You can really taste the quality in every bite. The staff is also amazing, super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The location itself is spotless and has such a clean, bright vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. And honestly, the prices are pretty decent for the quality you're getting. No complaints here. This might officially be my new favorite spot in New Rochelle. They arrived about five minutes before the rest of us and grabbed an empty table while they waited. When we got there, the rest of us got in line to order. There were maybe five people ahead of us and plenty of empty tables. Before we even got to the counter, the owner walked over to our friends and told them they couldn't sit down before ordering. They explained that the rest of their party was already in line, but he kept insisting "that's not how it's done here" and got increasingly agitated. My friends finally asked, "Do you want us to leave?" He replied, "I'm not threatening you," but it certainly felt like he was. If that's the policy, then put up a sign. Put it on the front door, on the menus, or on the tables. Don't publicly scold customers for breaking a rule they had no way of knowing existed. It was embarrassing, especially since these were friends visiting from out of town. We left wondering why the owner was so worked up over people sitting at one of the many empty tables while the rest of their party waited in line to spend money. We've always enjoyed Stanz, but after today we won't be back. We'll be taking our lunch business down the street to Bluestone instead, where we've always been treated warmly.
