We popped in on a snowy night and had amazing food and service. The menu is extensive so it's hard to choose. Eventually we chose a turkey burger, fries, and salad. Everything was fresh, huge portioned, and delicious! We were staying just down the street and this was an excellent find. One tip: the desserts look much better than they taste. It's a true surprise. I ordered the "Yankee Pot Roast". The Yankee Pot Roast (beef with carrots, potatoes, celery and so forth) and found no Yankee. Stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday on our way out of town. I was a little worried when I saw how crowded it was and didn't think we'd be able to get a table for our party of 7. The hostess was wonderful and I'm sorry I didn't get her name but she was lovely and really was good at her job! The food was great. I got the Dutch apple pancakes. It was 3 large pancakes with cinnamon apples and candied pecans. Very decadent and I only was able to eat half but it was delicious. Two people at our table got the cheesecake stuffed French toast and it really is stuffed with cheesecake. I tried it and it was great! We got several sides of bacon which was cooked crispy and was really good. The kids liked their French toast and chocolate chip pancakes. Stony Hill was busy for breakfast even late morning on a weekday, but it was never full to the point where you had to wait for a table. That's because the food - good basic diner food - comes out fast and the service is attentive and friendly. The aisles between the booths are narrow, so please make room for folks with mobility issues and waitresses with full trays. Some of the menu items looked really interesting. Had I entered super-hungry, I probably would have tried the moussaka omelet, something I've never actually seen anywhere else. They have quite a lot of egg wraps on the menu too. I settled instead for a spinach Benedict. It was smothered in Hollandaise sauce, tasty but probably not homemade. The potatoes were a little inconsistent, some parts were crispy (my preference), some less, and personally I would have enjoyed having some onions or peppers in with them as well. The coffee is industrial and VERY strong. Even after I mixed in 3 creamers worth of half-and-half, it was still quite dark. But the staff came by with refills frequently. On my wife's and I's recent trip to Boston on the way up we are looking for a quick bite to eat late @ night. We decided to give Stony Hill Diner a try And it was a great decision. 1st of all the service was impeccable they greeted us at the door and seated immediately. Unfortunately I cannot remember the waitress's name because she deserves kudos for service she gave us. I started out with a tomato soup it was hearty enough and very flavourful and I actually could have made a meal of just a soup, but I did not stop there I went ahead and ordered the Gyro Greek Burger. Most places call it a Greek Burger if they throw a little feta cheese and taziki sauce on the side however, This Burger went beyond be on those standards. It had all the flavors of a typical Gyro with lamb meat and seasonings mixed with hamburger meat. Topped with nice big chunks of Feta and the taziki sauce on the side for you to add. You could tell the sauce was homemade and fresh. If I didn't know better I would have been thinking I ate a gyro instead of a Burger. I don't know if I will ever be backup that way but if I am I will definitely stop there again and get this Burger and I will recommend this place to anyone traveling North towards Boston. read more
