The top floor is a queen bedroom loft, with a half bath. The main floor is a nice size living room with a kitchen open floor plan and a full bath. Down below halfway down the stairs is a washer and dryer (laundry area) and at the bottom of the stairs are 2 bedrooms. one with a king-size bed and one with 2 sets of bunk beds for 4 kids and a full bathroom. Full house Central Air and heating. Parking for at least 2 cars out front and additional spots at the club house. Access to the tennis courts, pool, and hiking trails with lots of open space in the area. You can also bring fishing equipment and fish on the Watauga River that runs through the community. The receptionist was really helpful giving recommendations on things to do and there were soaps and hats for purchase in the front lobby. It was about a 30 minute drive to Banner Elk where there's a lot more to do/places to eat. We got there around 10:30pm and the office was closed, but our key and room number/instructions were taped to the lobby door in an envelope so we were able to check in without anyone being there which was nice. It's definitely a rural area, there's minimal cell service depending on where you're standing. It's really perfect for disconnecting and getting in touch with nature.

The living room fireplace was amazing and we had it on constantly. The living room was comfortable and large. The kitchen was a bit small for both of us to work in but it was more than adequate. Both bedrooms were lovely (the king sized bed was super comfortable) and there were plenty of bathrooms to pick from. The sheets and towels were plentiful and plush and it was nice to be able to do laundry. The driveway up to the house was something. Super steep and it made the returns from our walks a bit challenging. And we were glad that it didn't snow to have to tackle it in the ice. The internet was great for keeping up with work but it wasn't sufficient to be able to stream movies or television. But the choices on the satellite TV made up for it. We loved The Getaway and will definiteley be back!

Difficult to drive up to the house because pathway was not well paved. Pots, pans, and other things in the house need updating.
