Great winery. Loved sitting upstairs with a glass of wine and friends. Lovely in the fall and spring especially!

We've been to this winery many times over the years and are members of their case club. The beautiful location always adds to the experience and occassionally picnic by the pond. They seem to have a wine for every palate. Some are much better than others. Of the wineries in the Hudson Valley, this place is probably the best for the complete wine tasting experience. It's not Napa but they aren't far from capturing the Napa feel! read more

Took a drive up the Hudson to Hyde Park and the FDR Home and Museum then wandered over to the vineyard. Lovely drive and in a few more weeks will be spectacular! When we arrived it was buzzing with many winetastings going on and much purchasing of their lovely selections. By chance pstairs there is a loft which had a gallery opening that was wonderful. We enjoyed our wine and chatted with the artists and locals. Lovely balconey to gaze out ove the vineyards. We walked thrrough a section of the vineyard and down to the pond which was quite idealic. Folks were enjoying their own picnics or food from the grill outdoors. Lovely distination in the Hudson River area. After that drove to Poughkeepsie and the Walkway over the Hudson and dinner at The Ice House. A fabulous day along the Hudson.Try it all you'll love it. read more

The winery requires you to take their wine your as part of the wine tasting. I've never been to any wineries that mandated this. There was only one line to pay, which took more than 15 mins waiting. The food (just a burger) took forever to come. It actually never came until we asked 30 mins later. And it was cold so had to go back and tell them. Grounds were nice, but service bad. Come only if you have time to spare. read more

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a friendly female employee, she explained to us the prices for tasting/tours. We did the tour with Bruce, he was great and he made us laugh. You get so much info and you get to taste quite a few glasses of wine. I enjoyed my afternoon, I didn't have time to eat there, but I plan to return and make time to eat at the grill. Millbrook Winery is one of my favorites. I live about an hour and half away but I visit at least 8 to 10 times a year. Beautiful location. Very friendly staff. Nice tastings. Great wine. Their New York State Chardonnay is our white of choice with a nice dinner. read more

I'd love to give more than 5 stars! My fiancée surprised me with a trip to Millbrook. We took the train and a small bus was promptly waiting right outside the train station to take us to the Vineyard. It was about a 30 minute ride from the train station. We arrived and had a lovely tour followed by a tasting. I can honestly say I've never seen such a beautiful location!! The grounds are truly wonderful! We spoke with a woman (possibly a manager?) and she let us take the later bus back to the train station so we could enjoy more of the grounds! Bought a few bottles and wandered around. Took the wine trail (DEFINITELY worth the work up some of those steep hills) and my breath was taken away by how beautiful it was! This little day escape was easily one of my favorite day trips in 5+ years living in the city! The wines were all pretty amazing, the staff was SO incredibly sweet!!! We had lunch (from the café) at a picnic table by the lake! Overall, amazing experience! Can't wait to take family and friends visiting back to the vineyard! Also, the prices, I still can't get over them! Such an incredible deal!!! The tour, bus, wine, food- all great values! read more

The grounds are beautiful, but that's about it. We took the $25 bus from the Poughkeepsie train station. It was so oversold, that everyone was uncomfortably jammed in--3 people to each 2-person seat, and 2 people to each single seat--for the 40 minute ride to the vineyard. When we arrived, we were told that the tour was $10, and the tasting another $25. So, the original $25 each was basically for a taxi ride from the train station. We'd have been much better off simply calling a taxi for far less than $25 per person, and much more comfortable, or renting a car. We signed up for the tour and the tasting, both worse than mediocre. The tour was neither educational, nor interesting. The tasting was rushed, we received almost no information on the wines. The whites are fine, but not great. One of the reds was literally undrinkable. We overheard a woman near us say, "this smells like gym locker." She was not exaggerating. To make things more awkward, one of the employees appeared in the middle of the tasting and asked everyone in the group to show their receipts to prove that they paid for the tasting. None of the employees seemed happy to be there, and the whole operation is poorly run. If you go for the grounds, bring a picnic and don't waste your time with the overpriced shuttle service or tour/tasting. read more

