Got my first tattoo here from Bear. Without other grounds for comparison, I still feel very pleased . I was pretty nervous, and without getting into all the messy details, it took two days to finish a small tattoo, and in the interim my stencil smeared. Both Kevin and Bear were very accommodating and patient with me and worked with me to finish the tat and re-stencil it and make sure it was an overall good experience. I will say that Bear has a . . . fluid . . . sense of time. The whole process took much longer than I'd expected it would. He gave me time estimates on maybe 5 or 6 occasions, and probably fewer than half were really accurate (the longer ones, btw). If you can be flexible you'll have a better time than if you are picky about meeting deadlines. read more

Jon, the piercer, was amazing! Went to him on a day they were having a deal and got my nose and several piercings on my ears done. I felt very taken care of and have been recommending people to come here since then. He is very professional and caring. Gave me great advice on how to care for them and hooked it up with awesome stuff! He even told me to take vitamins and told me to come back and he would help me change jewelery. So I went to this place months back to get a tattoo it was affordable, everyone was friendly including the owner Kevin and I was in and out in no time! Perfect . So I decided to go back there for my second tattoo today, I go in there it was packed. The owner Kevin asked me what he can do for me, I showed him a picture of the tattoo I wanted and he says "impossible!" And turns away. Ummm okay? So I asked why not. He tells me why and that a portrait would need a smooth area . Okay that's fine. But then he goes on a rant about how I'm black and that it wouldn't look good on me and that he's white and it would be much easier for him to find a job than me with it,and asking me where I worked and that he wasn't going to do it .So because I am black I can't express myself and get tattoos that other races can get? No! No! I am black I can't get that you'll be portrayed as a thug? I am a grown man I come to you for a service and you give me a rant like I'm a child begging you for a favor, if you're not going to do it just say that and save me the speech you're not going to be paying my bills. And mind you he said this in front of a whole full room of people! Will never step foot in this shop again. Kudos to Rick and his professionalism, positive vibes, and most importantly his outstanding artistic prowess. As a former graphic designer, he has a unique eye for making tattoos pop. I went in to get some old, stale ink refurbished and renovated and left ecstatic. He transformed my wizard wolf and my James and the Giant Peach tattoo to something truly special. I went in about two months ago to talk to the owner about 3 pieces and to get a small heart tattoo that day. He passed me off to an underling for the heart, told me to write down what I wanted so he could draw some stuff up for me, and insulted the person who I told him referred me as I paid. The heart tattoo has blurry lines, I never heard back from Kevin about the other pieces, and who insults folks that praise your business? I'll have to pay even more to have the tiny heart fixed. I would strongly suggest that you NOT use Mind Crusher for even the simplest of work. read more

I had my nipples pierced two weeks ago by Chris. I had been thinking about getting it down for awhile and was a little bit nervous. The whole process was amazing all the questions were answered so that i felt comfortable and confidant. I wasn't rushed to get up after the piercing. I was encourage to sit while I let the rush pass and my blood sugar come back to normal. I would highly recommend coming here. Kevin and Mind Crusher Tattoo is top notch! I walked in a few weeks ago with an overworked, sad looking tattoo on my wrist from another local shop. And after said shop dismissed my concerns about the state of the tattoo, I came to Mind Crusher in hopes to get some feedback on what was happening and what I needed to do. After giving more than the adequate amount of information I needed about what was going on with my tattoo, he offered to fix it up when it was all healed for FREE. He showed me a bunch of his work and talked a bit before I left. I came back a few weeks later when my crap tattoo was healed and he fixed me right up. This dude is awesome and not only gained my respect, but also my return business as I will DEFINITELY be coming back to get some more work done. Fantastic Shop !!! I've been told by two previous tattoo artist that I couldn't get color because of my complexion. When I walked in I already assumed that I couldn't get color and immediately the owner told me that I could. I am so happy with the result of my tattoo I even got a bright color too. STAY AWAY FROM THE GUY WITH THE BIRD ON HIS FACE!!!!!!! This is a great place to get tattooed by Kevin or Nester. Correct me if I wrong, but I believe they have two new artist. The guy I went to was a fuxking asshole. I went there to get some tats. I always get 2 or more tats when I go there. So I called to make sure Nester was available, because I knew Kev wasn't going to be free that's just how it is. It's the same for Nester too, but his clients have a higher rate of cancelling. Not because he not talented. Just because idk they just do. (This is from perspective) I writing this so you guys don't get confused about my review. Kev and Nester the FUCKING BEST!!! Ok so I walk in it feels like home. I say whats up to Nester and Kev. Bird man walks over and ask if he could help me? I said "no thanks" he asked are you sure I said "yeah I'm coo bro" I looking at the new portfolios nice work, if I may add. So Nester suggested that they have other artists, So I'm like cool. I've been tatted by everyone in there in clouding the other guy bear, so I figure why not. Spread the love (money) so I showed bird man what I wanted done. He said yeah no problem. Drew it out looks great. This is where the b/s starts. I wanted the tat in the right place. I was getting it behind my ear, but I want it at specific spot. Bird man acts like I asked him for a kidney or something. He started getting frustrated, because I wanted my tattoo in certain spot. I'm sorry, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to place the tattoo I'm paying for in the place I want it at. I went there to get 2 tats. They have specials everyday. Saturday was 100$ tats for 50$ I asked him about it. He told me 150 for 80 today lmao ok bro. I have mind crusher on fb everyday they post their specials. No worries I said let me just get this tat, and I'll get some more next time. Getting my tat done no conversation idc, but I was use to have convos with Kev Nes and bear. Tats done and he's billing me and he still has an issue. He's not saying anything offensive, but it's like he didn't wanted be there. Really a rude guy. I wasn't even going to go to him if nester didn't suggest him. After I tipped him he clam Down. Never again will I go to bird man. Now I'm not saying this place is bad. This is the best place to go in the chi. Great prices great artist (Kevin and Nester) I didn't try the other new guy, but I will next time ago. Stay away from bird man not worth it. The man with the bird on his face is disrespectful and rude. I was so excited about getting my tattoo. I showed him my idea and long story short, he basically told me it was stupid and I should go some where else because he flat out wouldn't do it. He started showing me other things, clearly more of his style. This is MY tattoo, going on MY body. I'm open to artist suggestions but he did not even try, he insulted what I was getting. It ended up being either get what he wanted or leave. So I left I don't need that kind of attitude. Also when me and my friend walked in at 9:45 they guys working there said they were closed, the site says 11:00PM M-SAT? I work at a restaurant and even when customers come in five minutes before closing we still have to serve them. disappointed with their customer service. earlier this afternoon (about 12:30) I called inquiring about a piercing I was interested in receiving this day, they quoted a price for me and told me they would be able to service me anytime before 8, I clarified that I'd be coming into the shop later on that day. I presented Bear with a picture of a tattoo that another shop quoted me $400 to do. He charged me half of that price and did an amazing job! In fact, he talked me through the whole thing, offered suggestions on how to make it my own and used his artistic eye to enhance the tattoo. It looks better than the original picture I showed him!
