I didn't feel any pain during the numbing injection, which is usually the part I dread most. Even more impressive, the timing of the anesthesia is perfect--it takes effect exactly when needed and wears off just as the procedure ends. This practice was recommended by a friend. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I work in healthcare so I tend to read negative reviews to prepare myself. We should all keep in mind, a bad review is usually based on being short staffed, and personal, office and/or patient emergencies that may cause delayed appointments. My first interaction was with the front desk who holds down the fort every time I have an appointment. She happened to be alone the three times I was in the office. When multiple people are checking out, Mark would come help. I feel horrible because I never asked for her name. Mark is the man who works many hours to ensure authorizations have been submitted and follows up with patients. If you don't pick up your phone, he will send you an email. He always provides an estimate for my visits and even follows up to make sure I was reimbursed by my insurance! Kayla is wonderful and so thorough during my first visit. Her recommendations on products and techniques have worked well for me. She took her time explaining everything that interests me and didn't show annoyance at all. During my treatment, she wanted to make sure I wasn't uncomfortable. She is amazing! During my next visit, another hygienist helped me. I can't remember her name but we spoke about her Disneyland trip in Japan and all the recommendations she had. During both visits, Dr. Tsai was detailed and efficient. Her recommendations were things I've thought of for years. Her exam rooms were all full so I didn't want to fall behind on schedule. My daughter had her first visit this week and we were lucky enough to have Kayla clean her teeth. She described the photos in detail and prepared her if what might happen. We were lucky enough to spend a little more time with Dr. Tsai. She is so sweet and professional. It's rare for a dentist to socialize with you after the examination but I'm glad we got to know her a little better. Thank you Dr. Tsai and team for all you do! I went this place for my implant since 2020. Dr. Sherry was nice, friendly and care about her patient. Then, I did a cleaning here. It was great, gentle and no rash. However, this year i changed my insurance and waiting a confirmation if it's covered. While waiting, i went to another place where was terrify. So, I came back again. To begin with, my teeth were perfectly fine; I had absolutely no issues. They took an X-ray, told me I had a cavity, and said it needed to be filled. So, they drilled my tooth and filled it. But in hindsight, it would have been better if they'd never touched it. After they performed the procedure, the nerve in my tooth got exposed, and I was in excruciating pain. Consequently, they had to do a root canal. So now, my perfectly healthy tooth has turned into an ugly, dead tooth. read more

This office is chaotic and poorly run and calls may never get returned. But that is not the worse of it. Dr TSAI is cold, rushed, and acts confused. She is unethical and unprofessional and dishonest. She caused me months and months of pain because she made a mistake and was not trained properly to do procedures that she claims to know. She knows nothing about antibiotics. Worst of all my face is deformed by the swelling that never left. I would not wish for anyone to have an experience like this. A second opinion confirmed the above statement. Beware. read more

I had my first visit with Dr. Tsai today and I'm very impressed! She's very knowledgeable, including her hygienist Lee. It's no wonder she has a busy practice and so many exam rooms. I would highly recommend her especially if you have bite, sleep apnea issues. I agree that she is conservative which is so hard to find in a dentist, from personal experience. Thank you Dr. Sarles (my retiring dentist) for recommending her. I also brought my 8 year old to her and it went as well as it could have, for a tooth extraction. I appreciate this over a pediatric dentist at this age, because at the pediatric dentists they always put my kids in morning appointments when of course, I prefer afternoon like all other parents so they don't have to skip school. Standard cleaning is fine. You'll see Dr. Tsai for 2 minutes to look at your teeth and the next 2 minutes to push a night guard every damn time. Shut up about the night guard. I don't want it and I'm not gonna use it. Take a damn hint. I've never been recommended a night guard before coming here or since leaving this establishment. If you don't care about a personal touch with people who look after your teeth then this place will be fine. If you actually want somewhat of a personal connection with your dentist then this place isn't for you. read more

I was referred to Dr. Tsai by my sleep doc for possible mitigation of sleep apnea with a dental appliance. I spoke with Mark, who turned out to be the office manager and was straight up honest about the difficulty in getting my medical insurance to pay for it since I have met my full deductible. Mark sent me 5 sets of forms, worked with my sleep doc to prepare the forms for insurance. All along, Mark told me how difficult it was going to be. He was right...it wasn't worth the effort to jump through hoops to because in the long run it my medical insurance would make it difficult. Long story short, I am going to wait until I qualify for Medicare and go back to Millbrae Dental for the appliance. If Mark went through all the effort to try and get me approved and I wasn't even a patient, I can only imagine the care they provide their patients. If you are looking for a dental office that really cares about its patients look no further and call Mark and Dr. Tsai. read more

