Miller Towing Service of Stroud, Ok, (THEY SEEN ME COMING)
At around 10:30PM Friday night March 15th my Truck blew a heater hose a little over 30 miles north of Oklahoma City at the exit of I-35 and Ok-51. I looked on my Garman GPS for 24-hr truck service and found H&H 24 hr service close by. When I called them, their answering machine said they were unavailable and to call Justin at Miller Towing. I called Miller and I told the driver what was wrong and he said he would bring hose and antifreeze. After a long wait he showed up and said it was about 82 miles to that point. I later looked it up on my map and saw that instead of taking two lane roads he had followed the I-44 tollway into Oklahoma City and then went north on I-35. If he would have taken the two lane he would have saved about 20 miles. Of course he charged me by the mile in the bill. I guess if he would have routed himself to Dallas he would have charged me that distance too. The weather was warm and dry, so there was no problem with the weather. He didn't have to diagnose anything because I showed him what was wrong. I removed the hose clamps before he arrived so all he had to do was pull the hose off and replace it with another 8" x 34" heater hose. The hose was easily accessible so it only took a minute. Then I helped him pour the antifreeze into the truck. This all took not much more than 15 minutes. Figuring out the bill took longer than the actual work. When he showed me the bill I was flabbergasted ($753.00). Yes, that's right $753 to replace an 8" heater hose in about 15 minutes time. The Call out and mileage was $246, The labor $297, that's more than $600 an hour (if you give him about a half hour for the total time he was there), the antifreeze was $195, heater hose $6 and he also charged me $8 turnpike fee. Total $753.00 This is the most extreme fee I have ever witnessed in my 35 years of trucking. I have never had to pay for a driver to drive out of the way and charge not only mileage but also toll fee, when it was totally unnecessary. Fifteen minutes of work for $297. Lawyers and doctors don't even charge fees like that. If you see a truck broke down on the side of the highway with Miller Trucking from Stroud or Tulsa Oklahoma on their door, you know what to do! read more
