I love a good Milo's experience! On my recent visit to this particular location, it was quite busy! I made the mistake of going during prime lunch hours. I am certain that most locations have set ordering inside take out hours and then of course the drive thru is available. I utilized the drive thru and I was hoping it didn't take long as I was about 8th in line. For the most part the drive thru moved fairly quickly. I was so hungry so mentally , it felt like a lifetime to place my order! My food was hot and delicious! My only issue was one of my drink orders were incorrect. I requested Coke Zero but was instead given Diet Coke. This happened even after I corrected them twice during the ordering process! Oh well .... Overall, solid food and service experience. Milo's seems to consistently deliver in these area. The sweet tea was excellent!!!! read more

That is what has happened at this location. We ordered an eight piece, chicken nuggets and a hamburger and two apple pies. Everything was precooked. Ate lunch inside and did not see them cook a single thing. Everything was pre cooked, packaged wrapped and sent out the door on being ordered. Nothing fresh. While my food order was correct and delicious, I watched the same guy come in from the drive-thru multiple times to have his wife's food remade. The eldest lady working remained calm and apologetic, reviewed the order several times before having it remade. In terms of service I thought that was stellar. The cleanliness was alright. I had to clean off my tabletop to the booth I chose after sitting down. Some locations are great about sticking with the one-and-a-half patties or two-and-a-half patties for their burger or double hamburger (or with cheese) entrees, but this location didn't. I've found the location in Birmingham off of Lakeshore does the extra half patty though! It's always best when the sauce is dripping from the burger, that messy goodness doesn't go unused when you swipe a fry or two to scoop it up from the burger wrapping. This meal is not for the faint or heart. You're expected to drip Milo's sauce, have it on your fingers, and already plan your next visit before the meal is over. read more

I have bought their sweet tea for years and when we were looking for a quick bite on our way home from Florida, this seemed like a great little stop to fill up our tummies and our gas tank. The Manager was up front and helpful! We identified ourselves and newbies and he offered us a taste of sauce and fries. I will say the burgers were tasty and fresh and fries were hot and crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The sweet tea is awesome! We went with ok expectations. Now these expectations were met with the delicious fries, and great selection of sauces. However, the burgers are not recommended, and are usually drenched in barbecue sauce, with a very thin patty. The burgers also contain lots of onions, and 1 pickle, if you're even expecting one at all. Service is good, considering it's just average fast food service. The look, and cleanliness of the restaurant is alright. Might be a little crowded, but other than that, you should have a good time, and definitely give their drinks and sauces a try! I wanted a cheeseburger but wanted what I considered the regular with mayo, mustard, kethcup, onions, tomato, lettuce, and pickles. I also wanted a peach pie. Milo's has what they consider a burger the other way and peach pie. I decided to go in and the cashier spoke and was polite. I made sure that this thick style burger was only one patty. I was ready to order and when I looked at the price of the combo, I decided sandwhich only. I asked about the price of the pie and I quickly said out loud, this place is expensive!!! I haven't eaten at a Milo's in a while and it may be an extended amount of time before I return but I did enjoy my buger. I didn't want anything with a special sauce and their thick style burger hit the spot as it was well seasoned. Not really a fan of fast food, there are a few places that I do enjoy going from time to time. When I first moved here, there was a Milo's (this location) and a Chick-fil-A close together and very close to where I was staying. We had Chick-fil-A in So Cal, so that was an easy one to pick and go to. But after several days of the same thing it was time to try something new, enter Milo's Hamburgers. Fast forward several years and this is one of my favorite fast food burger joints around. This location still is as good as the first time I tried it. The burgers aren't anything fancy. Bun, burger (and a 1/2), grilled onions, cheese and the signature Milo's sauce. I typically hold any sauce (including mayo, mustard, catsup) ... I like to taste all the ingredients not the sauce. Well in this case, it compliments quite nicely. Also, pro tip, if you like the sauce get an extra on the side for dipping your fries. Next up and worthy of a stand alone paragraph, the sweet tea. Yep, they are the same Milo's that you find in Walmart, Sam's, Costco, etc. They have turned sweet tea into an addiction that isn't easy to beat. They set the bar for fast food sweet tea no doubt! Staff at the drive through are always friendly, I have to admit I've never gone inside this location (now that I think about it - I maybe haven't gone inside any Milo's locations), so this is based off of the drive through experience only. The menu board is simple, there isn't a lot to choose between, but they are able to move customers through the line quickly by focusing on fewer menu items. read more

