The story is too long to explain but he went way above and beyond the call of duty and when I tried to pay him even more than he charged for his services, he refused. 5 stars is not enough. I'd think the only horse in a one horse town would have some value; and I suppose even horsesh$t can be fertilizer. These guys are the only horse in town and they smell like a dirty diaper in a rodeo stall. If you have a Chevy or another American made car or truck they may help you out but dad-gummit it if your vehicle is anything other than the red white and blue variety, you will get a swift kick out of the lot. Even worse they take on your vehicle and cry like a grown babies about actually working on it. And when it comes to the quality of their work I wouldn't recommend them for anything more than a tire change. The sad truth is behind all their failings is a group of guys who can probably do great work if they wanted to. Without local competition your options are limited to Bishop or Ridgecrest. Miller's has undoubtedly helped out thousands of people over the years; and they've also left scores of others in the lurch. They say don't look a gift horse in the mouth, but there are greener pastures up the road...if you can get there. read more

We pulled into our RV site just south of Lone Pine on Sunday afternoon and noticed one of our 5th wheel tires was worn a lot worse than we thought. We called roadside assistance. They contacted Miller's who said they didn't have a driver available. I told them that if someone was there by 8am that would be fine. Roadside assist said we would be contacted by Miller's in the morning with an ETA. This morning I called roadside assist to get status on our ETA. I was told that Miller's called to cancel the dispatch. Roadside assist even offered him more money. He still refused to come out. Roadside assist then contacted the next closest towing service which was 49 miles away in Bishop. We were told it would be 3hrs before Tow service in Bishop could be there. My husband and I (70 yr olds) got the RV up on leveling blocks and got the tired changed in an hour. Miller Towing You Suck!! read more

This is one of those places that makes you lose faith in humanity. We were on our way home from a long week of camping, pulling our trailer in 105 degree heat. We blew a tire and were able to fix it, however my husband was concerned with the pressure of the other tires and wanted to purchase a replacement in case of another flat so I called Miller. We were in independence--approximately 15 minutes away. The man informed me "to hurry because they were closing at 3:00". We arrived at 3:01 to a less-than-happy proprietor who then charged an extra $75 for keeping him there late. We were out of there in less than 20 minutes--which was nice...but disappointing at the sense that they have no problem taking advantage of situations. read more

Miller's towing was very helpful while I was driving through Death Valley National Park. Unfortunately my brakes went out while exploring the park. Luckily I was able to make it to Lone Pine where they were very friendly and helpful replacing my back breaks so I could continue my camping adventure up highway 395. They explained everything and showed me what went wrong on my car which I appreciated since it's always a hit or miss with new mechanics. Jim the owner is a good dude. He looks you in the eye when he discusses your car. He comes recommended by others in the area. Pretty busy shop. He likes to use quality parts. Works an 8 hr day and calls it quits. I ran into some time constrains with my over heating Altima and had to go somewhere else to get the coolant changed but I left with a good impression. Torn, profession work, unprofessional behavior. Driver tried to get me to hitch hike part of the way to the incident in Death Valley to "save him some time" and the first words out of his mouth when hie picked me up were "I'm the only one who would answer your f*cking call." BTW it was not my call, it was through the emergency services vendor used by Cruise America. The service was quick and professional but daaamn, when you are stuck in the middle of nowhere who needs the stress of a cranky driver. read more

Our check engine light came on while driving to June mountain. The car would then not allow us to accelerate. We had to pull over turn it off and restart it. We pulled into millers they were really nice and very helpful. Very honest service. They diagnosed the problem and rec going to Chevy dealership. While traveling through Lone Pine, we experienced some problems with our brakes. Since Miller's Towing was the only shop in town, we headed over there. They were rude from the beginning, didn't listen to us when we told them we had receipts for recent work done on the brakes, said that they called us to get an approval on a part/repair when they didn't, took 3 days to fix it (always blaming someone else for the problems), and didn't handle the warranty that we had from NAPA properly. Overall, the whole thing was a mess, but we felt completely stuck because they were the only game in town! Also, the mechanic we worked with was a "know it all" and made us feel like we were idiots who didn't know anything about our truck, despite the fact that we had an entire folder of receipts from all the repairs we've had done in the past 4 years. When we spoke to the owner and the NAPA dealer about not handling the warranty properly (Miller's refused to fill out the necessary paperwork from NAPA), we got stuck in the middle of a long standing mistrust between the owner of Miller's and the local NAPA dealer and never got back all of what we were charged. We would never recommend working with them under any circumstances. They are liars, cheated us out of a valid warranty, and rude. Have your car towed to Ridgecrest or anywhere else. read more

