I came here for a tour and tasting, not for a meal. I've been on probably almost 100 distillery tours across the globe. This was by far the best tour I've ever had. It provided a detailed and hands on explanation of their entire process and the history of the property. It was truly exceptional! Their distilled spirits are excellent. I'm a whiskey fan and their product does not disappoint! While I'm not a huge gin drinker, their gin is incredibly unique and provides a complex tasting experience! Their vodka has a unique creamy texture on the tongue and was also excellent! The final tasting was performed in a beautiful private room where they rent out liquor lockers to frequent visitors! I only wish I lived closer so I could be a regular visitor! read more

It's a lovely building, beautifully built. But the bar side of things is lacking. It takes something to be a good bartender who cannot only mix a great drink but tend to patrons at the bar. And unfortunately you won't find this here. Enjoy the space but don't expect much of a good bar scene. read more

BEAUTIFUL place!! It was actually a little intimidating upon entering this great big hall with high ceiling and rustic chic decor with my 2 kids. A flash of "maybe we should've left the kids at home" thought entered my mind but was quickly reassured by friendly staff greeting us and seating us promptly. A pleasant surprise that they have Thai food here at the distillery. No kids menu but my kids love regular menu food, so no issues. We shared the veggie spring rolls as appetizers. The spring rolls were very small, probably 2-3 bite size, but delicious. We are all very happy with the portion and taste of our main dishes: green curry, spicy minced pork (forgot the name), and pad Thai. Veggie in the dish tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. We all finished the dishes without any leftovers with just enough room for dessert. They only had 1 dessert: NY cheese cake with Thai sauce. I'm guessing this changes from day to day, so we ordered one to share.... Good thing we did! The dessert was $16! Yacks, it was good, but I thought it was a bit pricey. Then again, this place is quite fancy so we knew it wasn't going to a cheap lunch. For reference, the main dishes range $22-34. Mixed drinks $14-$18... Our bill came to $175ish, so a little over $200 meal with tip. They also have a large outdoor space for the kids to run around. Cool large slabs of stone formation. You can order more drinks at the bar and bring the drinks outside. Very nice place, we'll be back. read more

Since our last visit Tenmile Distillery added a restaurant, Thai Baan, served in a stunning room. Service: Warm and welcoming from the minute you set foot into this gorgeous eatery. Food: Luscious and exotic for the area. Drinks: Well, you are in a distillery, but mocktails are available for those who must abstain. Hop off Metro North and it's just a hop, skip and jump down the road. It's like a mirage in the middle of a food desert! read more

The good is a beautiful place with a very nice and professional staff. The drinks and selections are world class. The bad is the food which is Thai and of poor quality.,.. poor menu.,.. never ever any changes to the menu..... the food is unimaginative, boring ingredients, somehow it does not feel really good Thai food...... it is just mediocre in all aspects. Out of 10 I give it a 3,5. And the dessert choices are also poor. Have a drink at the lovely bar with an appetizer and you will enjoy the experience. read more

Ambiance is stellar, very beautiful gardens, views and decor. As for the food...meh. The fried spring rolls were the same as the ones sold at costco. I had a surf and turf and I would give it zero stars. The steak was 1/3 inedible fat, and what was "edible" was a chore to cut and chew. The lobster tail was rubbery, dry and tasteless, like it was frozen, cooked in a microwave and then refrozen. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, but for $70 it is unforgiveable. read more

What a great place to spend the day with friends and family. The rustic barn is beautifully decorated, clean and bigger than I thought. We did a 2 hour tour and tasting which was both informative and entertaining. We bought some drinks to take on the tour with us then afterwards we stayed for a late lunch and another cocktail. The Thai food was delicious. All of us enjoyed it. Yes excellent Thai food at a distillery. The only knock I have is that the drinks are rather expensive, especially for a place that wants you to purchase a bottle. Otherwise the staff, food, cocktails and the whole experience is well worth the trip. Can't wait to return. read more

This place is just great. First, the setting is gorgeous. Someone spent an absurd amount of money on the interior, gorgeous wide-board floors, high quality all around. The landscaping is also beautiful, especially the back patio setting, with the trees in the near field. Second, the food is just great. There are some good restaurants in the Hudson Valley, like Stissing House, but they tend to skew American. This place uses lovely local food but completely differently (Thai) really good Chef. read more

We had a confirmed reservation last Friday for an outdoor seating in the restaurant Thai Baan for four people. We arrived at the restaurant and we were told no outdoor seating will be available and we cannot seat inside since our friends brought their small dog. We were told the only way to be served is go to the bar and order a take out food! There were few people seated outside and having their drinks (it was not too hot around 80F), so we decided ok we will give it a try. We went to the bar and ordered our cocktails and eventually food to have a nice dinner outside as we have planned and reserved it. Guess what - it took one hour to get any food served and we were told we will have to eat of plastic containers as they refused to serve us regular plates! Absolutely shocking and my pleas with their manager Jason went nowhere - actually he was rather rude about it. There was nobody outside, but us by the time food has finally arrived in cheap plastic containers. You pay $36 for lamb dish on your Friday night out, order two appetizers and four main courses, you wait one hour and they bring everything together in a big bag for self service! I have never had such an unpleasant experience in a restaurant. Hope the owner of Tensile Distillery reads this as the lack of flexibility (not to mention a simple phone call before we showed up advising us there will be no seating outside) is simply beyond reason. Jason should run something else than a restaurant ! The only nice person there was our bartender and we felt sorry for him. read more

