I rarely give this low of a review I was debating whether to give it a one-star or a two-star because of what my boyfriend experienced. He ordered a sandwich with some stale bread and a beef with no hot peppers. So naturally he went back in to complain. They did not replace the sandwich give him a sausage for the trouble and whoever is there also stated that the bread is stakel and that they don't have any more bread. If you knew that the bread was still why would you still serve it to people?!!! It's really disappointing because I see good reviews for this place and then this is what we experience. read more

This is a deli/italian pantry and fresh market in one. There are enough pantry and deli staples and bakery items if you are in the area. I came for a lunch sandwich. the only menu is the old board above which has some scrambled writing accompanied by addt'l pieces of paper with instructions. I guess you can order anything from the deli? But The angry lady behind the counter had about two seconds of patience so i was scared to ask. I just ordered the Italian sub. It was ok. it was one of those dense ones- rather dry and needed some dressing. I had 3 bakery cookies as well - super sugary Italian cookies. the staff seems too busy for customers. I walked in on a whim while waiting for my PT to start down the hall. I was greeted as soon as I entered and they asked how they could help me. I said i was considering buying one cookie but realized I didn't have cash on me for such a small amount. Turns out, they accept credit (albeit with a small 3.5% charge which is fine with me for the convenience ). I bought two small cookies. One butter with sprinkles and it was what I expected. Not too sweet. A little crunch but mostly soft and slight crumble but mostly buttery in a good way not overly so. The other was a twist which was also not too sweet but less of a crunch. Went there earlier today to get some cold and hot foods for my partner and I. We love their prosciutto panini and also their regular sliced prosciutto. The cold sub was already prepared near the cold foods area for only $4! Cannoli's were delicious and were $2 each. We bought their premade pizza dough for $2.5 and made some delicious pizza at home and topped it with the prosciutto. The service was great! They're usually busy so some people tend to call their orders in early. There are seating areas in the front if you want to stay and enjoy your meal. read more

I have had good experiences with Minelli's, but not my last two visits. I was not happy with my sandwich. I love a good rare roast beef sandwich. The meats were already pre-sliced & in baggies. They do not taste fresh. The bread is hit or miss as well. I will not be going back. read more

I get an envelop full of coupons from local businesses in the mail periodically and I've always been tempted to go to Minelli's but had never been. I finally had to put my foot down after seeing the reviews and pics on Yelp. So one Saturday, I pulled into the huge parking lot (it's next to a Jewel and the newest D'Agostinos) and walked in. Wow!! I felt like I was in Little Italy by UIC or on Northwest Highway (Edison Park) but wait - I'm actually here on Oakton - in Niles. Friendly service and we were told that their Italian sub is their best seller. Duh, I should of figured that out on my own. Well it turned out to be a great sandwich and the overall friendly vibe was very much appreciated. I felt like paisan for a brief moment. The cannolis were immediately consumed in the car - before eating the sandwich. I've got a sweet tooth and that's how I roll. I probably drove by thousands of times and didn't even know it existed. Minelli carries different groceries, fresh meats & deli, and frozen homemade Italian favorite dishes not to mention homemade sweets and desserts. The gentleman behind the deli counter must have sensed my "first-timer-ness" look at the sandwich menu and came to the rescue. The Italian sandwich I ordered was deliciously made with fresh bread & deli meats. All customers seem to be regulars and every staff I encountered was very friendly and helpful. The food and the deli are excellent quality and fairly priced considering inflation. Still one of the best and most consistent Italian Markets anywhere. My Mom used to buy their sausage from the old Milwaukee location when I was a kid. Then she shopped here at Oak Mill Mall up until she passed away. I still come here for my sausage, ground veal and ground sirloin. I think of my mom every time I walk in. I'm thankful they kept and carried on the traditions from Milwaukee Ave. They continue to make their parents and relatives proud by their consistent high quality. Minelli Brother Italian Specialties is located in Oak Mill Mall. Oak Mill Mall is on the SW corner of Milwaukee Avenue & Oakton. I literally have driven by this mall thousands of times (no exaggeration) over the years. It's right across the street from Jerry's Fruit Market which I go to weekly for almost all of my produce & some of my meats & chicken. Oak Mill Mall is like one of those malls that are there, but very few people seem to go in. I was taking to a guy at the gym. He told me about Minelli Brothers. It seems like that's all people talk about at the gym, places to eat. lol. Anyhow I digress as usual. Minelli Brother has an assortment of Italian goods. They also have a great deli with an assortment of meats, cheeses, salads, olives, pizza slices, sandwiches.....They also have a few freezer cases with prepared Italian meals if you run out of time or want a quick simple meal Minnelli's has that too. I went there to grab a sandwich. They have some great prices. I got an 8" hot turkey sandwich w/juice, provolone & giardiniera peppers for $6.50, absolutely delicious. Steaming piles of hot juicy turkey over provolone cheese w/giardiniera peppers on Italian bread. I though I'll eat half now and half later HA that sandwich didn't stand a chance as I quickly devoured it bite after bite. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Lovely little shop that we got to visit while on vacation. The woman at the counter was very kind to our children and even offered them a sample cookie, such a small thing and our kids said no thank you but it was very sweet of the woman to offer and we really appreciated how welcoming she was to us "outsiders". Minelli checks all of the boxes for an old-school deli, with a few extras. I sometimes get coupons in the mail and decided to check them out a while back for two dollars off a footlong sub. The italian sub was good, but could have used a zippier salami or some pepperoni. Also, the bread was a little dry; since this was a Sunday, I wonder whether they were using Saturday's bread. I stopped back another time to look for andouille sausage, but they didn't have any. I wanted to get some italian sausage to take home, but noticed that they sell a sandwich for only $4.50. Let me tell you, that is a heck of a big sammich, and delicious, for such a bargain price (50 cents more for cheese or peppers). You can get mild or medium, with sweet or hot peppers, with or without marinara sauce. I recently got a different coupon for buy one, get one free...which I put to good use. What a deal. They also sell pizza by the slice, which is fine if you happen to catch a slice that has not been sitting in the warmer for too long. So that's a crapshoot, but at least the option is there. read more

