This place came highly recommended by some Yelp friends and I do karaoke at a nearby brewery on Thursday nights, so I popped in right before closing one night just to check it out and because I was starving. Wow! What a pleasant surprise! Seriously, the food was just beyond anything I expected! So tasty, flavorful, and filling! Big portion size, as well. It was as empty as my video below, but I decided to try again. I'm happy I did. I saw someone there and decided to go in. I cannot see pabellón on a menu and not order it so I did. I ordered it to go, made when ordered so super fresh, it was perfectly wrapped which was great, my pic not so much lol but it was definitely yummy. We finally visited Milly's Empanada Factory. The empanadas are really really good. They are made with corn dough and stuffed with anything you can imagine. I ordered two empanadas, a chicken and spicy chicken, plus a chicken pastelito. I was really hungry! The empanadas were very hot, I burned my tongue. So, be careful. My husband ordered a shredded beef empanada. We also ordered some fries. The empanadas are generous and full of flavor. Everything was Delicious. The place is small, clean and cute. Per the recommendation of one of my best friend's, we drove on over to Milly's to get some empanadas. Let me tell you... If Milly's was closer, I'd be a regular customer and 20 pounds heavier. My friend ordered a Patacon and a pastelito. I tried both and both were great. The Patacon is a sandwich that uses tostones in leu of buns, and it's stuffed with a lot of goodies (see pic haha); it's definitely messy so get yourself a napkin. The pastelito isn't a pastry but was filled with cheese. I ordered a beef empanada and a tequeño. The tequeños.... best tequeño I've ever had. Apparently Milly's is a made-to-order kind of place and that is honestly music to a foodie's ear, and I've actually never had a more fresh tequeño or empanada in my life. You can get a variety of different fillings for pretty much all of their items, and all of our food was fried to a perfect golden brown and had that beautiful crunch. The first thing is that customer service is amazing, every person is very welcoming and kind, hey offered me a little shot of colada which so appreciated at 8am lol! Food is breakfast Venezuelan, this is a place to forget about your diet, full of empanadas, pasteleros and arepas and others. I tried the breakfast arepa which was great, it comes with egg, bacon and cheese. The pabellon empanada was absolutely amazing and their coffee is super good! I happen to love a good empanada so when I read about Milly's Empanadas & I went back to my old West Kendall hood to try'em out..! Service - can't say it was friendly; but can say, it was indifferent. Lady took my order. When I asked for a receipt, she told me, "oooh, this will be difficult". Place - the pics taken of this place are very deceiving 'cause it's a very tiny place & I couldn't understand its unflattering all-aluminum decor. Waiting for our food, 3 people came in & the place was packed..! My daughter & I decided to take our food to go. Glad we did because my daughter noticed ants crawling all over the different areas of the place due to improper cleanup of food off the floor. Thankfully, our food came out rather rapidly. Food - once we got our food, we checked to make sure we had everything & given the ant situation, we checked for that too. Order was missing my daughter's empanada. Just as I was going to ask the lady, she said, "I forgot your empanada". It took 10mins. to get it & she added a tequeño for the mixup. Ordered - *Tequeño (plus 1/free - $1.35) - big & cheesy & nothing we can't buy at the mall & having it taste better. *Chicken Empanada ($2.95) - not your traditional empanada but the Venezuelan version. Very thick in breading, very little chicken which was unsavory & hard to bite into. We ate 1/4 & threw away the rest...not worth the chew... *Beef Patacón ($8) - Patacón was not crispy & it didn't seem or tasted fresh. Seemed like they gave us the ends of the patacón which are usually the driest tasting. Beef - shredded & good flavor & mixed with the other ingredients, it was edible but not delicious. It's late at night and I'm watching reruns of Diners drive ins and dives and I see this place come up on. I moved to Miami 8 years ago and I became an empanada aficionado. This place has the BEST empanadas I have had in Miami. It is a little ways out in Kendall but well worth the journey. We got cheese, ground beef, beef and spicy chicken empanadas. All of them were absolutely amazing and you could tell were fresh made right out of the fryer. Only thing I will say is that since they make everything fresh there will be a small wait time (about 15 minutes) but totally worth it. My suggestion would be ordering in advance for pick up. Also, their dining area is closed due to Covid but they have a small table out front with a few seats. I leave near coral gables and will 100% be coming back here for the empanadas. Talk about a satisfying, filling, delicious breakfast! I also got a guava and cheese tequeno, and it was one of the best i have ever had! Picked up a catering order for work. It was good but upon trying both, no one could tell the difference between the vegan and the veggie mini empanadas, like I think we just got double vegan order? Also made a point to order the gluten free empanadas and it seemed to be the same corn-based dough but just full size? So as long as the GF guests avoided the tequenos that had a wheat dough, they were ok??? So, I discover this restaurant from Guy Fieri on his show and wanted to give this recommendation a try. I decided to try the Pabe-Yoyo and 4 empanadas (beef, ham & cheese, and spinach & cheese. I thought the Pabe-Yoyo was great with many different layers of flavors, but the whole entrée being fried made it SUPER heavy. I enjoyed the flavor of the shredded beef, and the plantains were AMAZING! Overall it was good, but super heavy and greasy. The empanadas in my opinion was good, but not great. I give them a 3/5 stars for the ham & cheese empanada. Overall, not bad for the empanadas, but not the best ones I have had. Maybe the other 2 flavors are better than the ham & cheese. If you want fresh deep fried empanadas that have delicious flavor and great fillings this is the place to go. Located in the middle of Kendale lakes area it is in the middle of a neighborhood shopping plaza. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot (even though its small). The actual place is small probably the size of a small cafeteria. Its pretty much what it reminds me of. Each time I have walked in the same woman has been working the front. She normally comes out from the back and asks if she can take your order. The menu actually has a lot of options. I got one of each empanada to try including the breakfast empanada this time. WOW. Lets start with the breakfast empanada. Easily shared with a guest it is pretty massive. It is an empanada stuffed with cheese, scrambled eggs and bacon. My favorite empanada is of course the cheese one. It is so good. I love cheese. Especially cheese covered in bread and fried. Their chicken empanada is also delicious. The meat is tender and flavorful. Prices aren't too bad at $3 an empanada. I will definitely return to get a few more and share :) I recommend all to come here and try it at least once. At Milly's, you can sink your teeth into their soft pastry shell to discover a flavorful filling. Me and one other person decided to make a stop here after seeing the reviews and coming back from the Keys. We were so tired and grabbing some empanadas was perfect. We ordered four different empanadas and one Pastelito. We wanted more but their vegetarian (spinach and cheese) were out. The girl at the register told us it would be a 10 minute wait for the food. Once it was out we took it to our hotel to eat. We got their beef, chicken, and cheese empanadas. My favorite was their beef one. The fresh ingredients and bountiful variety of flavors was perfect. We both also really enjoyed the Pastelito. It's basically like the empanada but round. Their preparation method is a little different than the empanada. The crust for both the pastelito and empanadas are so good. It's crispy on the outside and oh so buttery soft inside. The ratio of meat to crust is also perfect. I recommend everything here. The pricing is good. It's about $2.95 an item. The portions are pretty large compared to empanadas at other places. They also have sandwiches and hotdogs. I want to come back and try their breakfast empanadas. The inside of this place is very small. There is only about 5 booth seating. It's mostly and a grab and go type of place but so worth it. The chicken empanada was freaking amazing! I'm not sure what kind of holy dough they use to make the empanadas, but lord have mercy! It was not like any empanada I have ever had before. The drive even though Waze said 15 minutes seemed longer but after the first bite we soon forgot about the drive.
