Well, we bought the house to use the fireplace, so we got everything done, from crown to flu repair. Cameron came on time as scheduled, and not only got everything repaired, but it was finished faster than estimated. They even repointed our bricks as an extra. Cost was what we expected, so while we'd love the work for free, who wouldn't, this was worth it for a safe winter season. Will be calling them for annual cleans, and when we get around to putting in a wood stove.

The technicians who visited my home were professional, knowledgeable, and spent approximately 30 minutes taking measurements and inspecting the chimney cap. However, they left only a handwritten sheet with basic dimensions and no clear documentation of costs or next steps. The invoice was sent two days later from an unfamiliar email address that did not identify the company or the technicians, which added to the confusion. Finally, the companies accounting department reached out, leaving multiple voicemails to address payment due. When I called to address the charge, I expressed my concerns about the lack of upfront communication. The accounting representative was polite and apologetic, and I do believe the company values customer service, however, there was a clear shortfall in transparency regarding pricing. Given the unexpected inspection fee, as well as the high estimates for additional work and concerns about communication, I have decided to pursue services with a company that places a stronger emphasis on clear and upfront pricing.

Wooden Sun cleaned electrical junction switches, including wall switch and told me the fireplace was igniting consistently. Was told that further problems might indicate a failing valve...whatever that is. Wooden Sun told me the den fireplace was not generating sufficient millivoltage to light the burner. They cleaned this one too, but said the mill voltage was still low and would recommend replacing the pilot assembly as first step and to replace valve as suggested for living room fireplace. I agreed to replacing pilot light assemblies for both fireplaces. But was told they didn't have parts with them in their truck and would have to return. The service call fee was $165 and Wooden Sun advised me that second service call to bring parts they didn't have with them would be an additional $165 service call fee. I objected to paying for two service fees. I was to that pilot light assembly cost would be $400 each plus service fee of $165 plus labor. The afternoon of their service call both fireplaces stopped working and would not ignite after repeated attempts. I called Tiger Fuel after Wooden Sun would not return to correct their failure to perform and service for my two fireplaces. Tiger fuel replaced pilot light assemblies in both fireplaces for under $200 each, and the fireplaces have ignited consistently since without issue. I would not recommend Wooden Sun as a service repair for gas fireplaces.

I read lots of reviews and research things to death before I make a decision so I don't give people a high rating just to be "nice". I also consider myself to be be a little hard to please because I'm used to doing a lot of work on my home myself and I have a high standard of quality while being thrifty. That being said, I shopped around a few quotes and came back to FlooringRVA. Long story short...I felt the price I paid for what I wanted was spot on. I had a good experience with the two man crew that came to install the carpet and padding. And 6 months later things are still meeting my expectations. Robert, the owner, was the real reason behind going with FlooringRVA a second time. He personally came to measure and offer suggestions. I preferred to text and Robert made himself available at all times throughout the day when I had questions. I didn't always expect an immediate response but one was always received. I could tell he and his staff were committed to my being satisfied throughout every step in the process and I couldn't find that level of customer focus with any other competitor. Floor Store returned to adjust carpet at the bath threshold where slanted floors left things looking odd. No excuses, no delays, no extra charges. Just a job well-done. 2) Custom area rug -- Love the sisal-look rug which fits my 13'x13' "everything" room perfectly. Got the high end look and high traffic durability I wanted for a great price. Love this indoor/outdoor rug. 3) Shower and floor tile for Richmond patio home -- Project is (still) in progress. When I described our system to him, he recommended that I call a repair person to see if it was repairable for about 1/5 the cost of a new system. Although we haven't determined it our old system is repairable or not, I want to point out that Terry was not at all the typical high-pressure salesman and suggested what could be a substantial savings. Just thought I'd share our positive experience.

I had a backsplash done and less than a year later the grout started peeling away where the wall meets the countertop. I called to find out what the grout color was. Nobody returned my call. I went up to the store and they could not tell me from my file and said they would find out and call me back but they didn't. I left a message for the salesman that I originally worked with and it's been months and he still has not returned my call.
