Located near some other unique gift shops and a spiritual wellness shop, this location specializes in local art and craft goods from the NC area that make for a unique assortment of gifts. The owner welcomed us and was friendly, offering to answer any questions we may have. For the most part I perused the shop and read some of the small placards sharing more information on the artist/creator and their work. I like that these were present near the artist/creator's work as it was fun to read more about them and their inspirations. Prices were a broad range to suit all budgets. While nothing caught my eye, I would consider coming back here if I was shopping for a unique gift.

My son had a long conversation with one employee about his military service and it was genuine. I appreciate their investment in the customers and this community. You can find high end USA cook wear, premium loose tea, local branded home decor, great gift ideas, Benchmade knives, some clothing, kids toys, it really has something for everyone. It may seem like it's a woman's store, but I guarantee your man will find something cool. You can even order hot tea or get an espresso drink there! In business for ten months (if I remember details correctly), Red has a great thing going on, and I hope to visit and make some purchases again. The shop is cozy and not overflowing with a disorganized mess of toys, despite the fact he could probably squeeze more product in there. There are several display cases with some of my favorite toy lines, such as Exo-Squad, Masters of the Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so much more, with tons of great toys and action figures from the 1980s through today, and likely with some older vintage toys as well. He's got eclectic lines such as Germs (1988). There are packaged figures and loose figures bagged up, GI Joe, Star Wars, Marvel Legends, DC Superheroes, and so much more, to varying degrees of completeness. From what I could tell, prices are reasonable and competitive. Red has got video games and systems too. VHS! There are some good dollar comic books, which I partook in while also finding a fun LEGO insert catalog I missed out on during my "dark ages." There's a little free box where I got my Wizard of Oz-loving friend a great little Tin Man. I wanted to dig out one or two more things, but didn't want to be greedy, but there is some great stuff in there! I also witnessed Red being super awesome with a father and his young kid, finding some Captain America items to make that kid's day! That's some great service from someone who not only loves having this store, but also loves the sense of joy and wonder he can create within the community of collectors and players young and old. Heck, I called on a Tuesday (one of his closed days) and he answered to let me know his hours for the week--customer service can't exceed that quality! If you make it to the Charlotte, NC area, be sure to stop by Red Genesis, and consider dropping some green.

And, while I definitely don't purchase something every time I drop by, I always fall in love with some new creation of hers. Antique zodiac pendant necklaces, stunning vintage glass earrings, sweet rhinestone wrap bracelets, amazing cuffs and so much more. She does a fab job of posting new creations on her website and Facebook page, too. I've also noticed that she's added more to the $30-$70 range in the store - which I (and I'm sure my husband) really appreciate. The store is located on East Blvd above IC London and Sloan, and is such a cute space chock-full of treasures. I recently stopped in during Yelp's Fabulous Frocking Tour and purchased a pair of STUNNING yellow emerald cut studs. I will wear these constantly. And at only $78 (plus the 25% off discount from the tour), they were a steal. Laura even came up with the ingenious idea to have "wish lists" in store so ladies can go in and pick out items they like, then send in their significant other to pick from the list. This takes the guess work out of buying jewelry, which is uber-helpful to those guys who know nothing about doing that. Prices range from around $50 for a pair of studs to $250 for more intricate pieces. Head on in and check it out for yourself - and be sure to put together that wish list - Christmas is just around the corner!

She changes her inventory on a regular basis so it is a great place to find "unique" items. She has some items shipped to her from everywhere, even China!! She is VERY reasonably priced.
