I've visited a number of churrascaria's in my business travels as well as personal/family celebrations but visiting Minas is my first ever visit to such a restaurant in Canada and from a non-chain. I found the environment and experience very charming...the restaurant itself is not cavernous but big enough to have many guests in various sizes. Everything about the décor is festive and very unique to their culture and sensibility. The buffet portion had good variety of items that I wanted to have; various salad, soups, nagiri sushi, and let's not forget the dessert! Of course the star of the show was the table served BBQ meat. So delicious! All the meat brought to me was exactly how I like it cooked. The folks doing the serving were very informative and pleasant to interact with. Everything was good! My server was great! Really the entire experience meet my expectations and I left very happy! It looks to be well supported in the community parties were happening during my visit and other happinesses being celebrated. If you live in downtown Calgary and want one part good food, one part good atmosphere and one part good service...Minas has that and then some. When I return to Calgary, Minas will be my first thought for dinner. read more

Loved this Brazilian steakhouse. The ambiance was nice. Camilla our waitress was wonderful, very welcoming and friendly. It was our first time here so she explained how it goes. She recommended one of the best cocktails I've ever had, which is called caipifruta passion fruit. If you like fruity cocktails, I recommend it! I moved to Calgary recently and I was with "Saudades" for some Brazilian food. I have seen this place at different Latin festivals and I have had some of their food/snacks but I haven't had the opportunity to go to the restaurant till now. I was quite delighted with their menu! It can be pricey but it's worth it. We decided to take the option "to share" for 2 people and chose the "Arrumadinho de Alcatra". As you can see in the photo, the portions are good enough for 2. DE-LI-CI-OUS! Service was good and fast and the staff was really good, polite and quick to answer any questions we had. The restaurant is quite roomy, well-organized and clean. They also have a small Brazilian market at the entrance where you can buy Brazilian and other Latin American products. We will be coming back for sure! read more

Came here with the family (10 of us) on a Saturday to celebrate Mother's Day. My brother had made reservations ahead of time so we were seated in right away. My brother and his family had been there but my family hadn't nor our parents. Inside decor is very nice and on this evening there was a live band. I was worried that it would be too loud for my 3 year old but he actually enjoyed it. Prior to our visit I saw Yelp had 10% off on your first visit when you check-in via the app. Good thing as it's a bit pricey for dinner. The family had a great time and meal. Lots of assorted meats came to the table. Highlights were the sausages - kids loved that. Lamb was a little dry. The various beef cuts were great. They also have a little buffet that is included with the price that had salad/veggies, soup, mussels, some cooked items like mash potato, deep fried pork belly, and desserts like cakes and fruit. They also had salmon sashimi which was really good. Family was stuffed at the end. They do a really great job. This wouldn't be an every week thing - too much food but I think we'd back. read more

I have tried most of the Brazilian steakhouses in Calgary so I wanted to go to Minas. It has comfortable seating and a cheerful vibe. The buffet is good but fewer selections than the other places. Overall the food was good although the variety of meat was less than the other steakhouses. Try the chicken hearts, tasty little morsels I haven't seen elsewhere. The drinks list is ok and well suited to the menu. Service is friendly and very obliging. I enjoyed my meal here and it's a nice option for Brazilian steak especially if you live downtown. read more

I have heard great things about this place. It is located near Eau Claire Market in a great spot! I came by Minas tonight as it was recommended as a place to try in Calgary online. I have to say thought I'm not really Impressed. Their food is ok for the price, but nothing amazing or over the top. They also seem to still be in the throes of Covid restrictions. So it doesn't appear like their entire buffet is open. I wouldn't go out of your way if you are visiting Calgary to come to this place. Maybe it's nice for the locals. However I've been to much nicer Brazilian steakhouses for the same price with a greater variety. read more

Yikes. When you think of Brazilian steakhouse, you think quality meat served in a fine dining restaurant. That's what I thought when I brought a friend here for his birthday. What a MISTAKE. This casual restaurant is far from the idealistic Brazilian steakhouses I've dined in. From the sub par appetizers to the questionable meat and the wobbly table, we were amused. HA HA Let's start with the buffet style salad / app bar. They offer a limited cold bar featuring inedible cold salmon (no not carpaccio) to decent (not so fresh) mozzarella and tomatoes to chopped salad varieties. The hot bar includes things like cheesy mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, rice, black beans and noodles. Carb-y things that make you instantly full. The meat options are limited and nothing to brag about. I figured at least the ribeye would a WOW-za but instead it was fatty and just too salty. Meh. I believe in total it's only about 6 different meat varieties. Oh and the lamb? My friend barely touched it and he LOVES lamb. Sigh. Pro tip: opt for the grilled tomato they bring to the table instead of the one sitting on the dessert table Also, check your tables. Ours was so wobbly we could barely cut our meat. read more

