Epping's never disappoints. We were able to reserve 2 seats at the bar this evening at 5. I had the $5 Old Fashioned and my wife had the house Chardonnay. We split the Chicken Satay and a Frisco Melt Smashburger with Tallow Fries. Both were great. All the Bartenders provided excellent service this evening. It was relatively quiet when we arrived. By the time we left it was starting to fill up. I brought him a piece of the Raspberry Ripple Cheesecake, which was delicious. read more

Garbage. Bougie, presumptuous, arrogant garbage. Start with the good: the Old Fashioned I got was wonderful. Then the bad: I ordered French toast, it was slimy and mushy and gross. I also ordered two over medium eggs, and confirmed with the server what 'over medium' meant in Kentucky, and proceeded. The eggs were runny AF, uncooked white, gross. I sent them back only to receive crispier (cooked hotter) eggs that were just as runny. This place is nice, pretty, and great if all you care about is the presentation, and you like to have your ego polished. Food is garbage. Can't cook an egg? How can you trust them to cook Beef Wellington or Lobster Thermidore if they can't cook a fukn egg and some French toast. Really annoying because I'm not from here and I was really looking forward to a nice brunch. This whole trip has been fuked. Rain. Hotel parking nightmares. Edit to the review: Ok, maybe I was a little harsh there. I do appreciate the apologies, but not being able to or caring to temp an egg, I don't know. We walked into this establishment tired and starving when other places had multi hour waits that we couldn't manage with an infant. They sat us right away and were very accommodating to the baby. Our waiter was a nice guy who tried hard to make everything right. I got a generous pour on an $11 glass of Albariño, light and crisp. The watermelon salad, while not the most original of ideas with feta, mint and lime juice, was wonderfully executed with perfectly fresh watermelon and mint. Chicken parm was outstanding. Chicken was tender and crusted in parm. Setting it atop crispy polenta was a genius idea and topping it with spinach was a huge bonus to get extra veggies in. My preference would have been to have a little less dressing on the spinach but that is a personal choice. They had a nice bar area with TVs, and plenty of seating spread out throughout the large airy space. read more

My go to restaurant in Lexington. A great restaurant that is appropriately priced and that would be true whether it was in LA or Paris or wherever. The menu is always changing but the gnocci, carrots, fried pickles, brussels, burnt ends are staples that always hit. I've eaten here alot- brunch lunch dinner and happy hour and I have never been disappointed a single time. I've never felt like it wasn't worth the money. If you want to do a shared plate party thing its perfect for that, if you want some fine dining courses they can do that too. Truly the pinnacle of Lexington eating. read more

