This place has 5 stars for a reason. We did the Conspiracy Room for our 1 year anniversary trip out in Temecula wine country. We wanted something else to do in the evening and this place was TOTALLY worth it. Surprises left and right. You don't need outside knowledge. You just gotta figure out the puzzles in front of you. The fiance and I did the gold rush escape. I was a little concerned with how small and empty the place was. I thought we were at the wrong spot. Upon arrival, was greeted by a friendly staff. He gave me some information about how the family business was developed. His enthusiam was infectious. We were provided with a locked box that you had to decode, which included snacks inside. I thought the maze was very challenging. No worries, as another staff will provide you with clues if you need help. The room was interesting and set up pretty elaborately. We did escape with some help. My only request would be more rooms to explore. All and all, a fun date and something different to do. read more

MindTrap Rules!!! So my girlfriend and I were in the area for a quick wine tour and we had a couple hours to kill, so naturally we had to do an escape room! This was our 17th room overall and we even found some new favorite puzzles. First things first, we were referred to Mind Trap from several other escape room game masters from the area. We already had a very good idea of how great these rooms were going to... but we had no idea how awesome they really were. We conquered both rooms in the same day and even got to chit-chat with Nathan (owner/game master) about the entire escape room industry. Conspiracy was the first room we tackled and we fell in love with the set and great variety of puzzles! Pros: Set design was absolutely amazing! Variety of puzzles ( even some new ones that we had never seen) Technology Hint System was probably my favorite of all the rooms we have done, it kept us in the story line while still being just the right amount of helpful without just giving the answer away. Cons: Well after sitting here trying to think of something that I didn't like about the room I cannot think of a single thing I would change! Gold Rush was also a great room with an amazing set design! Pros: Set design ( even better than Conspiracy) Relevant puzzles Spacious room Tech Hint system Cons: Again it is very difficult to pick apart such a great room, I just wish it was longer! Overall, we were absolutely blown away by everything about Mindtrap from the amazing rooms to the even better customer service! Also, if u stop in and try their rooms make sure you test their locks in the lobby first it's worth it :) Nathan was obviously an escape room enthusiast himself which made the post-room conversation very exciting and we even visited another room on his recommendation and loved that one as well. Both rooms at Mindtrap are a solid fun adventure! I brought a group up here from San Diego to celebrate a birthday and we had a great time. Gold Rush Room was my favorite because it was very immersive and had. Some creative elements to their puzzles. however, which ever room you choose you can't go wrong. Hints are unlimited so skill level can be accommodated and both rooms can be done without hints if you wish to take on the challenge. Come up and try Mindtrap! read more

We've done 2 rooms at the Murrieta location as a family with kids ages 11-20. Oz and Excalibur were both tons of fun and would highly recommend MindTrap to all. Decor is wonderful and there is a good mix of clue difficulty so all ages participated and felt apart of it. It is an expensive hour of entertainment for a family- wave more than movie theater plus popcorn. But, if you do it once a year for a special celebration like a birthday then it doesn't feel like such a hit to your wallet. It's really is a great time together. My family of 10 had an awesome time! This is a great team building activity for the whole family. My teens and preteens were engaged the whole time and really liked trying to crack the clues. We did the case that took place outside through Old Town Temecula. It was fun going through the town. As we were going to our various locations along our puzzle route we also discovered great locations to visit like the Penny Pickle museum, an ice cream shop, various restaurants, etc. Our MindTrap host was super nice and even allowed us to go a little over our allotted time because we were the last team for that day. Overall awesome experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for family fun outside the box! read more

I completed the oz themed escape room at the other location, so when I saw a virtual experience/escape room available at this location,I thought I would give this a try! I am an experienced escape roomer and have done 1 virtual escape room the day before. It is $60 for first 2 connection and $15 per connection. Pricing is fair imo. Virtual escape rooms has been popping up everywhere since the pandemic and I sure hope it is here to stay. Temecula is far from me, so i love that I was able to still participate! With that said, my review for virtual escape rooms is going to be different from a brick and mortar room. I don't think anything can really replace the tactile component and the ability to scan the room with your own eyes. It also requires a different skill set -- the ability to verbalize your actions and ability to be work w/ game master. We completed the Gold Rush room and escape with about 15 minutes left. The way this virtual experience works is that the gamemaster (Isaia who is AWESOME) has a camera on his body and he enters the escape room. We instruct him on where to go, what to touch, and how to answer puzzles. The gamemaster is sooooo important in this type of game because he took the role of One Eyed Bill VERY seriously and made the whole experience immersive in a different way. We were solving the puzzles through HIS POV. Because we were viewing the room through his lens and eyes, the difficulty level of an escape room could be adjusted. For example, If I completed this room in person I think I would rated this room a 1-2/5 in difficulty but this experience is more like 3/5. Overall, I rated his experience a 5 star because it IS a novel experience and they got this all figured out within several weeks! Impressive. I am also going to provide more constructive criticism bc I feel there's a lot of room for improvement still and I want to be able to come back and do another room ;) 1. Better video camera quality...I know this might be hard bc Bill has to navigate the room a lot and the movement makes it blurry 2. More things to put into inventory/actions in inventory. This part of the escape room is so fun and I feel there could have a lot of game developments in that part! 3. Assign jobs to participants. For example, inventory person, spokesperson (person to tell GM the final key code/answer), navigator (person to tell GM how to move), etc 4. The ability to log in through different connections means that it gives the GM an ability to send private message to one party instead of the whole group. Use that to create a puzzle that requires participants to work together to complete it. There's so many things that can be done in this area and I can't wait to see how it is executed! read more

