I have huge issues with laying down in vulnerable positions or being touched by strangers. My teeth were in very poor shape by the time I finally steeled myself to try once more at Jackson Family Dentistry. The staff was so kind, understanding, and gentle. They did everything to put me at ease for my exam. Dr Kowalski was the first Dentist I have felt comfortable with in 20 years! He managed my ptsd with respect and compassion, and removed my wisdom teeth so gently and quickly. I had almost no pain in the recovery. His kindness, professionalism, and skilled, gentle hands provided me with the assurance and trust I needed to go back in for the major dental work, including 4 crowns and a root canal. These were separated into 3 almost 3 hour appointments. Because of Dr Kowalski and his incredible bedside manner and tremendous skill, I have been able to receive the dental care I have needed for TWENTY years. Let me make clear, I do not have dental phobia. I have severe PTSD which was making it impossible to lay down in a dental chair. This man went above and beyond to create a space of trust and security so I could get through my treatments. I NEVER in my life thought that could be possible. His work is flawless, my crowns look amazing, and he did it all without putting me through any more trauma. I do not have dental insurance and his team offers a significant discount when paying out of pocket! If you are a soldier or anyone suffering from PTSD, I highly recommend Dr. Kowalski. He has been the first dentist to gain my trust and I would be walking around with very unhealthy teeth without him. This man is truly a blessing and has the skill to take care of you without excessive pain or complications after surgery. I was shocked how little pain I was in in the days following each procedure. I cannot stress enough how brave this man was to take meon as a patient.....I went from shaking, teary, ready to swing on anyone who touched me, to a calm, let's do this patient in less than 4 visits. They partner with insurance companies to collect data. They receive compensation for this. They really work for them. Not you. You will feel this from the second you walk through their doors until long after you leave. The icky feeling just sticks with you. You will not feel quite right. You may find benefit from Physical therapy, the therapists treatment and massage tips, and you may need/benefit from a splint, but those WILL BE COSTLY, both literally and figuratively... and it really is the figuratively you should understand most. This place shares inaccurate records far and wide. Inaccurate records. Records that WILL follow you and may haunt or hurt you later. Other dentists and doctors and insurance companies WILL get a plethora of information and a litany of "conditions" they see fit to create. Just remember, they do not work for you. There are limited Specislists locally, sadly. If you need the treatment, get it, but listen to your gut, heed the warnings, and pay very close attention to your chart records, get/review copies - and demand corrections - immediately. The doctor would not discuss pricing with me, even though I requested this two weeks prior (so I could budget for my wisdom tooth extraction), he told me to go online and look it up myself and they would just bill me. I thought this was laughable considering others HAVE to want to know pricing before just mindlessly scheduling. This was a top recommendation for me on my insurance website and I will be reviewing this office on their website to let others know not to have their hopes too high. Waste of time! Also, the TVs with cable in the dental chairs are a nice touch. They were also excellent with our 1 year old son! I thought he would run away when he saw the dental tools, but they made it fun without pressure if they couldn't finish the cleaning. They were able to finish though with minimal crying. They made it fun for him! They had a cartoon on the TV and let him see the equipment before using it. He also liked his sticker at the end. The waiting room has a nice view of the river, but I never spend too much time looking at it. Wait times are always very short! Also, they are very flexible with us when scheduling or rescheduling our appointments. I can't speak for the parking, because we live very nearby and walk. There is a for pay structure attached to the building. I'm not sure if they validate or not. I love having such a great dentist so close to us!

I also have asked Ultimate Dental for a copy of my X-rays ( I want my dad to see them) and they will not send them to me. He had to give me the hard news of needing my wisdom teeth removed and also needing to have my cavities filled. He was able to give me a referral to a lovely oral surgeon who took care of my wisdom tooth extraction easily and he took care of all of the cavities. He truly cares about your comfort during the experience as well and uses longer acting topical agents for numbing so your pain doesn't come back as soon as your filling is completed. He explains things well and gives you enough information to make informed decisions. He treats you with a lot of respect as well. The front desk staff is really kind as well and he makes it easy for you to get in for appointments.

As soon as you walk in, Haley will greet you and she is just so lovely! She knows all of their patients by name and even their partners (I got my husband to go there too). The hygienists are professional and thorough with their cleaning. This is a no judgement zone! I had not been to the dentist in a bit and they treated me with respect and patience. They do not usually take insurance but you can get reimbursed by your insurance after. Although this does not work for everyone, I recommend looking into it to see if this is an option because I swear this is the best dentist in MKE!
