We booked 2 nights for the 10th & 11th nothing major. I wrenched my back pretty bad before we were going had to cancel on the 7th. The owner told my wife no refund & that's OK I understand the cancelation policy but would not let us rebook for a later date. My wife has tried to contact the owner a couple of times & no response. Wanted to book locally but not again in Boone if this is the way they treat guests. So if you book there you better hope life doesn't show up outside of their cancelation policy. Mike Garcia

Our room had been changed with no notification. When we got to the room, it had an overwhelming smell of urine. The towels were dirty. Hair in the sheets. Bugs everywhere. A light fixture was taken down with exposed wiring. Mold. It was AWFUL. We have tried to contact the office multiple times via phone and email with no response. Completely awful!

I appreciated the little touches-- extra cozy blankets rolled up on the ends of the beds, plenty of towels and washcloths. Had we had more time we could have enjoyed sitting at the table and chairs outside enjoying the view of the lake across the street. Definitely would stay here again. The only negative, although the website still advertises it there is no continental breakfast due to Covid.

The owner met me at the office door with key in hand, offered me a bag of ice should I want it and quick instructions on checking out early. The room was spacious and spotless. A variety of coffee and tea pods, several complimentary sodas, large TV with loads of channel options. Parking is close and wi-fi was strong. I'd definitely stay there again!

It was about a 30 minute drive to Banner Elk where there's a lot more to do/places to eat. We got there around 10:30pm and the office was closed, but our key and room number/instructions were taped to the lobby door in an envelope so we were able to check in without anyone being there which was nice. It's definitely a rural area, there's minimal cell service depending on where you're standing. It's really perfect for disconnecting and getting in touch with nature.

The kitchen was more than adequate for cooking great meals... the lodge was unique, interesting and fun. The deck was where we spent time before and after two fishing sessions a day. This was our first visit to Wilson Creek. All agreed- this is the most scenic trout stream we have fished in NC. The trout were many and cooperative. Would highly recommend.