I had a minor emergency recently after I broke a tooth (during thanksgiving) cracking nuts with my teeth. The staff was able to fit me in quickly and determined the tooth was too badly damaged to repair and I needed a crown. It needed to be done right away but Dr. Tsai, whom I have been seeing for 10+ yrs, was out of town and they had a sub in, Dr. Roos. Doctor Tsai is wonderful, so I was a bit nervous about having someone else do the work but Mark, the manager, assured me Dr Roos was highly experienced and would do a great job. I decided to go for it and I'm glad I did. Doctor Roos was wonderful, great bedside manners, easy to talk to, answered all my questions, and made me feel at ease. The procedure was quick and easy and the new tooth/crown is perfect. On a side note, they always seem to be up on the latest technology as they used a digital scanner which was very impressive! read more

Last September I was in search of a dentist closer to my home. I was fortunate to find the dental office of Dr. Tsai and staff. Before I called Dr. Tsai's office, I researched YELP for her reviews and found her reviews to be very good. When I arrived, I was met by front office manager Mark. Mark was friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable. Later, I met Dr. Tsai. Dr. Tsai was very friendly and professional. After her examination she thoroughly explained every problem areas to me. She also explained which problems had a priority, which can be revisited at a later time and then those findings of which were of no real concern. What impressed me the most was when made a number of suggestions which would save me a lot of money. Two months later, I had an emergency situation that required an office visit during non-business hours. After I called them, Mark drove to the office to meet me on a Sunday night. Mark didn't have to pick-up the phone nor did he have to meet me at the office, but he did. As far as I'm concerned, I'm just "another patient". But to Dr. Tsai and Mark, I was important enough to sacrifice their Sunday night to see me. Thus far, my experience with Dr Tsai has been wonderful. I'm glad to see there is still a dentist in the area that still offers quality service with integrity. read more

Had a fantastic experience at MDC. I was a new client and had a Groupon. So I was sure I would get horrible service and upsold a bunch of things I didnt need. Instead, I had a great experience. First of all the place is very professional and high tech. Nicer than many of the other dentist offices I have been to in East Bay. I saw Dr. Kim who gave me the full xray, cleaning and exam. He was very friendly and did a through job (vs. other dentist offices where the hygienist does everything and the dentist comes in for 1 minute). He said that there were some problem areas, but didnt need immediate treatment ("lets just monitor over a few months). I really appreciated his honesty and not trying to be pushy with spending more money. I will definitely be back. I found my new dentist. Still the only dentist for us. I always have Kayla clean my teeth and my wife always has Lee. The hygienists are very knowledgeable about what's on our charts (is there a rank between hygienist and dentist?). I appreciate the modern facilities like digital x-rays and the shades they offer to block the bright lights during exams. Love that there is no upsell vibe with this office. At our age there are a few things to watch out for and De Tsai lets us know but doesn't push for premature treatments. Cute neighborhood is a plus. read more

Just finished fitting my crown. From start to finish the whole team were so responsive and professional. Dr Tsai slotted me in immediately when my tooth broke. Her team then helped me find a date for the root canal within days. By the time I was ready for the prep work Dr Tsai was away dealing with a family emergency. Luckily she found a wonderful Dr to step up and fulfill all her appointments. Dr Roos was charming and did a very nice job prepping for my final crown. The whole team were very reassuring and made sure everything felt good before I left. They even use digital scanners these days to design the final crown Amazing. The temporary worked great. I didn't even notice I'd just had dental work. And today i was in and out in 15 mins. The crown fitted perfectly. Thanks to Dr Tsai, Dr Roos and the entire team for a 5* experience. I think Dr. Tsai's dental hygienist Le is just excellent. However, I was unhappy with my experience with Dr. Tsai because the first time she saw me for a checkup, she spent 2 minutes looking in my mouth and then her front office gave me a sheet detailing $5000 of dental work recommended. I get regular dental checkups and neither my old dentist nor my new dentist has ever recommended such things. So it is up to each individual to determine whether they prefer a maximalist or minimalist approach. Having said that, Dr Tsai herself was very gracious and professional in responding to me. She offered another exam free of charge with the promise to carefully walk me through her findings. I declined because I am happy with my current dental care. Nevertheless, I appreciated her personally reaching out to me with a desire to meet the needs of a patient. read more