My wife and I have recently became addicted to escape rooms. We have done a total of 7 in the last 3 months. One in San Diego and the rest in the Temecula area.  We were on a last minute date night so I called the MindTrap as we haven't tried any of their rooms yet. They were closed at the time but called me back right away and said they found someone to come open up for us which was awesome!  We headed over there and were welcomed by the owners! After spending several minutes talking with them you could tell they had a passion for Escape Rooms as well.  They recommended the Gold Rush room saying it was the highest rated room in the Inland Empire. Let me tell you the room did not disappoint!! We both felt it was the best room we have experienced since we started these adventures.  Obviously I do not want to give up any details of the room but once you walk in you are totally transformed into the 1800's, smack dab in the thick of the Gold rush!  It was both challenging and enjoyable, we completed the room with just under 15 minutes remaining and had a total blast! It's been FOREVER ago since before Covid that I did an escape room so I was ecstatic to be able to do one again. I enjoyed doing Nightwalker. I was a little intimidated at first because only 1 other person in our group had done an escape room & though I'd done about 20, I still wasn't quite confident w/my escape room skills on a harder room. Our group got out with a few minutes to spare(like 3ish I think). The staff was helpful in throwing us a few hints without making us feel as though they were helping too much. The only thing I don't understand was why our group was charged a higher price for having a larger group as we booked 2 rooms to accommodate the larger group we had. read more

I love MindTrap! From the very first experience to the very last. The family that owns this place is amazing and I cannot emphasize that enough. They're so sweet, accommodating, enthusiastic and welcoming. First, I'll talk about their website because that's the first place I visited. They rate their rooms by difficulty and that's extremely important to me. Sometimes I am bringing beginners with me and would like a beginner room for them to do so having that difficulty rating is a huge factor in whether or not I'll give a company a chance. The first room I did was Gold Rush which was a beginner room and it was only my mom and I so I wanted something a little easier. I really really enjoyed Gold Rush. It was my favorite. It had a lot of great puzzles and a lot of great special effects. We didn't make it out in time but were able to continue for about 5 minutes more and made it out. We came back about 2 days later to take advantage of one of their pricing specials for the anniversary of the moon landing. We did their Conspiracy escape room and I really enjoyed that one too. We were a group of 4 and needed a couple of hints but eventually made it out with 5 minutes to spare. I think that our game master mentioned that they were planning on opening a new location in Murrieta by the end of the year and whenever I come back home to visit I am definitely going to hit up their rooms at that location. I can't wait! TL;DR summary: Their rooms have difficulty ratings and are really fun with great special effects. The game masters do not stay in the room with you and they have unique ways of delivering hints unlike any other escape rooms I've been in. read more

Hands-down, their rooms are some of the most well thought out, visually stunning, and just plain fun rooms I've ever done! I have taken my kids here on multiple occasions too and they also enjoy the experience. You can't go wrong in any of the rooms. if you are doing one with a child then gold rush and excalibur are for you. Area 51 their 30 minute one is great too! my favorite is 40 thieves. so beautiful and innovative. I haven't been to one of their rooms I didn't leave loving. also get the escape room passport, they will stamp their rooms for you! and then you can document all the rooms you have done!! enjoy it! read more

Super impressed with MindTrap Escape room!! They really went above and beyond to make my daughter's birthday special! From the cleanliness of their business during coronavirus, to the awesome customer service and the FUN, challenging room itself!! We had 2 adults, a teenager and two 10 year olds and it was great for all of us. Was an absolute blast!! We will definitely be back to try their other rooms. I want to really thank the owners for getting us in last minute into the Excalibur room for my daughter who was worried about the Operation Nightwalker room being too scary. Conspiracy was my 38th room. Loved this place! The room was very well put together, design was immersive, and the puzzles were creative. Great use of technology as well, and their hint system was something I had never seen before but fit super well with the theme of the room. Our group of 4 experienced players used one hint and escaped with 19m left. Also AJ and Stephanie were great hosts. We will definitely be back for Gold Rush! read more

By the time I played these rooms I was at about 40 Escape Games and I can definitely say they've got amazing rooms! I'm not one to care about breaking time records or anything like that. The main team I work with, we also don't like to brute force locks as we want to solve the puzzles in the way they were designed. That being said, the fun for us comes from the atmosphere, immersion, and puzzle solving. Gold Rush blew us away with the decor and puzzles. Everything fit the theme, and didn't put anachronistic locks in the room. No spoilers, but the room just looks incredible... and they hit your other senses too! Conspiracy was well put together too, and had creative puzzles. Everything needs teamwork for both rooms, but I'm not sure what the smallest group you can successfully complete the room would be. Customer service is great too! Again, the set designs in both are fantastic, yet dramatically different. Highly recommended and objectively the best games in Temecula. read more

My husband and I had a blast! We did the conspiracy room. It was challenging but not too difficult for two newbies. This was our first escape room and we are now hooked. We kept busy the entire time we were in the room. The staff was super friendly and energetic. I was able to tell she enjoyed her job. She was waiting for us in the lobby when we arrived and she greeted us with a smile. When we first arrived we got to test our thought process with some lock boxes. When we opened them we were rewarded with a nice selection of snacks. I thought that was a nice touch. We watched a video before we went in. I was worried that I would need outside knowledge to complete the room but I totally didn't. It was so much fun and I can't wait to be back. Two of my friends and I played both rooms and loved each. One had seven rooms under her belt and the other had two. This was my fifth and sixth room, and we finished Gold Rush with ~25 minutes left with one clue and Conspiracy with 11 minutes and three clues. Gold Rush really is the best designed room in Temecula valley, but Conspiracy is the most fun in my book. Both have a mix of challenging and simpler puzzles, well immersive rooms, and fantastic stories. I highly recommend these rooms for all players. read more