We stopped in here for some lunch, and enjoyed a couple of sandwiches and a pizza slice. We ate in the pleasant Oak Mill mall dining area right outside of the store. Great value and top notch quality on the offerings here. We had a 7" Italian beef sandwich ($5.50), a meatball sandwich ($5.50), and a cheese pizza slice ($3.00). The mall was very pleasant being clean, sunny, and quiet and in fact a secret lunch hangout place that I'm not sure I really want too many to know about. Lunch here is like having a nice picnic with indoor amenities, and we'll be back again sometime for sure. read more

I've been coming to this store for 20+ years and can't find a better Italian sausage than there's. The beef and pork roast's have brought tear's to my family's eye when we get together during the holidays. I now travel 15 miles each way to fill up my freezer in anticipation of a new grilling season. I have never had such poor customer service my entire life! I recently made a phone order with a female employee for chicken breasts for pickup. She wrote in large print all relevant specifics of my order in a note to the meat department which was attached to the bag of chicken breasts I picked up. After arriving home, my wife was preparing to freeze the chicken breasts when she discovered we received less meat than we ordered and paid for. I called their store and spoke to a man who was very sarcastic, refused to identify himself, and even used foul language after I explained what happened. I offered to bring back our order for them to add chicken to the approximate weight we ordered. He refused my coming back to the store and said they gave us what was available and that we can cut and divide the chicken as we wanted to which would still leave us with less than we ordered and paid for! He also had the gall to say we should order our meat in the future somewhere else and to not do any business with them anymore which we could not believe since it was their fault they shorted us in our order. He sarcastically said "Have a nice day" and hung up on me! This was totally unacceptable inexcusable and unprofessional behavior exhibited by a Minelli's employee which no one should ever have to deal with! read more

Minelli's is a great old school Italian deli. This is a great place to grab lunch of stock up on some items to make at home for dinner. It is awkwardly located in the Oak Mill Mall. This mall has been around forever, but I have no idea how such a large property hasn't been repurposed into something that draws more crowds. There is one reason to go to this mall and it is Minellis! They offer all kinds of Italian delights from sandwiches to freshly made pastas. The sandwiches here are awesome! They slice the meat to order and pile it high on fresh bread. The veggies, cheese and dressing all work perfectly together to deliver a solid Italian delight! The large pieces of lettuce and thick cut tomatoes make this a very filling sandwich. A small sub is about $5 and measures in at a little over 6". The pizza slices to go are very good and if you're lucky you can grab a slice of their supreme thin crust. Their fully stocked deli offers a solid variety of Italian meats, sausages and salads. The grocery part of the store has a myriad of imported Italian goods. I enjoy the sauces and take home pastas which are cheap and delicious. read more

After seeing this here on Yelp, It's been a bookmark for a while. The address here is wrong, it's up the street in the mall at the SW corner of Oakton and Milwaukee. This is not a restaurant, but they do make lunches and you can swing in and get a variety of sandwiches made. I tried the Italian Sausage (mild) with peppers and some red sauce. I don't get a chance to have this anymore as my wife is not much of a fan of Brats, Italian Sausages, etc., and wow, I wasn't disappointed. Lots of great things in their freezers for meals ready to heat from Lasagnas, Ravioli the whole spread is there. They have a great looking meat case too, I'm definitely going to need to go back more for some steaks and the like. Very friendly folks and a nice old school Italian feel. I'm sold. read more

Minnelli's is the best! I got here two minutes before they closed but since I called ahead, they were gracious and welcoming. After I paid, two more people came in to shop. They were warmly greeted. These are decent people! The food!! Their homemade meatballs are soooo scrumptious and I don't have to make them any more. Len recommended some jarred peppers and onions. I wasn't so sure but bought them. Fantastic! Delectable! Tasty! Buy them! Three freshly made cannolis caught my eye. How could I say no? One bite and I saw the heavens.