A buddy of mine and I went to Tenmile Distillery, chosen primarily because it is so close to the Tenmile train station, where we were picking up his wife and kids coming in from Manhattan that afternoon. Easily walkable from the train station (Metro North out of the city), so we could sit at the bar with our whiskeys and wait for the family to arrive. Very convenient! Very nice and spacious place, with ample seating at the bar at the far end of the facility, tables inside and out. They had the first batch of their whiskey for sale. We had a small sample, and then decided to have a glass each. It was good, but tasted a little young. Might have been better if it aged a little longer. Still, quite enjoyable. A little on the expensive side though, at $22 a glass. With tax and tip, we were close to $60 when we left. I enquired about a bottle, thinking maybe I might take one back. That would have set me back $189. The bartender indicated that it was their first batch, and numbered. The numbering suggests that they were targeting the collector crowd. Fine if you're into that, but I wasn't. She also indicated that the next batch would be cheaper (about $80), and if we bought the first batch, we could keep our number for the second and subsequent batches. Again, obviously targeting the collectors. We are not them. The distillery does serve food, and they seem to have a really nice setup outside. We didn't stay here for that, and I can't comment on it. But I certainly liked the setup and ambience. Might try it another time. read more

Tenmile Distillery is a hidden gem! Visiting Tenmile is like visiting a genuine Scottish distillery. We booked a tour on a Saturday afternoon online. The online booking system is very easy to use. The basic tours are free of charge. Our tour guide, Chris, was a knowledgeable young man. He provided an excellent tour of the operation. We've toured many distilleries in Scotland, and Tenmile is on par with the very best. The tour ended at the bar, and Tenmile provided complimentary tastings. Fantastic! Tenmile produces a Scotch-style whisky that's equal to the very best in the world. We also sampled the vodka and gin. The vodka was outstanding. The hall and bar feature beautiful woodwork. Came for some evening cocktails after seeing it listed as a suggested destination in HV. It was disappointing to be ignored by the staff repeatedly while seated at the bar. It took at least 15 minutes to get a greeting. There was zero check in's and we had to flag down the staff to close the tab. Drink prices are reasonable but flavor was plain at best. I personally would not recommend coming all the way out here for a drink. You'd be better off at places like Hudson House Distillery or Feast and Floret in comparison. read more

Tenmile Distillery is in Wassaic, NY. The drive is quite beautiful and scenic. Then you arrive at the distillery and you are transported to Scotland. The building, the grounds, the water flowing, just a picturesque setting. Tom greets us at the door and you see the lovely stills. Tom hands us off to Chris for our tour on a nice Saturday afternoon. The great hall is just lovely and I love the attention to detail. Chris gives us a lovely tour of this gorgeous distillery and how everything is made, very impressive. Tenmile uses all NY companies for the making of their gin, vodka, and whisky. I love the support of local farms and businesses for the best quality ingredients. The stills are gorgeous and the whole process is wonderful to see and the smells are amazing. Then we get to see the barrel room and the smells are amazing. We were able to see all aspects of the spirits making process and bottling. Then we went to the tasting room and such a lovely bar area. The vodka is amazing. The smell is floral but the taste is unlike any vodka I have ever had. I am not a fan of gin but Tenmile gin is the only gin I like. It is perfectly balanced without the overwhelming flower taste. Now whisky, WOW, blew me away! I have been to Scotland, been to over 30 distilleries, owned many bottles of Scotch and even Whisky from Asia, this is amazing whisky! This is a hidden gem and is worth the trip to try incredible spirits and whisky that rival any Scottish distillery. read more

We've visited this distillery several times since it opened but our visit on Saturday 7/15 was truly memorable. As always, the spirits and bar staff were 5 star aces. Personable, professional and informative only start the description of superlatives. The food was top notch. It was innovative, local, healthy and worked nicely with the beverages. Highlight of the day was a tour led by a rep handling the tasting room and he was aces in terms of information offered and handling questions from the attentive guests. This is a business that listens to its patrons and aims to at least please, if not exceed even the most demanding of expectations. From the cleanliness of the kitchen to the ambiance of the tasting room and politeness of the food and beverage staff, they're hitting home runs. Hope to see you there soon. read more

Finally got to try the new distillery and the facility was world class and the drinks were very good! However, the drinks were rather pricey for a distillery. The whole point of having a destination distillery is to have you try their alcohols and start buying their brands of gin, vodka and whiskey. Any distillery I've been to, and I've been to many, typically offer their drinks are reasonable prices since there is no middle man and you end up leaving with a couple bottles. Not here as their drink prices average $16 for a single! $18 for a single of any whisky drink! Dennings point a double is &12 despite lack of ambience. This is a gorgeous, fun place to visit upstate, just a two hour drive from NYC. Or you can easily take the Metro North from Grand Central and it drops you off feet from the distillery at Tenmile River stop. Tenmile is a really traditional Scottish style distillery, using local, small farm New York State ingredients. You can also get great cocktails at the bar there, and they often do cool food events. Everyone is lovely, and its a perfect day for the family with the sweeping pretty apple orchard there as well. read more