A meat lovers dream come true! Haha It was really easy to get a reservation here even on the weekend - they are on open table! There is an open buffet with rice and soup, salads and appetizers which you can get into while waiting for the meat to come around. There are multiple different types of meat that comes around - from triple aaa steak to spicy pork shoulder. I really liked the Parmesan steak as well. There is a sign on the table that you leave on the red side to indicate that you don't want anymore meat to come by your table anymore. The meat for the most part is cooked medium rare so if you want anything different than that you have to ask for that to be made for you separately. Overall I really liked my experience here in terms of both the food and the service. It is on the pricey side but if you go in during lunchtime it is more affordable for sure! read more

Wow wow wow!!! My husband and I went to this place when we were visiting Calgary during Christmas!! This place is awesome and impressed us so much with the food and it's options!! We feel we were in meat heaven!! The price was higher then average meals but for Christmas or special occasions this is sooo worth it!! I'm glad that I got a discount from Yelp for 10% off but you have to try this place at least once! I know usually for Brazilian BBQ usually isn't cheap but this place is actually the cheaper one in Calgary! ( instead of 3 dollar sign it's a 2 dollar sign! ) there are so many meat options that they bring to your table to slice it for you! Great service and customer service. Management and servers are very attentive to what the customer would like and always trying to work on making the place better. There are some good food choices like the Parmesan beef but what made me give them 4 stars was their customer service and how quick they were to help solving any issues that arose. The atmosphere was great! I was very surprised at how large and open seating they had for the night. They did a good job with the lighting the music for Saturday night was not my cup of tea but hey they had music verses no music. read more

The food at Minas is very Brazilian like , the appearance n flavor is very typical Brazilian , the caipirinha drinks made the proper way. I was sited away from the crowd per my request , but felt it was a mistake , felt I was forgotten many times. Keep watching the Gauchos walk by with the meat n skipping my table. I manage to change that by telling the waiter , she was kind and talk to the staff making sure they didn't skip my table no more. Overall great experience n I'll def be back. Valentine's dinner for two! Found this place on Yelp and decided to try it based on the awesome reviews. We made our reservations on Yelp too and the restaurant called us within minutes to confirm. The service 5/5. Right from when we walked in the hostess was polite and friendly. The meat servers were so nice they help us check off our meat list and made sure any meats we haven't tried came out next. The servers came often and we never had to wait too long for the food. For the food 4/5. They have a good selection of sides and salads. All taste great and accompanied the meats really well. We came for dinner and there were 14 meat selection. My favourite was the garlic steak and the chorizo sausage. But the other steaks were just over cooked for me (personal preference). Our family came on a Friday night when there was an extra cover charge for the one man band. His music was a bit loud and distracting. Our servers were pleasant and attentive. The salad, side dish, and dessert bar were very impressive (though the selections weren't as extensive as Pampa's, there were more hot dishes, including seafood and the requisite Brazilian feijoada(black bean stew). There was a wide assortment of rodizio, although their timing was a bit inconsistent. We kept asking for the lamb but took forever to come to our table(and when it came, it was a little overcooked and tough). What an amazing dessert bar! The dulce de leche was the best I've ever tasted (been trying to make it at home with no success). Dessert table also had little cakes, coconut/chocolate/guava sauces, but I was too full to eat any more. read more

