This all changed when I was advised my colleague was explicitly verbally addressed and invited to physical altercation by an employee of Redi-Quik after solely asking for prior discussed design elements created by the children in our program. The employee, after cursing multiple times at my colleague and advising him that the owner "f'n hates him" also went as far as to discredit the work of the kids in our program & also threaten to call the police. The level of disrespect that was given surprised and enraged us all. With that said, please think twice before taking your business here. I say this especially for all minorities or non profit organizations. We will be doing our earnest to provide commentary to all surrounding businesses and organizations to ensure a situation like this does not transpire again in the future.

If you want to be in the know about the Short North, read the Gazette. Even better, if you need to go back in time to answer a question, use the Gazette's website. (Or just use it for fun; you'll learn a lot of interesting things.) The website has all the old articles, and though they're not 100% accurate, they're usually pretty close. Even when you do a Google search, the Gazette usually pops up between the first and third spot with an article. The website also has a great A-Z directory of businesses in the district. It's mostly up-to-date, and I like that they keep the addresses of old businesses on there for quite a while too or the old locations if a business moves. Sometimes that stuff comes in handy. The only bad things about the website are that the photos and info on the homepage don't change very often and the site itself has some pretty shoddy layout, but when you have a small staff, you don't have much time to focus your energy on a website. The hardcopy publication comes out once a month. I like the hardcopy print better just because I like being able to hold something tangible in my hands. I even like getting a little newsprint on me from time to time. But the web/hardcopy combo is helpful in many situations.

Also I had done my own layout (using Word (with limited layout capabilities but all I had) and had created my own pdf, that seemed to print ok on my home printer, but I was not sure about column alignment when sending to an actual printer. I decided then to go to Yelp for ideas. There I found Metcalf Printing. It was located near the airport and near where I was going to stay in Columbus when attending my brother's memorial service. I started doing the online process on their site. It was pretty intuitive. But after uploading my pdf, I still had alignment concerns. I decided to call the number and got a nice reception. I was referred to Jeff Metcalf (the owner) who asked me some questions and then said, just email me the pdf and I will take a look and get back to you with a quote. It wasn't long before he sent me the info. I called the next day to approve and pay via credit card. When picking up the bulletins the following week in Columbus, I was positively impressed by Jeff and the good quality of my printed pieces. Jeff said he has modified alignment a little so my columns were centered. Thank you. I learned Metcalf Printing has been in business since the 1980s, started by Jeff's mom (hope I am remembering this right). I had a positive experience, and received a good print job. Probably not likely I will be back there again soon since I live in Iowa. Making funeral plans for my brother was hard enough, and this service by Metcalf Printing helped one detail less difficult.