I can honestly say that I have found THE best dental office for not only myself, but for my entire family as well! Over the years, I have not found a dentist I have enjoyed going to, nor trusted. Time after time, I have gone to dentists that have pushed deep cleanings, unnecessary fillings, special mouthwashes, etc, etc! At the end of my dentist visit at all those previous places, there was always an extra, out-of-pocket, not covered by insurance, charge. One particular dentist failed to utilize our insurance properly, and even had the nerve to ask if it was ok to do a deep cleaning during the same day as a regular scheduled cleaning. The dentist said, "we'll do your deep cleaning today as well because you need it, but we just have to put a different date instead of today." I believe that due to those shady practices, that office is no longer in business. It has been these kind of experiences that have kept me and my family away from seeing a dentist all together for five years now! I have never made a follow up appointment at any of these past dental offices we have gone to, simply because we did not want to go back and be subjected again to the things I mentioned above. As of today, my entire family has now gone to Dr. Tsai's office. First my daughter last month, then my wife and son a few weeks ago, and myself today. For each of our visits at Millbrae Dental Care, there have been no up charges, no mishaps with insurance, no fraudulent dated services offered, and no "necessary" dental products pushed upon us to buy. What we did receive was friendly service upon entering the office. Starting with Mark and Heather up front, we were all greeted with a friendly hello, courteous smile, and a seamless check in process. My daughter had her cleaning done by Dr. Tsai, my wife's teeth (and mine) were cleaned by Le, and my son's cleaning was done by Kayla. Each and every one of us had a pain free experience, leaving us with spectacularly clean teeth! After our cleanings were done, Dr. Tsai evaluated our teeth, showed us our x-rays, gave us each feedback of how we are doing with our daily dental hygiene, and explained to us our overall health of our teeth. It has been a long road to finding a dental practice I can trust, not just for myself, but for my entire family. Millbrae Dental Care is THAT place. It's been 4+ years since I've been to the dentist and I finally got dental coverage under my husband's insurance when we got married last year. I didn't know what to expect with this dental office but I was very eager to come in for my first cleaning in years. At any first visit to a new dentist, if they can not access your records from your previous dentist you must get x-rays and that's what was done to me. When it came to my cleaning, Le the dental hygienist worked on me. I really liked how he consistently communicated with me; he explained what he was going to do next and was very professional about the whole process. He even told me how long the cleaning process was going to take. Dr. Tsai didn't work on me b/c she was working on another patient but met with me after my cleaning session was over. I got a chance to know her as she assessed my teeth. I was complaining of pain when I drink hot and cold. After further assessing, it appeared I would need a crown. So I came in for another appointment and Dr. Tsai worked on me and her gentle handwork made it painless. She is very, very courteous always saying, "Turn to your heard to the right or left" and always ends with a "please" and "thank you". She also periodically would ask if I was okay. Her soft spoken voice is so soothing and her sweet smile will make you feel right at home. In the end, I had to return for several more work. Turned out the pain I complained about had ended up that I needed a root canal. It was two sessions and each session Dr. Tsai performed efficiently, professionally, and she knows her stuff! Almost a month later, I can say I am very happy with the results! I am all smiles with high satisfaction!!! Her place is with top of the line, high tech equipment and I love the fact that she is computer savvy. And when I was feeling pain from my first root canal session, I had called her office on a Friday - they're closed but front reception was available to take calls. Her husband Mark who helps out put me through a conference call with Dr. Tsai with any concerns I was experiencing. I loved the fact that Dr. Tsai was that easy and accessible to reach at any time!!! This eased my worrying and she ended up calling in for a prescription to manage the pain I was experiencing. Dr. Tsai is young but very well knowledgeable and trained in her professional. Her staff has etiquette and manners. I love how Dr. Tsai and her team excudes true professionalism and take pride in their work! By the way, I have a 3-month year old and Dr. Tsai welcomes bringing your child to the work room and have the child be in the same room with you. Also, one time I needed to breastbump and Dr. Tsai accommodated my situation by allowing me to bump in a quiet room, and even allowed me to store my milk in their kitchen fridge. I have had appointments with Dr. Tsai over the years, and she has always been very nice, thorough, and professional. She changed all of my metal filling to be white filling because of my request. I were a little about the leaking of mercury from metal filling. Just for my own peace of mind :) She also did the crown for me, I didn't feel pain at all when she cleaned my root canal. Thanks to her gentle ! The staffs there always nice, and says 'hi' to me everytime I visited. Le was the one whom did the yearly cleaning for me. I had my first visit at Millbrae dental care & I am so please with my experience. Everything was explained well & upfront! Dr. Tsai was very patient with explaining where I had problems & showed me pictures of my own teeth to support all her recommendations. They were all within reason & didn't push for any unnecessary work to be done. This is great