This weekend I had the chance to come back and I'm so glad I did! The location is awesome. There's ample paid street parking and a ton of other stores and restaurants nearby. The front of the store is a large selection for adults and young adults, and then there's a nice kid section in the back. Employees are all awesome and very friendly AND will offer suggestions, which I love. I wish there was a bookstore like this one in my home town haha. But if you are in the area and are a reader, it's absolutely worth checking out!

They give you a little buzzer that goes off once your order is ready and when you pick it up there's a little bucket for the buzzer. There is also plenty of fun knick knacks and items for purchase. One looking for Magic Tree House books which they did not have. One looking for Berenstein Bears, found two. The oldest one looking for a chapter book she thought would be interesting. She found one as well. I perused the fiction section hoping to find a book I haven't read by an author I enjoy. I didn't find anything. My dream was to have a book inspired photoshoot and she happily let us use luminary for the shoot. This was my first time learning of the bookshop as I'm new to town and so happy to have found it. I had a little bit of a hard time finding the location because I'm not familiar with Minden. It's tucked into the corner of a strip mall with two shops on either side, and the sign wasn't super visible. The shop owner is super kind and welcome and able to help in all capacities. She knows her in store stock well, and can also order books if you're looking for something she doesn't have. Definitely wroth checking out! I came in to find a notebook and not only was I met with a wide range of options, I also found their selection of novels and kids story books was incredible! After about 10 minutes of trying to decide which notebook I liked best I decided to take an extra something for my daughter at a very reasonable price. I met Annie one of the owners and she was friendly and informative. They're celebrating two years of being open! Looking forward to coming back for a new read for the both me and my daughter! (Which I do love BTW) This store has one of the most intuitive layouts I've ever encountered in a bookstore, and the selection, wow! After making all of my selections, I spoke to the owner for a bit. He seems to have a passion for finding everything interesting and unique. What a nice guy! I tried to keep it reasonable and only bought four books, but I already have plans to go back, and I reached out to friends who are in the area to see if there's anything they need! It seems more critical now than ever to have as many books as you can so that we don't lose history.

GORGEOUS space, tall shelves, and a ladder too! Very friendly staff and all the most current best sellers and a wonderful local/hiking/skiing section! They have a separate space for the kiddos. We've been coming to this toy store for years, and every time we're in Tahoe we make a point to…read moreshop here because we believe in supporting small, local businesses. We typically spend hundreds of dollars on each visit, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While we were shopping, my daughter asked if she could take the display slinky out to look at it. The employee responded with a rude "No." I completely understand not wanting customers to handle display items, but at most toy stores, display toys are there for children to interact with. My daughter was polite and simply asked. A kind explanation would have gone a long way. The bigger issue was the customer service afterward. The slime my friend purchased wasn't really slime--it had the consistency of glue and immediately got all over my kids' hands. She politely let the owner know, not asking for a refund or anything, just so she was aware there might be an issue with the product. Instead of apologizing or thanking her for the feedback, the owner rolled her eyes and dismissed her. We don't expect perfection, but we do expect kindness and basic customer service--especially from a business we've intentionally supported for years. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling unwelcome, and we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

That said, I don't know their story, if they had a bad day, or if they just were not loving working at a toy shop on a busy weekend. That said, the prices are a TOUCH on the high side but honestly that is to be expected in a tourist area. I'm hoping that the cheerful workers return but honestly, I get it.
