Jollof rice, plantains, pepper soup with smoked turkey
    Catherine A.

When I am craving West African food, this is the place I go. This is also the place where I bring my African students. All of the food is good, especially if you love food with some heat or kick. The jollof rice is great and I love the pepper soup with smoked turkey. The shawarma is nice, too. If you cannot dine in, I recommend calling in an order for pick up.

First this authentic I requested African cuisine. This is my first time and it was amazing and dipped up to every expectation that I was thinking. Service above traditional, and the ambience felt like home.

This is my second time at this restaurant. The food is fantastic. It is very authentic and flavorful. All of the food is cooked to order so be prepared for a wait... a long wait. I ordered the okra stew with traditional yam fufu. I found my self sopping the fufu along the bottom of the dish, trying to get every last drop! I was not really impressed with the vegetable Ragu. It may have been because by the time the dish was served, it was no longer hot. My husband enjoyed the oxtails and rice. We had the vegetable eggrolls as an appetizer. They were good and helped make the wait for our entrées easier. If you are looking for traditional west African food, you need to give this place a try!

Goat meat, egusi, fufu (unsure what kind.. maybe casava), and pineapple hibiscus juice.

The inside of the restaurant looks clean and neat. The customer service was great! Everyone is right, they were very friendly and accommodating for those who aren't familiar with the food. For my food, it was great! I enjoyed every bite. The goat meat was a little tough, but I'm not familiar enough with goat to know whether or not that's supposed to be the texture. It's flavor was great, however. I have to agree with some other reviews that the portion for the fufu was smaller than what I was expecting. I ended up finishing it before the egusi. I wasn't a big fan of the juice, but I've noticed that everyone does hibiscus differently, so it's a hit-or-miss thing with me. Would totally go again! :) Overall: 8.5/10 Total price: ~$32

We went back for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and tried fried plantains, okra soup with fish, yellow rice, and chicken kabob. All was delicious! There was a hot sauce that came with the kabobs that was really spicy. The yellow rice was flavorful. I particularly loved how the plantains were cooked, they weren't fried hard, but were crispy enough and sweet. Customer service was excellent. We love this place and will be back soon.

Authentic west African which is amazing! I've been here so may times now I've lost count! This husband and wife (chef/owner) duo are amazing! I normally go for the tilapia, peanut soup and plantain fufu! Which are all amazing! I've also had the egusi and okra soups which are Devine! The spring rolls are also delicious light and crispy! Today I was able to try the chefs special menu item of Goat! Let me tell you it was spectacular!!!!!! Tender, flavorful, spicy fall off the bone goodness!!!!! The restaurant is located off of Two Notch near Sandhills. It's always clean and welcoming with fresh flowers on every table! Do yourself a favor and try them out!

Paid right away, I think it's around $15 which includes all you can eat, dessert and drink. Cashier automatically gave me a senior discount. Excellent pulled pork BBQ, in 3 or 4 different styles/ flavors. My favorite was the smoked whole hog where you pull off what you want. Everything was fresh and delicious. Top of the line all you can eat BBQ for South Carolina and I can't think of any BBQ that beats the price. Plenty of seating and it was not too loud. We were able to carry on great conversation. Highly recommend. Sign out front said they have been serving BBQ for over 60 years.

I would eat here once a month or more if i live close. The food is not gonna blow you away but non the less it's a great deal for what you get. Also it was about 1pm on Saturday and they were pretty packed!

We stopped in for lunch and let me tell you... those collard greens are something special. Packed with flavor and the perfect side to make you feel like you're sitting at grandma's table. Now let's talk about the Chicken & Waffles -- hot, fresh, and made with love. The waffle had the most delicious vanilla flavor that reminded me of a funnel cake, with that perfect balance of fluffy inside and crispy edges. Paired with that crispy chicken, it was the kind of comfort food combo that just hits the spot. Come hungry because this is the kind of meal that reminds you why soul food has a way of bringing people together. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the AC was out that day and I can say it was pretty warm inside. But the service was great and our server was so sweet and a true trooper!

I've been to Kiki's Chicken & Waffles on Parkland Road several times for breakfast and lunch,…read moreunfortunately, this most recent visit was disappointing--not only because of the food, but also because of the customer service. When a customer walks into your restaurant, they should be greeted and acknowledged. I stood there for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged me, and the first thing I was asked was whether I had placed an online order. The restaurant was not full at the time, so I found that experience disappointing. A simple "Welcome in, we'll be with you shortly" would have made a big difference. I ordered Kiki's Soul Food Plate with four chicken wings, string beans, sweet potato soufflé, and a muffin, along with a side of collard greens. The chicken wings were fried to a good consistency, but once I bit into them, the chicken was extremely dry--much drier than I expected. The string beans and collard greens were okay, but honestly, neither was anything special. The sweet potato soufflé was another surprise. When I took a bite, I tasted what seemed to be a clove, and I actually had to spit it out. That was definitely not what I expected when ordering sweet potato soufflé I am not a big fan of cloves. The muffin was probably the best part of the meal. It was hot, edible, and had more of a cake-like texture, which I actually enjoyed. I'm not someone who judges a restaurant based on one visit, especially since I've eaten at Kiki's several times before. But this particular visit just didn't live up to my previous experiences. The food and the service both missed the mark this time. I hope this was simply an off day because I would like to see Kiki's do better.

They have reopened with more space and now have switched things to a buffet style restaurant. We had a party of six go today for lunch. Their hours are now from Friday - Sunday, 11AM - 8PM, and offer a full buffet )$18.95) or a Meat & Three or Meat & Two options. You can also order alacarte if you desire. They had a huge selection..Fried Chicken, Chicken with bacon, Brisket slices, Fried Pork tenderloins, Collards, green beans, lima beans, corn, black eyed peas, mash potatoes/gravy, banana pudding and peach cobbler along with a full salad bar. I've probably left off several things. Needless to say there's quite a selection. I tried a fried chicken breast. It was very good, crispy and not dry. Went well with the mashed potatoes and brown gravy. The collards and green beans were also good. I wasn't a big fan of the brisket. It was hard to cut with the knife that they'd given me, but it did have a good taste. I probably wouldn't order that again. I also didn't care for the peach cobbler as much as I usually do. The salad bar had two types of lettuce and quite a large choice for dressings. They also had a broccoli salad which was very runny and not as good as I would've thought. The lighting could be improved over the buffet items as it was hard to tell what some of them were. They had signs in front of the items on the glass but not everything was listed..having to ask what many were. I was a big fan of Southern Mama's at the other smaller site where they served regular sit-down and order from the menu. The buffet format just didn't impress me as much. You move down the line and the staff would take your tray and load it with whatever you picked. Then you sit at a table and the waitress will bring you your drink and often checks on you to see if you need anything else. Service was good. The opinion from my friends: Four of us had chicken. Two of us liked it, two didn't. The vegetables and sides were all good. The beets from the salad bar were just so-so, not great. Broccoli salad wasn't popular with two of us. I don't know if I'd go back for the buffet. I'd prefer to order just the chicken, mashed potatoes and Gravy as a meal. From what I've heard it can get busy on a Sunday. We arrived at 11:30 (Saturday) and there was plenty of room, but by 12:30 it was starting to build up a line to get in.