because it gives me the peace of mind that they won't be charging me extra costs when it's not necessary & it shows her expertise. The receptionists were both very friendly & explained all the costs upfront & provided a detailed breakdown so I know there aren't any hidden costs. I am also pleased that they accept dual insurances & they let me know anything that would go over my maximum this year they will monitor to see if there's anything I can push off to next year. The hygienist was also very friendly & provided excellent education on the best ways to keep my teeth in check & even convinced me I should be more adamant about flossing (which is hard because I'm not good about flossing daily). I've used this place for both my sleep apnea device, and some dental cleanings, each time I've been the experience was exceptional. The front desk is always helpful and friendly. Mark, I'm not sure what his official title is, but he's helped me along the way with everything related to my visits, including spending a lot of time feeding me info before I was even sure if I was going to use them for their services! He's incredibly friendly and helpful, knowledgeable too. His over the top customer service and consistent follow ups were what ultimately made me choose to go here. I live in the South Bay, so this is a bit of a hike to get to, but that speaks to the level of customer service I've received...it was worth the long drive every time. Lee did my cleanings...and he was awesome as well. I hadn't been to the dentist for around 10+ years before coming in and he made the whole process as painless as he could. I had bad experiences with dentists a decade ago, which kept me from going back....but Lee and the staff at this place has changed my perception around. Probably the best dental experience I've ever had in my life, and I'm saying that after getting a wisdom tooth pulled. I absolutely loathed going to the dentist in the past, and I was really nervous for this first appointment here since I had never had a tooth pulled before, but the people working at the front desk were so kind, and Dr. Tsai's assistants were very sweet and tried their best to make me feel as comfortable as possible. Dr.Tsai was also so kind and professional and explained everything that she was doing, what it should feel like, and that'd she'd be happy to numb me up some more if I did happen to feel any pain. After getting really frustrated with my corporate dental care location, I finally took my uncle's advice and called Millbrae Dental Care to make an appointment with Dr. Tsai. I talked to Mark on the phone and he was really nice! (such a change from the office i was working with before) We set up an appointment and he sent me a welcome email right away. When i got to the office, I filled out some minor paper work and in the next 10 mins from my arrival time, i was sitting in the chair, getting digital x-ray's taken (first visit/ new patient procedures). The office was clean and semi modern, but not uncomfortable. They were playing music, maybe KOIT, or some other mellow radio station, which was nice. I did notice that they had a lot of Invisalign ads all over the office...but otherwise, it was decorated nicely, and didn't have the tense feel of a typical dentist office. Le was my dental hygenist and he was very friendly, knowledgeable, thorough and gentle. After he took the x-ray's he went to develop them and maybe 10 mins or less later, we were looking at my full mouth x-ray's on the computer. He pointed out causes for concern, then taught me a little about how to look at the x-rays. I felt like I was learning a lot. He gave me a pair of UV sunglasses to wear and then cleaned my teeth with some kind of UV water pick. After that, he scraped my teeth the old fashioned way. Every tooth was given attention. And then he polished them and then flossed me. Le spent a good amount of time taking care of my teeth. In between procedures, we'd chat about nothing, it was nice...very relaxing. He also pointed out things I'd never been told by any dentist/hygenist, but i thought it was useful information. They also had this fancy camera in the exam room. Le used it to take digital photos of some of my teeth to make me more aware of their condition. He'd hold up this tiny tooth camera, hold it still, click, and bam! it was on the computer screen! It was so high tech! Very impressive. After Le was done cleaning my teeth, he gave me a goodie bag! You know where else grown up's get goodie bags? Nowhere! (Later, i looked inside, and there was quite a variety of quality things in it...including but not limited to: a toothbrush (the kind i specified that i used on my patient chart), floss, a travel size toothpaste, and a sample of trident xtra care gum!). Shortly after, Dr. Tsai came in and introduced herself. She was friendly yet professional...and very knowledgeable from the get go. She told me a bit about her background and how she's still going to school to further her knowledge in her field, which I thought was great! She also explained that she specialized in neuromuscular dentistry. (read more about it on www.neuromusculardentistry.com (very interesting stuff)). I really liked the fact that while she is a dentist and she takes care of your teeth, she's also aware of how your teeth and their structure can affect other physiological happenings in your body. She and Le talked about my teeth, he pointed out things he thought she should take a look at and she looked at them. No one has ever told me I need braces, but both Le and Dr. Tsai suggested it. I asked her if she thought it would be extremely necessary, and she was very straightforward and honest. She wasn't trying to sell me anything but was really just making a suggestion based upon her knowledge and had facts to prove her reasoning. I felt like she was very genuine, honest, friendly and professional. The ladies at the front desk were also very friendly. Overall, I had a great first visit. One of many more. read more