The lug nuts for one of the wheels all broke off causing the wheel to come off about 10 miles out of Lone Pine. I had AAA tow our truck and trailer to Millers, once we got there we met Jess who is one of the mechanics, Jess told it was to late to do anything with the truck so he told us we could stay in our trailer there and use their electricity over night. we decided just to stay in a room so Jess immediately got us the number for the Best Western 1/2 mile away. The next day it took time to get the parts but Jess did his best to get us going. Parts held us up another day but as soon as they came in Jess got it all together and we were out of there. In my lifetime I have gotten myself into some precarious situation's and today was no different. While driving a moving truck back down from Reno I decided it would be a good idea to try a fishing spot that I have never been to before. In all my infinite wisdom I decided to treat the 16 foot box truck off-road. And as you can imagine I got stuck.. It was one of those situations where I needed help. There was no way I was getting this truck out. Luckily I had cell service and called Miller's towing. I spoke to John and told him what was going on and he said not a problem he was finishing his lunch and he would be right out there. As promised John showed up with a partner and like I'm sure they have done many times before, they safely pulled my truck out and got me back on the road. Today, myself, my 20 month old daughter, best friend and her 8 year old daughter were rear ended. It took over 4 hours for millers to arrive. They were rude, and un-prepared to assist in the conditions. when we expressed we needed to be transported to a city that offers rental car services one of the men from miller's raised his voice telling us it would not happen. About two miles into our trip, being towed still buckled into our vehicle they pulled over and asked us why we wanted to go to a near by city. They explained the towing fee would be $ 1500, then a third miller's employee (I assume because our driver filled him in on our request) offers to drive us the following day for a cash payment of $100 to $150. Upon arrival in lone pine, ca. They requested the keys to the vehicle, finished paper work, locked the doors and left all 4 of us on the side of the road without giving information in the town or the nearest hotel. read more

HIGHWAY ROBBERY! So after I spent two hours waiting for them to figure out if I had the tire ( to late to go anywhere else) i decided to get my tire that was quoted at 227 by the mechanic... He specifically wrote the size and what it would cost... Finally the tires are on and I should be on my way, the guy charging me (the owner I was told) then says..."Its 327 the guy made a mistake, I tell him no its 227 puls 15 rotation, he states " nope" and walk away with my credit card.. I tell him hold on I dont want it for that price, he tries to tell me that its dangerous for me to drive away and blah blah blah.. I tell him to take it off and he says Okay its 127 for our time. SERIOUSLY!!!!! Thats when I said Never mind leave your over priced tire on and youll be hearing from me! Seriously everyone should CONTACT THE INYO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU! and report their crocked business, its the owner and his assistant that change the prices on people!!! read more

He eventually found the owner of the local Napa Auto Parts who was out of town but got his employee to come in and sell me a tube. Another coupla stand up guys! read more

Who invented the automatically locking doors on my truck?!! I started the truck, my dog jumped inside on to the back seat, I closed the passenger side door and walked around to the driver's door...and it was locked! With the truck running. With my dog inside! It was a hot day and the AC wasn't on, so I panicked and called 911 who patched me through to Miller's Towing. Even though it was the film festival weekend, the driver arrived at my truck within 15 minutes and had the door unlocked in a jiffy. My dog was fine. read more

We were stranded in the middle of nowhere in Death Valley National Park. Our tire had been punctured & our new-ish car only came with fix a flat in a can & a pump. Not helpful when the side of your tire is punctured! We had VERY limited & spotty cell phone service but were able to get ahold of 911, who gave us the phone number for Miller's Towing. While we were initially apprehensive that they would not come get us that night (this was about 845 pm), he promised to come very early the next morning. The next morning, he showed up by 7:00 AM after driving 100+ miles to where we were. We saw why he didn't come at night! The drive was treacherous. He was very friendly, down to earth & helpful. He even brought us some coffee cakes he picked up from a store because he knew we had slept in our car all night. He was efficient & pleasant. Although this was certainly an expensive tow, we didn't feel like he over-charged us. They went out of their way to help us get a new tire & wheel at a reasonable price. This was a harrowing experience for us city-folk, but Millers Towing made it bearable. Thanks guys! read more

