3.5 stars for a pretty decent hole in the wall place. We arrived and tried to open the door which was locked. A lady (I am assuming Mimi herself) rushed over and opened the door and explained that she works alone on Saturdays so she keeps the door locked for safety. She was super nice and took some time to explain the menu since it was our first time there. She said everything is made from scratch which I think is awesome. I ordered beef bulgogi with two dumplings, rice, and kimchi. My boyfriend ordered a Philly cheesesteak. The wait wasn't long considering she is all alone taking the orders and making the food! I enjoyed my meal minus the kimchi. I won't hold that against them; it was my first time trying kimchi and I think my wimpy tastebuds can't handle the spice haha. The beef was really good; thinly sliced and nice seasoning. My boyfriend enjoyed his sandwich as well. This is an amazing place! We were at the airport and tried to find something close and it came up under "cheap eats". It was fantastic. Chicken fried rice fried rice. Spicy pork. It was delicious. Mimi is an amazing, seasoned Chef. While the Korean food here is good, the American food Mimi makes is amazing. She has the best burger and fries I've eaten in Orlando. Crispy chicken wings, and fresh subs all at incredibly reasonable prices. There aren't that many mom and pop style restaurants around so my lunch crew tries to stop in once a week. I've been passing this place forever and decided to stop in and support a local restaurant. I was rewarded with authentic Korean food made fresh from scratch by Mimi. She closes at 7pm weekdays so they cater to daily lunch traffic and take out on the way home. Definitely a must for anyone who likes Korean. She also has subs and burgers for those not willing to try her specialties.... Don't expect quick service, since she cooks everything to order...food is always brought to the table hot!!! Delicious, authentic bulgogi and LA galbi at an unbeatable price. Portion sizes were very generous. Never would have guessed a small whole-in-the-wall sub shop would have such tasty authentic Korean food. The purple rice given was very nice as well, an unexpected treat and much more enjoyable to me than plain white rice. My only complaint is that the side dishes given were rather small, but this is true of pretty much any Korean restaurant when ordering takeout, so I can't really complain too much on this point. read more

My cousin and I had the bulgogi ($9.99) that came with 1 bowl of rice, mini sides of 1 cabbage kimchi, 1 bok choy kimchi, and 1 zucchini kimchi. Also, we only ordered chicken wings with fries for $10.99. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food we had. Plus, the food was cooked hot and fresh. The bulgogi was plated sizzling in on a cast skillet. The wings and fries were burning temperature hot. Wings were juicy and crispy. The fries were so crispy on outside and fluffy on inside. We really enjoyed the bulgogi sauce, as we used the french fries and chicken to sop up remaining sauce. Overall, I would return to Mimi's Kitchen especially if I was having a bulgogi craving. It's a nice small restaurant nearby, instead of having to drive all the way to downtown Colonial area. Restaurant including restroom was clean too. One star is deducted for the customer service and somewhat misleading menu price on the picture displays. At the end, Mimi was friendly and welcoming so I can't say customer service was entirely bad. When we arrived, we felt a bit awkward because I think the owner/cashier/cook Mimi was bickering with a customer about iced tea. She addressed that customer by his name, so we think that the customer was a regular and they must have been joking around. The main thing we found off-putting was when she was filing her nails in front of us while at the cash register taking our orders, not making eye contact much, and answering us bluntly. The nail filing was gross, because it made us think, "You are serving food, you should not file nails in front of customers". Even if she does wash her hands before touching food, nobody would want to see that in a restaurant! We still decided to order anyway. Because Mimi owns the restaurant, running it entirely herself must be expensive. There is an up-charge of $0.50 for soft drink refill at the self-serve dispenser. When we asked about "hot and sweet chicken wings" in the picture display, she said there is an extra charge for the "hot and sweet" sauce. This extra sauce was not noted on the picture display, but only the flat price. We didn't think to ask how much the extra charge is, so we went without the sauce. Improvement needed is on the picture advertisements on the wall (prices is misleading), more mindful and approachable customer service in the beginning, and please NO nail filing or any form of that in front of customers. I really hope she washed her hands before preparing our food. I have to admit that before going here, I confirmed that the restaurant's recent food inspection passed. I'm wary of hole-in-the-wall places but I still love to support locally-owned restaurants. 4 stars still, based on hot and fresh quality food, and friendliness towards the end. Mimi's Kitchen just need to really improve on the above part. I still would return, and hope for better consistent quality customer service throughout my entire dining experience. read more

I had no idea what bulgogi beef was and the lady explained well..however since I was on a budget I told myself id try another time if whatever I chose to order within my budget tasted well So for my budget range I opted for the 4 piece chicken wings w/vegetable fried rice at $5 n some change. The wings were delicious but the rice was not good - I personally thought it looked way better than what it tasted. I will return and try the bulgogi and also the dumplings. Wonderful owner and chef. Opposite side of the street from where the Yelp address delivers you it's in the end of a quiet little strip. Mimi welcomes you in like family and gets to work preparing your meal. The aroma of the food floats around increasing your desire for the first bit. The portions of the LA ribs are generous and the sauce typical of Korean BBQ, while the price was merrily less than expected. Happy little corner here. read more

This is a hole in the wall place, they don't serve Sweet and Sour pork (tangsuyuk) anymore, but this place seems to be solely run by Mimi who is a nice lady and very helpful with taking your order. It kind of felt like home. Everything here is fresh and made to order, I ordered dumplings and stir fried pork which was absolutely delicious. The dumplings were crispy and cheaper compared to the Star Gohyang Korean restaurant down the road which is something I really liked. The place itself is relatively small but it's understandable since it's ran by one person (Mimi herself) who cooks and serves all the food at the establishment. Mimi's Kitchen is such a lovely place for both traditional Korean dishes and American foods. Although the Korean dishes are limited, Mimi's makes the best bulgogi and kimchi I've had hands down. I typically also buy her kimchi in bulk so I can eat regularly and also cook with. It's cheap, high quality fare and I eat here almost every week without fail and look forward to it every time.
