur is a NYC dentist who now works full-time in Danbury. His practice is state-of-the-art, clean, incredibly well-equipped, and pretty-much perfect in every way.
