The service was great! Our waitress was amazing! The ambiance is great but the food was nothing amazing. The Alabama White Sauce was really good coming from a Bama Girl!

Oooof. My group and I originally came to eat next door at Beau's Cafe, but after seeing a 45 minute wait we decided to come next door. Now we understand why no one was here and everyone was next door. There was no wait at J. renders and we were one of the first and only tables inside. There were seven of us and one child. The waitress was friendly enough, but struggled to meet our basic needs. I ordered an ice water multiple times and never recieved it. Another in our party ordered an espresso that took 15-20 minutes to arrive as we watched it sit on the counter for -9 minutes waiting to be delivered. The food took over 40 minutes to be delivered. I ordered the Benedict which was sat at the table completely cold. Not even slightly warm. I had others at my table try it to confirm and we all agreed it was worth telling the staff about. After pointing it out to the waitress I did ask for it to be taken off the bill but told her we didn't have time for a new one to be delivered. She didn't take it off, but instead discounted it 20 percent. The "poached egg" was a hard boiled egg on top of the Benedict that was also cold. (See photo) The brisket was dry. Everyone was very underwhelmed with their food, the wait, and the service. I could say many more things about the food, but you get it by now. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

First red flag was the lack of that smoky aroma in the air when you're truly smoking food on site. The restaurant was clean. Our waitress was pretty absent and inattentive. All of our food was served room temperature and severely lacked seasoning. The pulled chicken was juicy but the cornbread was so dry that it was inedible. The cornbread was cold and tasted like it had been made a day or so ago and kept in the fridge. The brisket was also very dry. The beans were probably some of the better ones we've had but none of the food tasted fresh. The mac and cheese noodles were way over done. As I said, none of the food was served hot, the cornbread was actually cold, so there is no way that it was freshly made. We do not recommend this restaurant.

Delicious meal and good vibes here! We were sat quickly and our server was wonderful, she gave us recommendations on meats and sides and was quick to keep our drinks topped. All of us enjoyed our meals and the prices were great for southern food. The pulled pork and smoked sausage were my favorites!

One of the art pieces. The rustic style of the photo matches the rustic vibe of the restaurant.

We deem this place to be a 4.5- restaurant. We would go back to this restaurant if in the neighborhood. We were not impressed to the point of posting on social media or making plans to return soon with friends. Food was good--as expected Server Livvy was exceptional Ambiance was as expected considering it is a grill & bar establishment. Nice part of he city near the airport. We sat inside on a Friday night (6:00-7:00). Outside looked pleasant but we saw speakers being set up for live music and opted for inside. This seems like a place that might get louder and more crowded as it gets later.

J Render's has some Good BBQ. It started with some spotty service, saved by the manager. I was a party of 1 looking to celebrate some certifications I had just completed and I was told the wait was over an hour. I was really surprised by that. There was seating at the bar but there was a large party waiting for their private room. While I waited for the bar to clear out the manager came over to clear the overwhelmed host area, found out I was a party of 1 and sat me immediately. My server was awesome, checked on me multiple times. I got a combo that came with an app bacon cheese fries, 2 meats pulled pork and brisket, 2 sides mac n cheese, baked beans and corn bread. Dessert was banana pudding not pictured because it was a snack for the hotel later. I also had 2 Lost coast tangerine wheat beers one of my favorites. I really liked J's wasn't my favorite BBQ spot in KY and was the most expensive but it's solid and I'll gladly eat there again with a reservation.

    Wood chip chicken so dry.

Would have been find if we hardly got to see our server. When we did we just said the with that and left.

I know it's a barbecue place but have to talk about the collard greens first. They were so good. Probably the best I've ever eaten. Very flavorful. I ordered the brisket sandwich no bun. The meat was tender and very flavorful. Great piece of meat. Hubby ordered the ribs and really enjoyed them. I would recommend this place to anyone. We sat in the bar and our bartender/waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and had a great personality.

Trying out a new bbq spot in Lexington. We ordered the BBQ platter and banana pudding. Our sides were collard greens and baked beans. We called in the order and a very nice lady took our order. Upon arrival our food was ready and everything was bagged for us. There was a really nice and big patio seating area. Also there was a separate area where they can host events. We had brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork and sausage. Everything was cooked and seasoned very well. The banana pudding was phenomenal.

    Awesome side salad!

Food came out real quick and has great flavours at a great price point and I enjoy that you can do half size so you can try more than one. I ordered the crawfish etoufee. So many different hot sauce flavours to try and get them in a little sauce container the bread oh my God I could devour that so good the whole meal. Honestly, the flavours were delicious. Except for one couple who were finishing their meal, we were the only ones there. Regardless we had fantastic service and tasty food with the gorgeous downtown views available from the huge windows. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which was HUGE, juicy and crispy. The fries were delicious, a very generous portion and very well seasoned. Since we were celebrating we ordered 2 desserts: the olive oil cake and the 10th birthday celebration cake. The celebration cake was a bit dry, but the olive oil cake was fantastic with a lovely combo of strawberries and pistachio cream. A really amazing cake I wish I could have more. Bye Lockbox! The vibes and the ambiance is cool and modern, with art adorning the walls (it is inside the 21C art hotel after all). Tables are well spaced out and benches are comfortable. Open and full of light, this is a great space. Service was attentive and helpful. I started out with the sausage balls, made with creole hot honey mustard, dill, and chili. The texture was really hard and while the sauce was tasty, the sausage ball itself seemed to lack flavor. Next time I will probably try to pimento cheese, which the server said was supposed to be very good (he couldn't speak personally because he's not a pimento fan). For my entree I had the pork belly. And I think I am the problem here, not the dish. It's fatty and rich, as pork belly is supposed to be, but it felt so very greasy to me. I ate very little of this, and this is where my fifth star falls off. I should have gone with the burger or berry beef culotte. I also had a side of fries, which as others have noted, are crisp and well seasoned. They were delicious. They have a nice little cocktail list. I had the hattori hanzo, mad with haku vodka, smoked paprika, pineapple shrub, and pineapple juice. I love pineapple, so I loved this drink that was heavy on the fruity flavor. I also had the temper tantrum, made with gin, grapefruit, lime juice, and thyme. A little sweet, a little bitter, which was perfect for this gin lover. It might have been my favorite. And the Scarlet Manhattan, made with old forester rye, scarlet apertivo, angostura, and orange bitters, it was the perfect smoky end to the night. Looking forward to coming back and adding that fifth star.

While they're not on the menu all the time, along with some other specials he sprinkles in every so often,I felt lucky to try them and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT.The greens were fully dressed with onion and tomato just like my aunt used to make and I'm telling you the oxtails tasted like he had an army of country Baptist grannies in the back (he did not). The hot water cornbread reminded me of my moms and the gravy for the oxtails could've been a side all by itself,no joke. I've only eaten like this at the home of an elderly relative,NEVER at a restaurant. It's a fact that not everyone can cook oxtails like this and I can't wait to go back there because those salmon croquettes are in trouble. If you wanna eat and I mean REALLY EAT...you need to get in there as soon as you can. This man,his wife and the staff know exactly what they're doing and they're doing it the right way.