We were backing down a dirt(sand) road and became stuck in our truck. While trying to rock it out the rear tires caught a fence and wrapped around the axle. John Miller came and pulled us out, then lifted the rear end and cut the fence away. We were in a two wheel drive dual rear. Just need to say he was very professional and our bill was reasonable considering a 30 mile trip and 4 miles on sand road. read more

I cannot write to capability of Miller's Towing, but their auto repair business is extremely lacking in customer service. I called in at 8 A.M. and someone answered the phone,"Miller's Towing". I said I had an overheating problem. Before I could my whole sentence out and I was abruptly told to call back at 8:30 when the mechanic is on. Instead of calling back I drove to the shop and arrived around 08:30. I met an employee who, when I asked for help, handed me a form to fill out. I filled out the form and went back to hand it in, but all the employee's had left. I waited patiently for someone to return, but no one did. Every once and awhile an employee would walk past me to get a tool or something, but never acknowledged me. It was like I was invisible. At one point a parts delivery person came ini and one of the mechanics berated and insulted him right in front of me. I finally went out back and found an employee working on a gas tank. He said I had to wait for the owner. I asked when he might return and he said,"I don't know, some times he takes off and doesn't come back for a long time." I grabbed my form and headed elsewhere. Actually, I called Perry Motors in Bishop and they took me right in. They were pleasant and fixed my problem right away. They get five stars. I guess the employee's and owner of Miller Towing are secure in the employment and ownership and feel they can be abusive to the public without fear of loss of the business? I'd hate to see what they would do if they actually tried to fix a car. read more

On my way from Seal Beach, Ca. Going to Mammoth Mountain 3OO miles. 2nd time trip in my resent purchase 2004 Class C RV. Low mileage 32,000. Going north on Hwy 395 I stall out at the south end of Lone Pine. I Pull over. I restart and drive pass Millers Towing to the north end of Lone Pine and stall out. It's Friday 4:30pm. I call Good Sam Roadside Assistance. No out of pocket expense for towing. They send Millers Towing to tow me to their shop. Parked me outside their Shop. It's pass 5:00pm the shop is close. They told me that I could plug into their building for power. We spent our first night in our RV. Saturday 9:00am they open. They went to work quickly. Diagnose bad fuel pump. Part has to be order. Now its Tuesday Part has arrive at noon time. They install new fuel pump. Labor time 1 1/2hrs. Part cost a little more then it would have cost me. Put concerning what they charge me for labor. Millers Towing was fair with the charges. I'd highly recommend Miller's Towing, they helped us out of a very tough spot and were good people to do business with.Thanks again read more

We had a rented car with a flat tire. We went there to try to fix it and he told us that not only the flat tire was unfixable but the other rear tire was on the wires. Poor service and unbelievably high prices. Avoid at all costs. Calling a tow service in Ridgecrest or Bishop would be cheaper even with the added mileage. Fourteen mile trip(7 miles from yard) five minutes while I borrowed a lug wrench = $130. read more

Two weeks ago we were on our way to Mammoth when we blew our inside dully on our motor home right outside Bishop. We have Good Sam so we thought this would be a quick and easy fix. Our Good Sam rep. called all over to find our tire which by the way is a standard Michelin motor home tire. After 2 hours, he was finally able to locate one in Lone Pine which is 1 1/2 hours away. Unbelievable that there was nowhere in Bishop that had these tires. Our savior that day was Josh from Millers Towing. He had a heck of a time trying to get our two tires off - they were pretty well solidified. It was so hot and he was covered from head to toe with sweat and dirt. Great attitude, and was so apologetic that it took so long for someone to get there (it wasn't his fault - he came as soon as he was dispatched), and he got us up and running in an hour. GREAT service from Josh and John in his office. We will absolutely call them again if in need when we are in that area. Couldn't be happier. read more
