Found out yesterday that the Bessemer location will be closing and merging with the Birmingham Crossroads location, so we knew we had to make one last trip. This has been our go-to wing spot for a while. We ordered our usual: #16 Combo One-piece catfish and 6 wings We always request the catfish fried hard and get the Kickin Bourbon wings. We also always upgrade the fries to the Cajun ranch cheese fries and grab a J's Punch with the combo. The atmosphere itself is not really much to talk about, and the customer service has always been more average than standout. But the food? Banging. The Kickin Bourbon wings continue to be the star. Sweet heat with good flavor balance and enough sauce to matter without drowning the wings. The catfish fried hard gives that extra crunch without drying the fish out. The Cajun ranch cheese fries are part of the experience at this point. Salty, messy, loaded, and worth the upgrade every time. And the J's Punch has become one of those "you just automatically order it" drinks once you have been there enough. J Wings has always felt like one of those places where the food carries everything else. You are not necessarily coming for ambiance, elevated service, or aesthetics. You are coming because when that food hits, it hits. Sad to see the Bessemer location go, but hopefully the Crossroads location keeps the same quality and flavor consistency that made this spot our go-to in the first place. read more

My son wanted this stop, and I wanted him to have it. They had a limited menu during supper rush (5:30PM). No burgers and I was going in safe with a combo in my mind. They also had limited customers. The bathroom was atrocious--I wanted to wash my hands but quickly changed my mind. The dining area was cold on a winter afternoon, as though they were using the kitchen heat to suffice. When you go to Birmingham, you have to try a wing place. J Wings was suggested and it was a good place for wings. The service wasn't great, but the food was amazing. I actually found this through tik tok and their review was spot on. These were the best wings I've had in BAMA! I ordered a 10 piece with half Jamaican jerk and half Hot Honey Mustard wings with cheese fries on the side. The flavors were amazing! I'm surprised the line isn't lined up down the highway, but they could use some more customer service skills. Other than that if I'm driving through I'll grab some more for sure! read more

I've been to this location several times and have rarely been disappointed. The wings are great!

Wings were good. The only real complaint was they put 30 wings in one container could have used two. But that's not a big deal.

My search was over. I had been searching for the best wings throughout the 205 all through out college, little did I know, they'd be off an exit going to Bessemer, Alabama. My Fraternity Brothers had been hinting about J Wings for a while now, I thought since it was a Saturday, and I was heading to B-Ham for a party, I could stop here real quick & grab a bite to eat. You know they're used to plenty of customers because it was about four women working the cash register, taking orders from phone & from people waiting in line. I asked for a Hot Honey Lemon Pepper 6pc and Cajun ranch fries with a coke. The cup that they gave me for my coke was huge, I wouldn't need to be getting up for constant refills, which I appreciated greatly. After a couple of minutes (3-5), the kid that had handed me a coke, got my attention to come get my food. The aroma from the food smelled so pleasant, it was like my senses started doing cardio to get ready for the meal. First I took a bite out of the fries and they were so hot and drenched with their own ranch with Cajun seasoning sprinkled on it. It was extraordinary. I then proceeded to take try one of the flats. The sauce with lemon sprinkles stuck to my hand as I bite into the wing, it was like a rush of divine flavors pouring into my mouth, I've never tasted better wings. The food was good as always. The customer service needs a lot of work. The young lady that works the register is ALWAYS rude. This will probably be out last time eating here. I can see once or twice. This place is great. Stopped by after a long day at the water park just 5 min away. Got the 10 piece wings with side and a drink for 9.49 which is a great price! The dry lemon pepper was awesome! This is one of my kids favorite spots but I will not come during afternoon hours anymore. I'm assuming they allow high school kids to do Co-Op or something because no one looked over 18 today. I ordered a 6 piece combo & 2 cheeseburger combos. It basically took forever to get my order. A cook had to come out & hug a fellow classmate & focused on her meal & she came after me of course. I had to ask a couple of times how long it was going to be! I have never waited this long on a busy Friday or Saturday night. I really enjoy the wings, hamburgers, fish, philly steak sandwiches and cheese fries. I still have many items on the menu to try. The combos all include a drink. However I'm a diabetic and i can't have their fruit drinks (popular) nor sodas and I can't stand diet drinks. They say the cost of combos are reduced if you don't want the drink but they're not. So watch the price. The one item that I tried and disliked is their coleslaw. It's awful and taste just like the slaw from Walmart. Homemade mayonnaise based slaw is very easy to make. Incredible wings and amazing flavors. This location is right by UAB Medical West, and has some of the best wings that I've had in the area. Lemon pepper on point, which is always a baseline wing marker for me, and their lemonade is just the right amount of sweet. Prices are reasonable, and service is always fast and friendly. I often call in a to-go order, and it has always been ready for me for pick up before I get there. Staff is friendly, and the fish is good as well! If you get the chance you have to try J's wings. They are a small little wing spot in Bessemer and the have some great food. I always get their fried catfish. The portions are large, so if you don't eat a lot be mindful of the size you order. These guys are always professional and friendly. They do get busy during lunch but they have a drive thru and take call in orders. Also, try the punch and lemonade. They are both fire . The place isn't fancy at all, but they keep the building clean. read more

This was my first visit to their restaurant. My son recommended the wings there. I was so excited to try them out, my niece was in town visiting from Florida. We went into the restarting it was not very busy at all we were not greeted by the cashier. She was very rude and very unfriendly. Her tone of voice sounded like she was aggravated at my questions, but I had never been here before and did not know all of my options. Each question that I asked her she became more rude and condescending. She was not only rude and short with me but with every customer that came in except for some boys that she was actually smiling and conversing with.