Ordered ny strip Tataki, beef tallow fries, brussel sprouts, cockertme kebabi, vegetable spring rolls, gnocchi and fried mushrooms (special). My top three favorites this time were the gnocchi, veggie spring rolls and the mushrooms. I'm a big fan of rosemary so the gnocchi was a hit for me. The spring rolls were pretty good size and could tell used fresh/clean ingredients. Mushrooms were also good size and perfectly fried and lightly battered. I didn't like the sauce with the brussel sprouts although I can see why others would. For me the flavor clashed with the sprouts and gave off a tang I didn't like. I prefer fries that are not as fried but the tomatillo ketchup makes up for that and is a super tasty and addictive sauce. Also, the strip Tataki was one of my favorites from before but the steak seemed slightly overcooked and not as juicy nor flavorful as before. My biggest complaint is they took away the lamb kebab from their menu (was my favorite before) and have a beef and lamb kebabi that is good but it's nowhere close to as good as previous lamb was. 4/12/25 My husband and I came here for our date night We shared crab bisque, pork belly burnt ends, a house salad with bleu cheese, chicken satay, and French fries fried in beef tallow (yes, they were as good as they sound and so thankful for no seed oil options) The food was fantastic, I do wish the bleu cheese dressing was a bit more bleu cheesy but other than that everything was great. The ambiance here is so mini jungle-like with all the various plants. I love the large space and the service was quick. The bathroom design was unique too, had to share that it is their family bathroom and the design for smaller children is too cute. Revisited Eppings for happy hour with a friend after my last experience a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised. We got the around 4 :30 on a Thursday and were sat immediately. Our server Nigel was phenomenal and the food was better than I remember. The blue crab bisque is my favorite thing. You MUST order it! The small plates we ordered to share were: the rosemary focaccia, vegetable spring rolls, chicken satay, arugula and beet salad that was on special. Everything was tasty although some things did take a while to get to our table. There was some confusion with the desserts (I ordered a butterscotch bourdine that was on special but received a apple cake) so I won't review them but overall a lovely experience. Everything we had here was amazing. I got a passion fruit drink and it was soooo delicious. We got a mixture of a bunch of stuff like the chicken satay, rosemary focaccia, spicy cucumbers, pork belly, gnocchi, crab cakes, the yuzu mousse, and strawberry crème brûlée. Went to Epping's for a birthday brunch. Overall we had a great experience. I had the Eggs Benedict which was delicious but a little bit small. Two friends had the breakfast platter which was good. One had the breakfast burrito which ended up being just ok. Edit for more detail.. she ordered the burrito without onions and it came to the table with lots of onions. The server took it back and they remade it but this time it had basically just eggs and cheese on top of fries, more like a bowl. She wasn't upset, just wasn't what she thought she was getting. We enjoyed everything else very much! We all did the bottomless Bellinis which were very good! Our server was very sweet and never made us feel rushed. What a great ending to my visit to Lex! This is an amazing spot- elegant yet humble and a perfect nod to all the great finds in the bluegrass state! We came for a work dinner; and I can confidently say everyone had a great time. The cocktail list definitely got us started on the right note, and I LOVED their paper plane- the perfect hybrid of dark&bitter. For a veggie, you'll have more options than I would have expected. Harissa heirloom carrots were fresh and tasty. But the fungus among us was my favorite: mushroom risotto with a side of extra mushrooms. Michael on service took great care of us, and be sure to ask him about his farm just outside of town. The yuzu vanilla custard was truly LIFE ALTERING! A beautiful restaurant and a great place for brunch. It looks like a huge sun room, with white walls and huge windows, tables and booths with comfortable cushioned chairs. The staff was friendly from our host to our waiter and service was extremely quick though they didn't rush us while getting our orders and let us sit there and enjoy the company of the people we met after we were done eating. The food was good for most, my non breakfast entree, the Frisco Melt smash burger was quite bland and dry. The side of grits, I dare say was more flavorful, should have gone with shrimp and grits. The others at the table got the burrito, chicken and waffles, and the Turkey club. They seem to have enjoyed their selections. Epping's is a solid choice for brunch while you're in Lexington, though I'd stick with breakfast entrees. Or just have coffee and enjoy the beautiful morning in their sun room. read more

We went to Epping's for our engagement dinner while we were on vacation and despite this restaurant having great reviews I was a little disappointed. I have to give at least 3 stars because my food was really good and the drinks were nice too, but our food took an hour and 50 minutes to come and the waitress seemed visibly annoyed at our table? We are very polite as all former food service workers ourselves so we just assumed it was very busy. First time trying Epping's on Eastside and I was so happy with my experience. The layout is lovely. Lots of natural light and the tables are spaced nicely creating plenty of privacy for conversation. I went for a birthday brunch and was able to split two dishes between myself and a friend. We wanted savory and sweet. I ordered the Tiramisu waffles and she got the breakfast burritos. We had an excellent first time at Epping's for an anniversary dinner. The staff were friendly and accommodated food allergies with care. The restaurant was spacious, quiet, and clean. We started with the Eastsider and Natini for drinks. Eastsider was tasty and Natini had strong coffee. For small plates, we ordered the pork belly burnt ends. Our sever recommended the crispy Brussels sprouts and heirloom carrots, so we ordered those too. We thought the Brussels and pork belly were done very well. The carrots were good but not remarkable. For large plates, we both ordered the skirt steak. It was cooked to temperature and enjoyed their take on the dish. Worth noting menu online didn't correspond to the menu in person. My wife and I went there tonight for the first time and it was AMAZING. Nigel our waiter went above and beyond. We had the steak bruschetta which was super delicious, the skirt steak which had an amazing flavor & the chicken parmesan which was the best one I've ever had. We wrapped up our meal with the caramel apple cheesecake which was delicious and the yuzu custard which might have been the best dessert I've ever had. We will definitely be back 5 stars read more

