If you are a parent like I am, who wants you kids to be seen by experts who also treat your kids with respect and care, this is your new dentist/orthodontist. When we moved to Westchester from the city about 8+ years ago we went to three different dentists to have our kids teeth cleaned. In each instance the dentist was fine, not terrific, their bedside manner was ambivalent at best, and they pretty much treated my kids as cogs on an assembly line. It got so bad that my youngest would get ill before going to the dentist. When my youngest had to have a tooth filled and the (FORMER) dentist brought out physical restraints for the procedure, I knew we were in the wrong hands. A generous neighbor recommended Valley and we never looked back. Both kids have seen dentists and orthodontists at the practice and their treatment is bar none. The kids have had braces and cleanings and fluoride treatments and fillings and go in with the same big smiles as when they walk out. The office staff are equally impressive and so generous with their time and support. When you walk in the door you are treated like family. When you call, you are treated like a person. No complicated phone systems or medical runarounds like so many other medical groups these days. Just smart people who care about what they do and actually like their patients. He went into long detail about the time frames for both reimbursements, and which would be bigger. Despite that, he asked me to pay in full ahead of time. I had to repeatedly nag them to actually submit for insurance. When they finally did months later, both dental and medical denied the claims, saying he was not in network for the procedure he performed. While I don't know for sure, I suspect that the office knew that ahead of time, given that they 1) asked me to pay in full in advance, and 2) didn't bother submitting for insurance until I repeatedly nagged them to do so.

And let me tell you, some of them made it sound like I was about to enter the dental version of a medieval dungeon. Chains, dragons, and angry villagers may or may not have been implied. But plot twist: I went in anyway... and guess what? No dragons. No dungeons. Just a super professional, kind, and welcoming team who actually treats everyone--and I mean everyone--with the same level of respect and care, no matter your background, race, or how long it's been since your last flossing confession. There's no racism here--period. You walk through that door, you're a patient, not a stereotype. Let's also give a special shout-out to Donna at the front desk. She might come off a bit quick and to-the-point, but she's basically the dental office version of a well-organized fairy godmother. Always smiling, always checking in on how you're doing, and always wishing you a great day on your way out. If she ran for mayor of Yorktown Dental, I'd vote twice.
