Favorite place to eat in all of CT. This is a casual Brazilian deli where you pick your own food from a salad and hot bar and request meat from the meat carving station afterwards. This is an extremely popular blue collar spot in Danbury that became really special to me as a undergrad student and has remained an amazing place. The Pao de queijo is amazing with the right balance of chewiness with a nice crust on the outside. Picanha and beef ribs are also outstanding-- the ribs are incredibly rich, tender and flavorful. The beans are also seasoned to perfection. Hot bar is also really nice and overall you can make a really satisfying, personalized meal for yourself at a reasonable cost. I recommend coming before 9 PM because they start running out of stuff and hot bar looks rough at night. There is always a long line. But that's because they're that good. Is the line worth it. YES!! The steak is great. We always take it home. My tip: order rare, so when it gets home it isn't overcooked. We have ordered delivery but the steak comes overcooked so it's better to actually go there. Minas Carne is an authentic Brazilian barbeque restaurant and delicatessen that opened in Danbury, Connecticut in 1997. It was founded by the Reyes Family of restaurateurs, which includes Luis, Juan & Richard. The Reyes Family immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 1990. The first eatery they opened in 1991 was Amigo's Deli & Carniceria, which is still going strong today. In 1997, the family opened Minas Carne, which features authentic Brazilian BBQ and traditional sides served in a fast-casual environment. It quickly became a popular staple in Danbury. In 2020, the Reyes Family opened Mariposa Taqueria. It closed in 2026, but the Reyes Family plan to turn it into a second location for Minas Carne which will open soon. I have eaten at Minas Carne numerous times over the years. The restaurant is 400 feet away from Western Connecticut State University's Midtown Campus, and it has long been a popular food option for WestConn students. I myself attended WestConn for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Recently I was in Danbury to see a concert, so I decided to stop by Minas Carne for some dinner beforehand. Everything is buffet style here and the line moves quickly. I grabbed a platter and loaded up on some sides such as "White Rice", "Yellow Rice", "Brown Beans", "Meat & Bean Stew", "Fried Chicken", "Beef Stew", and "Seasoned Plantains". Mina's has great garlic steak and chicken wings, and I love their yellow rice and collard greens. But today's visit felt like I was ripped off. I loaded up the container with rice and collard greens, got 3 chicken wings and garlic steak, and paid $41. It was 2.7 lbs charged at $14.05. But the posted prices were $10.49/lb for combo and $14.49 for meat only. How do they determine pricing? Obviously, it looks like I got only all meat in the photo, but it's sitting on top of rice and collard greens, which, by the way, the rice is very heavy since I got a lot of it. I think that's just a bit deceptive when a restaurant does that kind of crap to their customers. I saw one review from years ago that they do arbitrarily change pricing when they think you got more meat on your plate. That's just plain wrong. read more

Their meat is so fresh and actively cooking when you get it to order! They have two large bar/buffet style tables to get sides from. A salad one and one with different hot foods (rice, beans, potatoes, etc). When you get there, you grab a container and fill it with whatever you want! They charge by the lb. It is super affordable and worth it! I got a container with sirloin and sausage and some hot food sides and it was only $11. I am already planning my drive to go down there again! The meat is cut right in front of you while on the skewer. Line moves quick but it gets crowded. There are some tables inside to eat, but looks like most people take to go. Small parking lot in back. In the center of the city, this Brazilian bbq spot provides quality meat and meals! Not to mention the convenient hours. Stopped by to pickup an early lunch. Parking is found behind the store. Great aroma as you enter. Can easily understand the popularity of the place with the morning specials, variety of buffet items and grilled meats. You pick your container and start piling on. We skipped the salad items and picked small portions of rice, plaintains, beans and beef stew. We then added grilled pork and sirloin steak at the next station. Last, we weighed our food at the register. Came to about $16. Not bad considering this was a meal for two people. We didn't get drinks but there were several coolers with lots of choices. When we got home, we divvied up the food. Everything was delicious! Loved the grilled meats. Wish I had eaten there, but it seemed a bit warm.