I love the Millbrook Vineyards - signed up as a case club member right away so we get some extra savings. I like the hunt country white in the summer - goes down really easy :) And they have a lot of reds that I like when it cools down outside a bit. read more

We booked a weekend trip in the sleepy town of Millbrook and absolutely loved the winery. On Friday nights they have food trucks and yard games: wonderful food, wine, ambience, and views. We also booked a Reserve Tasting, which was totally worth the extra money. We sampled some amazing wine we wouldn't try otherwise, and our sommelier was so knowledgeable and personable. It also ended up being a private tasting because no one else booked that time. After the tasting we went upstairs to enjoy a glass of wine and the view out on the patio. All of the staff is friendly, as were the other patrons, and the music was lovely. We could've spent the whole weekend at the vineyard. Cannot recommend enough. read more

I'm beginning to see a trend in my short vacay upstate: I was drunk. Got tipsy here too, with a $7.50. The host was very generous, pouring more than half the glass full for each of the 7 wines we tasted. Since my boyfriend and I are only aspiring members of the nouveau riche, he gave us a quick but thorough lesson on how to taste wine, without being condescending or embarrassing us at all, and even explaining why you do each of the steps. He told me that you can spit the wine out to avoid being drunk, but who wants to avoid being drunk? The vineyard itself was absolutely beautiful: huge rolling mountains with views of the Catskills. Even though we went when they had just finished pruning the vines, the view alone was a marvel. As for the wine itself, I've always disliked red, and this experience made me realize I didn't like it because I didn't know how to appreciate it (or whites fully, for that matter), so the tasting helped me see the beauty in all of them and they obviously sell everything they grow and make there. read more

SAVE YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY! $10 to taste 6 mainly mediocre wines? First, they make you wait for a "tour". I wanted to do a tasting, and while the boss and 2 other employees stand around doing nothing, I wait 10 minutes for this "tour" to return. Then, the tasting.........Bruce pours wine with a shaky hand and pontificates about nonsense, puts down other wines, and portrays himself as some kind of expert. He is not--in fact knows very little about wine. Other than the Tocai, which is decent but way overpriced, the wines here are nothing special. Dozens of Finger Lakes wineries produce superior products at a much better price. AVOID THE PRETENSE. read more

I was looking for a way to celebrate our friends 25th wedding anniversary when I saw an offer on Bloomspot for the Vineyard Express. When we got to the vineyard I felt as if I were a hundreds of miles from home. We were greeted by a friendly staff, who recommended that we have lunch before our tour in that the grill would be closing at 3pm... we were escorted to the grille. Lunch was delicious and came with a glass of wine. I had the Vin Gris, and my husband had the Chardonnay Reserve ($2 extra) We each liked our wines. We were so comfortable sitting by the beautiful lake, that we almost forgot why we were there. We then went on a tour of the vineyard. The tour was both informative and interesting. The last part of day glorious day was the wine tasting. We are novices, but Nathan guided us through each wine with much patience . Lastly went upstairs to take a look at the art on display. I was very impressed by the beautiful space as well as the amazing view from the balcony. We left with a lovely gift bag and feeling so relaxed and happy that Millbrook Vineyards exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend taking a day trip to Millbrook Vineyards . read more

