I took my 3 year old toddler grandson to this McDonalds today about 1 pm intending to let him play in the play area. I stopped at the drive through to order because I can never get anyone to take my order when I go inside and the kiosk often malfunctions. It was not busy at all and there was only 1 car in front of me. When the car in front of me moved forward I moved ahead to place my order. After 10 minutes of waiting with no response from any employee acknowledging me I drove to the cashier and was told they were having to remove orders that the previous customer ordered but then drove off before paying. I gave my order to the cashier and paid and then picked up my order. I then parked and with my McDonald's bag of food and drink walked to the entrance with my grandson. The door was locked but I could see employees walking around nearby inside. I (and my 3 year old grandson) knocked on the door in an attempt to ask why the door was locked. The employees looked at me but ignored me. I then went with my grandson to the food pick up window and asked why the door was locked. I was told they were short staffed and noone could come in. I asked couldn't my grandson come in to play in the play area and was told no. So, we went back to the car and ate in the car. I ordered a fish filet for me and French fries for my grandson. The fish filet was stale and tasteless. My grandson's french fries were the same. I took 3/4 of my fish filet and 3/4 of the fries home and gave it to my bird colony outside. I was telling my daughter later about it and she said many of the employees there are drug addicts or not reputable people. I don't know if there is any truth to that but today sure seemed like it was being run by employees that didn't give a flip about customers or the quality of food served. I came through this morning and ordered a egg mcmuffin with no meat and a large iced coffee 3 splenda, cream only, I received a muffin with a folded egg, and a med iced coffee, the lady at the window handed me a 24 oz cup and told me that was a large cup when I questioned her about it. We stopped here for drinks, and it was probably the worst decision we made! The drive they line was very long and not moving. When we finally got to the window to order, it took forever for them to ask what we wanted. When we got to the window to pay and pick up our order, they tried to give us another order, and then, they couldn't figure out the drink machine. Yep. They called about 4 people over, and drink machine was making random sounds. They finally got our drinks together (we tested before we drove off), and left. This location was awful. We waited over 40 minutes for our food. Our bag/order was half packed and sat for five minutes before they attempted to give it to us. The employees were rude and couldn't understand why we were unhappy with a 40 minute wait. read more

Bad customer service and what I'm guessing is the manager was calling me names and cussing after i quietly knocked on the bathroom door and moved it a little cause I couldn't tell if someone was occupying the bathroom or not. Ok, so I only wanted the three chocolate chip cookies. Pulled right up, not busy, and placed my order with the young lady at the first window. I proceeded to the second window and the 1st young man informed me that my cookies were in the oven. The second young man had me to pull up confirming the baking of fresh cookies. This review is based off of visits even LONG before COVID. This McDonald's has been one of the WORST I have ever been to. Orders constantly wrong, super slow service, highly inappropriate remarks and service from employees, food improperly cooked, etc. Again, this has been an ongoing problem long before COVID at this location. The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back was ordering a McRib through the app one day, getting to the drive-thru window only to be told they did not have the McRib. I was told they couldn't provide a refund (why can't they cancel the order?) and I would have to contact corporate. I contact corporate to be told the store should issue a refund and it's the store manager's duty to update the their system with what is available at their specific location. So I call corporate one more time after the store said they can't issue a refund to then be told I will have to file a dispute with my bank for the charge. That's a pretty bad business process on the store and corporate's part. I no longer will visit this location but I also limit my visits to other McDonald's locations because of that interaction. read more

I hate this place. The only reason I gave it a one star rating was because you can't give it a zero. The customer service here is non-existent. They ALWAYS get it wrong! I don't even live in Calera. My family does & I visit frequently from AZ. I even emailed the manager, Tremaine Walker and he never responded (please see photo attachments). In October, I purchased a 10pc nuggets meal & there was only 8 in the box. They constantly forget the sauce. If you order ice cream, they fail to fill it up, they give you cold food, the wrong order, they have horrible attitudes, the list goes on. Two weeks ago I witnessed staff leaving the store to watch a car accident down the street at the Dollar Tree. There is no teamwork here, they have poor time management skills & lack customer service skills. This place either needs to go out of business or hire an entire new management team & staff. I don't even go here enough to write a review, but the fact is that when I DO go it's always a miserable experience. This is the worst McDonalds I have ever been to and I have been to many all over the country. Could not get my wife's order right. We made an order on the app to take advantage of the coupon's. Order was pretty simple, they didn't know how to make a ice coffee, with sugar and cream. Instead it was vanilla coffee. Then when they gave her a second it was actually black without anything. Evidently, your crew is not trained experienced in this and had no idea how that app worked. Recommendation: TRAIN YOUR CREW. read more

Ordered through drive through. The person working drive through didn't repeat the order at the drive through or when we got to the window. She charged us for two items we didn't buy/order. When I asked for that part of the money back she said they weren't doing refunds. She only gave me my money back for the items I didn't order when I called the police. Ridiculous. This is well, the worst McDonald's in existence. It's on my way to work and sadly the only place open late. You always will be told to pull to the side when ordering. I have been here more than 20 times and I have never received anything but stale fries. I can only assume they pre-cook the fries then bucket them and reheat to order. I'd hate to think it's because they're not cleaning the fryer. Tonight was the final straw. The owly eyed meth head at the drive through had people pulling to the side because well, they're slow. She had 9 of us parked and waiting for food. It took 45 minutes for me to get my food and stale fries AGAIN. 2 days ago I was here and it took 30 minutes to get my food. I get that it's McDonald's and we shouldn't have high expectations, this is far below their standards. This fat boy loves McDonald's and this branch is going to stop me from going to them. I was so excited to try out the new deluxe chicken sandwich on my trip to this McDonald's yesterday. There were a bunch of kids working that evening and they were doing a lot of playing around so I kind of figured the food would not be good. My chicken sandwich was done only on one side. A full hand full of lettuce was just thrown in the box. The special sauce was all over the bun and inside the box. The bad end of a tomato was put on the sandwich and one small pickle also thrown on top. This was hard to take since it was going to be my first time trying the new chicken sandwich. Well that did it for me. I probably won't be back to this location no time soon. read more

I nromally go through the drive through here and this McDonalds normally gets my orders right, the line is normally short or has only a moderate wait and the staff are always nice. I biggest problem with most McDonalds is their flurries are garbage. It seems standard for McDonalds to skimp on the toppings in their flurries. However, I ordered one a few weeks ago that had a ton of M&M's in it. So many so that I called the restaurant to compliment whoever made it...I called three times, but no answer...o well lol. WARNING: Avoid this McDonald's (Calera) if at all possible if you like fast, friendly service. I pulled up to lane 2 and waited for a while before someone finally offered to take my order. Meanwhile, 2 cars who'd pulled up in lane 1 after my arrival, came & went before I was even acknowledged. I attempted to order chicken tenders since they were still listed on the menu, only to be rudely interrupted mid-sentence with the words "sorry, tenders are no longer a menu item". I ordered a Big Mac combo; sounds quick & easy right? WRONG! I paid for the meal & pulled up to the 2nd window, after paying at the 1st window, where I was almost immediately told to pull to the waiting spot & someone would bring out my order shortly. Several minutes passed & I could see the manager in my rear view as he exited the building & started chatting away with drive-thru customers who'd come after me. He was holding a bag, that he'd handed to them & received right back as I assumed was not theirs. He continually played with the bag, nervously folding & unfolding it, while talking with those customers for 2-3 minutes. Excuse me, let's forget how slow they are but we're still living in the midst of COVID-19 & you're being so blatantly unsanitary? I am done with them this time.