Wonderful experience! I was traveling to Calgary and spent the New Year countdown night in this restaurant. The food (including wines and desserts) costed $99 per person and it really worth the amount. Salad and fried rice were served before the churrosco was ready. We came in early for a 5pm dinner reservation on a Friday. We were the first there and the staff was very welcoming. The salad bar or more accurately, appetizer bar is very extensive and twice the size of Bolero. There is so much variety, both hot and cold, you could have a great dinner there alone and I found myself having to hold back so I didn't diminish my meatarian opportunity. Several highlights from the salad bar is the salmon sashimi and the excellent hard cheese. Surprisingly, I had picked up some tomato/cheese salad. I found the tomatoes a great palate refresher between courses. Something like the ginger at a Japanese restaurant. The staff brought skewer after skewer of various meat selections. Lamb, pork, chicken and of course beef. The sirloin was my favorite. The roasts were initially at medium rare, which is perfect for us, but they went towards well done by the time we were done. I can understand that there was a slow start to the dinner rush and the roasts were on the spit for a while. We were stuffed as to be expected and went with a light dessert, the mango mousse. This was excellent and not heavy like a chocolate cake or cheesecake. Service was great and the restaurant has as mentioned an outstanding salad/appetizer bar that is worth going to alone. The restaurant also has an intimate atmosphere and more so than another Brazillian steakhouse, Bolero. Several differences between the two of note are the Bolero has 1/2 the salad bar selection (which is still a good experience none the less), Bolero has perhaps 50% more roast selections and for my wife and I, several very desirable selections, specifically the glazed roasted pineapple and the roasted Halloumi cheese that is somewhere between mozzarella and feta in texture and flavour. We prefer Minas for atmosphere and salad bar, but the greater variety of roasts, plus the glazed pineapple and roasted cheese are the deal breakers that lead us to prefer Bolero. You certainly won't go wrong though to go to Minas and it's a very positive experience. read more

The meat options that came around to the tables were good- beef, sausage, chicken were all deliciously seasoned and tasty. Buffet and dessert options were okay- just okay. We ate a lot, but could have enjoyed a greater variety despite the limits of lunch service options here. We have eaten Brazilian BBQ lunch at Pampa as well and did note the fewer buffet selections here compared to Pampa. I tried the Brazilian coffee- yum but strong, so be prepared! Since oct 1st, they now add an illegal 4% service fee to every bill, calling it a "small business support fee" This is in addition to everything else, including the expected tip. It will also be sales tax fraud if they choose not report the fee as sales for their GST filing because no GST is being collected at the time of sale on this service fee. Watch out for the fine small print on the menu's because there's no transparency on this cash grab or any other future scheme they may invent. Very poor optics for any business. Excellent Brazilian rodízio. Taking into account the fact that you will never get the full experience of it outside of Brazil this is as close as I have seen in Calgary. The meat is a given. Great cuts made to perfection and in a nonstop parade. But the real differentiator are the side dishes and deserts. These are the real gems of Brazilian dishes, I was very impressed with how they picked some of the best examples of delicious traditional goodies and delivered them with great quality. Another differentiator in our experience was that no one was dropping a bill at your table so get you out of there. Brazilian dinning is about the social aspect and involves hours of slow eating and drinking while socializing. Note that there is a "time limit" but in no way did we ever get a hint of rushing from the staff. Overall a great experience and excellent food. read more

I left a message asking if they could accommodate and they got back to me within 2 hours (unlike boleros that never got back to me after several attempts over the span of weeks). We had a party of 24 people - some of us arrived early and they sat us right away - no waiting. The staff was super attentive and friendly - answered all our question and no point were we ever left waiting for food. The service is top notch, atmosphere is lovely and the meats are phenomenal!! But where they fell short was the salad bar and sides... not many hot sides to choose from and a mildly lack lustre salad bar. While the options were above average for a buffet, there weren't too many to choose from. I will note that when the mashed potatoes had run out the floor manager did come to our table to let us know they'd been replenished. I will rave again that the meats, as mentioned were outstanding! So this place is a Brazilian steakhouse meaning that the cooks come around with the meat on large skewers. There's great variety from chicken hearts to chorizo sausage to lamb. You have a little triangle with a red side and a green side. Green means: go ahead and lay that delicious meat on me while red means stop or pause. The service was friendly and all you can eat buffet and mean was $42. On the weekdays it is $35. Yelp rarely lets me down when travelling but in this instance the place was oversold. I'd recommend getting reservations for sure because otherwise you get a little spot in the back of the restaurant behind a cement pillar. The side dishes had a nice selection of salads and potatoes. There was salmon sashimi and cubed ham and cheese salad so there was no unifying theme. The cold dishes were OK and then was also breakfast potatoes a sort of shepherds pie and a selection of vegetables and breads. Also a lot of desserts available. The meat part was a bit of a letdown. With the barbeque selection just didn't have a lot of Flavor. The chicken drumsticks and chorizo of sausage record but the pork and the roast beef or flavourless and the pork was very dry. When meat is the focus of the restaurant, it needs to be the star. I just didn't think that was the case here. read more