THE NIGHTMARE WEDDING EXPERIENCE: we will say that this vineyard is a gorgeous venue for a wedding if it only weren't for their rude and unprofessional staff. 8 months after our initial consultation and agreement, Millbrook Winery managers went back on the agreement laid before us during our initial conversations. Their wedding contract to begin with is super vague and does not cover most their supposed word of mouth policies. To make a long story short, 1 month before our wedding the hours of operation changed for the day of the wedding without informing us and we had to change our hours after having sent out invitations. They made us change the location on the property where our ceremony and reception were going to take place because of an event that they were holding that day that we were also not told about. We had to drive up there during a work week to settle this and made it work, but the managers were not at all concerned or sympathetic to the amount of stress they caused us. The day of the wedding, they argued with our caterers over prearranged arrangements made with their manager. A manager was on site all day and at the end of the night, the manager dismissed the caterers as soon as the site was cleaned and met their standards. We went off on our honeymoon only to receive emails with pictures of garbage strewn about their vineyard. They complained that the caterers left without cleaning. I called my caterers and we reiterated that a manager was on site the day of and the site was not left like this. They disregarded my statements and emailed me back that the caterers had 2 days to come and clean. They would not answer or return phone calls. Mind you, we were on our honeymoon. I put a stop payment on the deposit because this was not being resolved in a civil fashion by getting to the bottom of what exactly happened that night through conversation. IT seemed as though they were messing with us. Without saying, they attempted to take the security deposit 1 day later and stated in an email that they got tired of seeing the mess and cleaned it up themselves even though they gave us 2 days to get it cleaned. So this was an obvious game they played to hassle us. The stop payment was made in Mexico and went through in time. I never heard back from them. Good riddance to the folks at Millbrook Winery. read more

Went here with my husband on a rainy Saturday afternoon, as we were walking inside a bus full of people showed up but we were able to get a tasting spot quickly. The wine, especially the reds, were delicious, however I have to give it only 3 stars because the tasting staff was extremely disorganized. Registering to taste felt like a facade, like they had it together more so than was let on. Our server had just started 2 days ago which was fine, but the other server, Jean looked at us and said "I'll be right with you" and then completely ignored us. They kept switching on and off on who was pouring our next taste and the wait time in between tastings was 5-10 minutes. At one point, Jean was whispering to our server, I'm assuming about a task to do since he was new but I felt completely uncomfortable. Our server had wine to pour for us on the table and as he was discussing our next pour, Jean came over and snatched the bottle of wine from us and placed it next to the people she was serving. Our server had to go over and ask her if he can use it for us which she said "I guess you can pour it but give it right back." The vibe was extremely discomforting and, because of this, I didn't want to give them my business by purchasing their wine, which was unfortunate because it was delicious. I love going here! My college friends visited so we went for a wine tasting. They give you a decent amount (you can definitely get buzzed so be ready to spend some time after walking the grounds), get to keep your glass at the end (has the I love NY logo on it and their logo), and you get a glass upstairs at the end pending what tasting you do. They commonly have groupons that you can purchase and if you buy 12 bottles you become a PSR member where you get discounted wine, a free bottle of choice on your birthday month, and unlimited free tastings for you plus one guest. Yes, I became a PSR member and it's such a great thing to do over the weekend if you have no plans or want to take someone visiting. The grounds are gorgeous and you pretty much have free range. They also have jazz concerts there on Saturday nights in the summer and a grill open during the day for food. I personally prefer to go upstairs and get the cheese platter and drink another glass with the platter. read more

We took a drive on a beautiful fall Sunday and ended up at our destination, Millbrook Vineyards. What a absolutely beautiful setting and the winery is stunning. We took a tasting tour and our guide Amanda was very friendly, knowledgeable and easy going. We ended up having a picnic lunch and enjoying a bottle of wine. We purchased several more for the ride home, just kidding and will cherish the memories of a special day with special people. read more

Six of us went to Millbrook today for a tour and wine tasting. I had called twice to make sure we didn't need reservations, etc. Neither time was I informed that there would be a wedding taking place today so that the later tours (we went on one at about 3:30) would be totally rushed. There were at least 40 people in our group (the next one appeared to have about 15) and the tour was very rushed. The people at the back (at least half the group) hadn't even entered some of the rooms before the tour guide had finished, let alone started, his tour and we were off to the next room. The tasting came at the end of the tour. Very small pours of 5 wines and we were literally rushed out of the room to accommodate the wedding. No olive oil tasting..no biscuit tasting, which we learned later were supposed to be part of the deal. It was a gorgeous holiday weekend, but they could have done a much better job at group sizing and timing of the tour so that our group of six (and several other groups)didn't leave feeling rushed and somewhat "taken"by the brief tour, and less than expected tasting experience. read more
