The decision to move both our kids (4th and 6th grade at SPM) to a new school was not easy. However, the entire staff here was so welcoming and made our kids feel very comfortable since day 1. Special shout out to our teacher Ms Valayil who goes above and beyond for her students and genuinely care about their academics and well being. Also, Ms Pacheco (Spanish teacher) and Ms Shohana (after school teacher) who are so supportive and caring - and entire front office/leadership team at this campus who exceeded our expectations. As we wrap up the school year this week, our family agreed that we made the right decision to be at Stratford and look forward to continuing our education here. We have to supplement her with additional home work at home. However, she's getting a quality education without us having to pay 10-20k for a private school. The most important thing is parent involvement. Money alone can't give your kid a quality education. This school has steadily gone up in ranks, and since the switch to Common Core testing instead of API, this is now a 10 ranked school. This just shows that the API can be gamed by rote memorization. As a parent, I had to relearn some of the concepts with Common Core, but it makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure why other parents hate it. The most important thing about Common Core is that there is not one way of getting the answers right. I teach my kids the curriculum method but I also teach them the old methods as well. Knowing more than one way to solve a problem and understanding *why* and *how* are the keystones of Common Core.

Serving mainly the children in Starlite Manor and Milpitas Manor developments, it sits on a ten acre site near Starlite Park, the first neighborhood park in Milpitas. It is a K-6 school. All the kids in our family went here. Recently a lot has changed here with photo-voltaic panels over the parking area and lunch area. More portable classrooms are on the campus to house the over 600 students. The academic program is average for Milpitas. Their API scores are improving each year. Alas, there is little money to support music, drama, art, etc. This was the last of the district's elementary schools to approve wearing uniforms, so the nearby community probably has more independent thinkers than other schools may have. Spangler feeds to Thomas Russell Middle School.

I mean this whole covid thing is now just like a cold and we have learned to live with it. I feel that the school should go back to normal. Hopefully the district can get things back to normal.
