This is the kind of neighborhood place I look for. Great food friendly locals fast service. It's all good! Although parking is scarce you can slip into a spot at the Dunkin Donuts next door. Lots of excellent home made items on the menu. I had the Chorizo omelet with home made Chorizo this was terrific. Don't pass on the house made hot salsa. A was enjoying the home fries too. This place has a Hispanic flair to all the traditional diner fare. I like this place and will defiantly return. read more

I needed a quick place to eat on Main Street in Danbury, and I stumbled into the Main Street diner, and I'm really glad I did. The food was Mexican/Guatemalan and was really good. I couldn't quite decide on what to get so the chef and waitress help me and I got an omelette. Now truthfully, I'm not exactly sure what was in the omelette. It could've been chili, Maybe there was some chorizo sausage, but it was served with beans And corn tortillas (they asked me if I wanted toast or tortillas, and the chef looked at me and said get the tortillas) and oh my God was it great. I am very Disappointed with the food and service from the diner. One of the people who worked for spilled orange juice all over me while trying to give my boyfriend his overcooked French toast. My huevos rancheros were very gross and the only thing that I liked there was their hot sauce. read more

I don't want to be perceived incorrectly, this diner was good. It just wasn't great. The owner and staff are great, and pleasant. They were prompt, and friendly. I even remember the owner being pregnant and having great conversation. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. My ranchero eggs were good, but would have liked the beans to be more flavorful, and the potatoes to be better. But they were still perfect for the time, after a late night, and with good people. I used to consider Panchos Tacos the best Mexican food in Danbury. That was before I discovered this hidden gem near the intersection of Main Street and South Street. The menu offers a selection of typical American diner food, but I didn't bother with that during my visit. I worked for a short time with one of the head cooks at Main Street Diner, and he asked me to come visit him there so that I could taste some real, home style Mexican food. My husband and I started out with a plate of Chilaquiles in homemade Tomatillo salsa, then tried a plate of the best Huevos Rancheros I've ever eaten. Then we ordered a couple of Tacos: one Chorizo and one Carnitas. Both were covered in fresh chopped Cilantro and served on warm soft corn Tortillas. At Main Street Diner they make almost everything from scratch, including their three house Salsas. Their extra efforts definitely show through in the flavors and quality of the food they serve there. The restaurant is currently only open for breakfast and lunch, but I've heard that they are considering opening for dinner sometime soon. If you prefer real Mexican Food over your typical Velveeta entrenched Tex-Mex I suggest you check this place out. read more

This diner is authentic! The Mexican food is delicious and you can see them making it right in front of you. The only issue I've ever had was deciding whether to get lunch or breakfast because both are delicious. The owners are super nice and the waitresses are as well. I've been eating here for over 10 years. If you love homestyle Mexican food this is the place for you. Try the tamales either chicken or pork with a side of jalepenos or red or green salsa.
