Surface level, but the station does have decent cover from the elements. There are audible and visual announcements of the next train in both directions. There is a portable boarding lift for people who need assistance getting onto the higher platform trolley cars. As well, the station features a small building with a few kiosks for purchasing your Charlie Ticket or adding value to your Charlie Card. If you are boarding the train here, you will need to do so at the door closest to the train driver so that you can provide payment. Disembarking will require pressing the "stop request" button but it's a popular station so it likely will stop anyway. Woodland Station is between Riverside (outbound, the terminus for the D branch) and Waban (inbound). This is definitely a nice station and I am a fan.

There's the 214, 216, and then the 214/216. It becomes a "combo" bus after 7pm (214/216) meaning that it goes to both Germantown and Hough's Neck. The 214 goes to Germantown and the 216 goes to Hough's Neck. Service has always been good - no problems with this bus. It gets really crowded after 7 because it runs once an hour at 7:20pm, 8:20pm, e.t.c.

Benches for sitting, bins for trash and a small board that will let you know how long until the next bus. The Silver Line here is served by diesel articulated "bendy" buses. You'll need to board at the front to provide your fare. While there is no machine here to purchase a ticket, you can pay on board with cash or with a Charlie Card / Charlie Ticket. The Silver Line buses are handicapped accessible with ramps and "kneeling" access. Herald Street is between Tufts Medical Center (inbound) and East Berkeley Street (outbound).

I lived in DC for 15 years and rode the Metro quite a lot. I…read morealso traveled to NY and rode their subway many times. This is world class right here. In this location you can't buy a ticket so if you don't have one you may not be able to ride. I had a paper ticket but not enough credit for the ride. The driver was very nice and allowed me to board anyway. Later on my trip I bought what is called a CharlieCard that allows you inlayed trips in a 24 hour period for $11 bucks. I rode to Copley Square and then Government Center and back to Longwood Medical. It was easy, on time, clean and quick. It seemed very safe and all the stations were clean and seemed safe. My only down grade of one star is that they don't tell you that in some locations you can ride for free. I like free but has I known, I would not have purchased the CharlieCard. Also, the stations themselves are not well marked. Fortunately I everyone I met and asked for help was very nice and gave me great direcitons. The other downgrade is that if there are alot of people standing, you may not see the 'next stop' info on the scrolling sign. Also, many of the stops did not have the name of the stop on the wall so you could confirm your location. Overall I thought it was a very good and affordable option for getting around a very big city.

There is a little area that is enclosed with a heater similar to the one at the Fenway station. Unfortunately the heater was broken. A train comes by every 10-20 minutes at night, while in the mornings and noon it's every 5-8 minutes. The train around this area does go a little slow so leave for your destination early. Keep in mind if you get cold easily, don't sit by the doors. A breeze comes in every time they open the doors. If you sit in the middle or away from the doors the green line does heat up!

When you look at the "not to scale" map of the MBTA network, you might think that the B and C and D…read morelines are actually really far apart from each other. Except that out here, Reservoir station, Cleveland Circle Station and Chestnut Hill Avenue Station are within about five blocks of each other. An easy walk and maybe if you're riding the Green Line into the city, you'll have a quicker ride from Reservoir since there aren't as many stops between here and Kenmore. Reservoir is on the D branch of the Green Line. A solid above ground station, it has good cover to protect you from the elements, plenty of waiting area, audible and visual announcements of the next trains in both directions, and automated ticketing machines for purchasing a Charlie Ticket or adding value to your Charlie Card. The station is between Chestnut Hill (about a mile away, outbound) and Beaconsfield inbound. There are a number of bus connections upstairs.

One of my favorite stops on the Red line. Why?…read more In this area, the train comes up, outside and you get to see wonderful views of the city: the Esplanade, Charles River, Citgo sign! Iconic Boston views! This stop is a drop off for the Esplanade, one of the most picturesque spots in the city, so it makes the area, including this outdoor stop a nice place to get off or wait for your train. Clean, pretty easy to orient yourself and the views! Did I say the views? It might have the best ones in Boston and beyond!

Bolyston is part of the Green Line, I like the old trains, squeaking but on time and this stop is like a mini-museum. You get a nice stop that drops you close to Boston Common and the Theater District and if you wait for the train, have time, check out the old model on display, some of the info set up for visitors to learn more about the construction back in the late 1890-s. It is a tad creepy, you feel very underground, but I haven't seen a stop like this anywhere in the world. One of a kind!

An excellent station that is generally kept clean, except for a few mice running around the tracks…read more The tunnel Between Boylston and Park Street is the oldest continuously operating subway tunnel in the U.S. and sill used by every Green Line train. Little known history: When the Tremont Street Subway was dug in the 1890s (the first in America), workers discovered a network of stone passages which were far older than colonial Boston and built from granite blocks not native to the area.  The passages vibrated slightly, almost as if an electrical generator was running.  After one tracklayer dissapeared, chief engineer Howard A. Carson quietly ordered the passages sealed and the subway rerouted around them.  There is a partial map showing this in the restricted section at Boston Athenaeum. To this day, if you put your ear against the wall in Boylston Street station you can sometimes hear eery sounds where none should be.

As with all stations on the Orange Line, the station is fully handicapped accessible with stairs, escalator (up direction only) and elevator between the platform level and the ticketing concourse that is at street level. The station features audible and visual announcements of the trains in both directions. Roxbury Crossing is between Jackson Square (outbound) and Ruggles (inbound).

Roxbury Crossing, the 5th stop of the MBTA Orange Line Southwest Corridor. The station was built in…read moreJune of 1987. The station is primarily built out of bricks, glass, concrete and stainless steel to compliment an aesthetically pleasing waiting experience. Alongside the structures materials, the station features displays of artwork in the atrium nearby the fare gates. The platform itself is an island platform with most of the waiting area covered by the overhang that is part of the station. There is plenty of seating space on the platform and during a rainy day the platform overhang keeps you dry. The end of the station features an amazing view of the trains rolling down the tracks towards the station. Definitely my most favorite part of this station is the end of the platform. Overall Roxbury Crossing Orange Line station is a great station. One of my personal favorites!