OMG!! I went there prior to COVID and it was good, but post COVID it's crave-worthy style food. I'm a big fan of the small plate concept and so glad to see Lexington have a good one with variety. Also know that they have a wonderful bar happy hour, half price the bar menu, wine, $5 old fashions. The mini sliders are part of that mini and probably the eBay sliders I've had anywhere! The pork chop was dry aged, full of flavor, juice, and crispy all at the same time! The gnocchi oooh to die for! And the tataki was super flavorful and perfectly seared! I go to Eppings often. We have always had a great experience. Sam was my most recent server on Sunday and we had great service. It was very busy and there appeared to only be 2 servers in the whole place. All the other staff were pitching in and helping out to make sure everyone was happy. Our 1st & last visit. Service was terrible. Our server, Michael, was either overly busy or simply didn't want our business. We ordered & received a 6 oz steak, a small bowl of crab bisque soup and two crab cakes. No salt, no pepper, no dinner roles/bread and one, ONE small glass of water for each of us that was never refilled the whole time we were there. Bill for the above was $73. We did eventually get some bread after asking another server. When I asked the server to cook my steak a little longer, he cut me off and stated the entree I ordered only comes rare. I replied that I was aware of that, and he cut me off again before I could finish my request. I've dined in many of the worlds finest eateries through several dozen countries. I've NEVER had a waiter cut me off and 'school' me on the finer methods of preparing meat. I could go on, but it was good to get the above off of my mind & think I'm done. But its wrong to just recognize the bad in things so I'll go ahead and compliment the taste of the food which was average to above average. read more

Went to Eppings for Happy Hour! Note, Google says that they open at 5pm, but the bar was definitely open at 4pm. Happy Hour is from 4-6pm and features a half off bar menu that has some pretty amazing options for everyone! The chicken wings were not on the menu and were pretty good, but I have to call out their homemade ranch and blue cheese dressings as the star of the show - next time, I will totally go to town with a plate of carrots and celery and skip the wings. Also during happy hour: $5 Old Fashioneds (which were delicious) and a $5 Elderflower Gin Tonic (very refreshing). Wine by the glass is also half off and I enjoyed their selection. As a bonus, I tried the Blood Orange Cosmo after reading another review - it was not on the Happy Hour Menu but I absolutely loved it (and may have had two... let's just say I went home very happy after this happy hour... ). Calling out to both the bartenders on the south side of the bar - they were kicking it all night! First time at Epping's was for my farewell brunch with friends before moving out of state. It did not disappoint. From the ease of reserving a table over the phone, to the immaculate service, everything was perfect. I arrived right on time for my reservation and was happily greeted by the young lady in the front of the restaurant. She checked to see if our table was ready and quickly took us back. Our table for 9 was ready for us. We started with a carafe of Bellinis. The shareable bottomless serving is the way to go. You can get it with up to four glasses to share. We did that and we all had multiple drinks from the carafe. After we finished that, we went with with the traditional mimosa. Just about everyone at the table got either the brunch burger or the hot chicken biscuit. Everything was wonderful. All the food was served fresh & hot and tasted wonderful. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was so attentive and friendly. We couldn't have asked for better service. I'm sad that I won't be in town to enjoy this restaurant more.