We have been a fan of Milo's since they opened a store in Pelham, always a family favorite....until now. We had lunch at the Calera location today and I will say the company has lost our business. The cheeseburger was horrible! I can't exactly find the words to describe the "beef" patty. My first thought was the patties you would buy in a box at the grocery store. It tasted and looked squishy! Although we didn't see any red in the burger the coloring of the patty looked pale and very processed. I had two bites of my burger and I was done, completely done with Milo's. It makes me sad that the leaders of this company would lower their quality. I'm guessing Milo's profits have taken a nose dive and the company will not be around for the long haul if they don't make drastic changes soon. I say go back to what worked, a good food vendor, stick to serving burgers, fries, chicken and pies. I say get rid of the rest of the menu and the money you save on food cost should be put in quality BEEF! The area is exploding with new businesses and people have too many choices to choose this restaurant. I usually don't do reviews, but I want this company to succeed. I was craving a Milo's burger and told my grandsons we were going when they got in the car from school. The youngest was happy because he likes their tea and chicken tenders. The oldest....not so much. When I told him they now had chicken nuggets, he tried not to look pleased. (Both boys are on the Autism spectrum and have a very limited number of food items they will eat.) I didn't eat the nuggets but, I had to write this review because I was so impressed. Unlike Burger King and McDonald's, these WERE NOT chicken parts pressed together and pressed into a uniform shape. They were chunks of REAL white meat chicken. The oldest swallowed his pride and said they were really good. Thank you, Milo's for adding the nuggets to your menu! I can now get the burgers I love and everyone else is happy, too. Have always loved their sweet tea so seeing the pictures of their burgers in the window I had to try. The service was slow in the store due to 4 people helping in the drive-thru and only one lady doing everything up front. Burger was just a burger and hardly any flavor. But saddest part was the shake, ordered the strawberry because the picture of it on the menu looked great. The shake had so much syrup that it looked like I was drinking a bloody shake and had no flavor of strawberry to make me think there was anything good about it. Very disappointed over all. read more

I visited this location to get a kids meal. They have two prices listed; one with and without a beverage. I ordered the one without a beverage and when I got to the window, I was told they don't have a "button" to ring up the price that was listed. So I had to pay full price (over $8) for a kids meal! Even when speaking to the manager, she stated that she couldn't change the price. If you can't honor the price you have listed, take it off the menu. read more

This was our first visit to a Milo's. We have a friend who says Milo's is his all-time favorite restaurant, so we wanted to try it. I'd previously only had Milo's tea from a grocery store. My wife got a chicken Tender Snack, and I got a Cheese Burger with new Bacon Combo. I give the burger a four, and the fries four and a half. However, I'll rave about the chicken: Their new Tenders, and original Chicken Sauce were both excellent! Service is very fast. Milo's Hamburgers was Birmingham's original burger joint in 1946. I dare say their chicken is now better than Zaxby's across the street. This Milo's is just off I-65 at a US 31 exit in Calera. Southeast corner. I ordered the #1Combo for lunch. The fries and tea were great but the hamburger was terrible. The hamburger patty was not fully cooked. The meat was mostly red. There was almost no sauce on the burger. Because the meat was undercooked I had to toss the burger. By far the best chicken tenders I've ever had from Milo's to date. They were juicy and perfectly cooked. They were freshly cooked and piping hot. We ate inside enjoying our off day. I can't believe I've never written about a Milo's experience. I've been going to Milo's since I was in college when my wife (then girlfriend) introduced me to it. This experience is representative of most every other time I've been to a Milo's, which ever location I dined in. I remember the very first time I had Milo's. At the time, they sold burgers and fries. Since then, they have expanded the menu with chicken, breakfast, and more. Although they have changed, they haven't lost site at what made them successful from the beginning. Their burgers. I still remember when I was eating my very first burger, I noticed an extra piece of meat in my sandwich. I thought to myself, "man, how luck am I to get an extra piece of patty?" Little did I know, they make everyone feel special with what they call their LSE, or Little Something Extra. I still think about this every time I get their burgers. The signature burger comes with onions, pickles, and special sauce. Of course, you can order it without any of those items, but you can also ask for your onions to be grilled. That's the way my wife and kids like theirs. The sauce is great. I wish I had the recipe...but it's probably a good thing I don't as I would put it on everything I could. Their crinkle cut fries are also great. They don't skimp on season salt which makes them taste amazing. I dip mine in their Milo's sauce. They are also 'famous' for their sweet tea. If you haven't had it, then I don't think you are officially from Alabama. I've had their chicken and it's been good, but their burgers is what I come for. It's fast food, so don't think your getting something else. But as fast food burgers so, this one is on the top of my list. Great experience at this location. Wouldn't hesitate to come here again. Milo's is not what it used to be, even before COVID. They changed meat and it is nothing like it used to be. Low grade of beef it seems with grizzle or bone here and there. Every once in awhile you may bite into a hard and I do mean hard piece of something??? Staff is friendly and I grew up loving Milo's and was so happy to see one in Calera. I agree with the people that said the burgers are always cold or lukewarm. I have found that to be the case so many times. Cheese isn't melted, burger is barely warm.
