The owner is wonderful, very kind and knowledgeable, and the store itself is clean and ordered and incredibly pleasant to walk around. Her feta cheese was phenomenal, and I grabbed quite a few other things that were all high quality while at very reasonable prices. I did not look much down other aisles otger than for a quick curiosity peek, revealing plates, religious candles, seasoning and spices. Many of the dry goods one would find in a full service grocery store. Two pounds of carne asada meat, one pound each of beef and pork sausage links, eggs, milk and off I shuffled to the counter. Although my Spanish is no bueno, the workers were so helpful and they did speak English, they made me feel welcome and appreciative of my business.

It is generally quiet, with one worker at the counter. There are several coolers with canned drinks Mexican cheese, sausage, eggs and milk. There is a moderate sized selection of canned peppers, salsas, soups and beans. There are also jars of adobe, mole and pippin paste, which can be hard to find at your typical grocer. The next aisle contains masa, dried beans, rice, tortillas, sopes and corn husks. The back of the store has a huge display of dried spices and many varieties of dehydrated chilies. Near the register is a large Tupperware container full of authentic Mexican baked coffee rolls and cookies. They also have a small selection of cowboy boots and Mexican artwork. There is a visa/MasterCard sign on the door but to buy food, it is cash only. I have always felt a little odd coming in here as I have not been greeted warmly and my Spanish is rough, however, when you need supplies to make homemade tamales, this is a good option.

The portion size was OK for me, but not for my husband who is 64 and 260 pounds. He felt the goat was pretty good, but the oxtail not so much. He liked the rice and peas, but wish there were more peas. We could count the peas in his rice and in my rice and still have fingers left. What we're used to is a good ratio, rice and peas. The jerk chicken appeared to be overcooked or old. The plate came with 3 sides. So I chose plantains, cabbage, and green beans. The plantains were the worse I've had, the cabbage was okay and the green beans were flavorless. I would give this entire meal 4/10. The large oxtail plate was basic. It also came with 3 sides; macaroni, white rice, and cabbage. Definitely the least enjoyable oxtails we've tried in the area. The macaroni needed salt and the oxtails were tough.
