So glad to have such a quality butcher in the neighborhood! It's cash or check only, FYI. Also upon first impression, VERY clean. Family owned and like many others have stated, they treat you like family. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by a butcher who was more than helpful and kind. My husband and I are on a new health journey so I've often times asked MANY questions and he was patient and helpful with every answer. Even with him knowing I didn't have cash and had to leave and come back. Needed some quality burgers and brats for a friend's grilling birthday bash. Picked up beer brats upon recommendation (and a crowd favorite), Mediterranean turkey burgers (super good and I enjoyed them more than my husband did if I'm to be honest), prime rib burgers (currently vacuum sealed in the freezer), skin on hot dogs (best ever), cheddar and jalapeño burger (another fave!), and maybe a couple others I can't recall. Everything so far- fresh and from what I've frozen, has been delicious. We typically shop at Paulina Market so it's been wonderful to find a shop closer at the same level (in our opinion). It is pricey as some have stated but you're paying for what you get. They have an amazing selection of prepared foods as well. Worth stopping in for! Can't wait to restock. read more

Stopped in to pick up a roast and my experience was good. Prices aren't bad, but they only take cash or check. I have written about three checks in the last 20 years but I also rarely carry cash, so it's not a place I'll get to often. But the staff were friendly and I would return if I had cash in hand. Can't say enough good things about this place. I called at 4pm after their closing hours and they answered the phone. I needed an emergency 5pound trimmed beef tenderloin for a beef Wellington the next day! These guys said don't worry about it and said regardless of their hours offered to cut and trim the 5pound tenderloin for me right then! They even went out of the way to wrap and tie up! Called and sure it was busy at 8:30am, but I tried again at 8:45 and was able to place my order with a pleasant gentleman who took my order for a NYS and a couple chicken breasts plus 3# of ground chuck. It really is easy to order what you want, the only hiccup is there are no prices on their menu online. It's not something I will ordered everyday, but it's the holiday and I need to have some meat to cook on Monday. Pickup time for me is 11-11:30! So I can get on with my day. This is better to know this meat shop exists nearby and I don't have to travel to my favorite meat market in Liberty, Indiana to get steak. HUGE selection of frozen soups, meals, meats and delicious deli salads. We got the salmon kabobs (amazing) along with pork and chicken. Grilled one London Broil (yum) and this spicy creamy pasta salad (so good) and a quinoa basil tomato salad. Everything was outstanding and we have been back twice since. This place is the best! I needed 18 chickens (yes 18!) of similar weight and size for a rotisserie bbq event. I requested and happily received exactly what I needed. The quality of the chickens was wonderful. The staff is very friendly and the store has a wonderful vibe. These folks are serious about great food. I can't give this business any stars because I couldn't complete my purchase. I was excited to find a new neighborhood meat market and pleased to see so many frozen prepared options. My arms were full of frozen goodies and when I went to get a number to purchase some fresh meat, I noticed the sign that said "cash and checks only". Having left home w only my drivers license and debit card, I very unhappily put my items back and left. Really, cash only? I found DAM last year and have yet to have 1 thing from them that I didn't like. Quality meats and great service. We ordered a standing rib roast for Christmas last year and it was one of the best cuts I've ever worked with. I get their tenderloin filets all of the time. They even have a nice deli selection. Just remember to bring cash and be patient if you have to wait during peak seasons! read more

We drive almost 15 miles, round trip, to come here. There are closer butchers, but these guys and gals are the best. Steaks, burgers, brats, twice-baked potatoes, chicken nuggets. The food is top-notch and so is the staff. read more

We just had prime rib roast that I picked up yesterday from DAM. Our family gets a full roast every year for Christmas. We've gotten them from other butchers the past 10 years or so and I finally decided to try DAM this year after getting some great steaks from them this past summer. OMG! The roast was by far the best we've ever had period. Nothing else over the years even came close to the quality of the meat, the tenderness, and the flavor. Absolutely incredible. We've never had anything even approaching the tenderness of the roast they gave us. On top of that, even though they were swamped when I picked up the meat, the staff couldn't have been more friendly and professional. They were awesome. Full Disclosure - I did go to Grade School with one of the owners, however I am 33... They just have fresh stuff no question and great prices. Yes its cash / check only, but they are knowledgeable and I find their meat quality to be Whole Foods or better for not close to cost. Especially their chicken - tends to be smaller, of better quality, super tasty. I have been coming to Devon Ave Meats since it was in Morningfields before the remodel. I love the new location - the store within a store concept at Morningfield's was kind of depressing. I have ordered many different cuts of meat from here. The standouts have been the pork shoulder, strip steaks and kabobs. They can usually source anything I ask for within 24 hours (or in stock already). The owner, Vince, is very helpful and seems like a great guy! They should have a loyalty club to get discounts on meat. I lot of people (myself included) go to Schmissers for sausages and burgers. Could keep customers buying more in your shop! read more

Unsanitary and unprofessional. It's common to see their "butchers" handling raw meat, raw fish, touching the register, and touching other objects without ever washing their hands inbetween. Last time I was there, I saw the counter person grabbing hamburger meat with his bare hand and wrapping it up and immediately touching tuna labeled "sashimi" without washing his hands. Sashimi is meant to be eaten raw which means whoever would buy that sashimi tuna would have had bacteria from raw hamburger meat on it as well. This could kill someone. read more

Let's start with the exterior and store itself. From the outside, it looks very questionable. With it's signs and layout you wonder if it's even worth going in. They have a bunch of frozen items that don't really look too appealing, just plain old food that you can nuke. Only thing ok would maybe be chicken nuggets, but that's very standard. Their variety of meats is "ok", nothing too fancy and the price is average. I wouldn't call this a butcher or a meat shop. More like a dead grocery store that kept it's meat section open. I don't really think they are sanitary and plus when I ordered my meat, the worker touched the meat and packed everything, then rang it up and gave me my change, WITH the gloves still on. gross nothx read more

Absolutely best meat market around! Wide selection, and the prices are extremely reasonable for the high quality. Steaks are outstanding.....and of course if you want a burger, get a "choppie"!. Plenty of fish selections and even solid veal dogs or veal brats. I could go on and on what to get there. Why would anyone go to a grocery store for meat when this place is around??!! I purchased several ground chuck packages about a month and a half ago from the owner, Vince, who was sarcastic and had the nerve to say "We lose money" on the low ground chuck price. I can't see why, the ground chuck is pink, not red, because of a lot of fat and grease that was is in the meat and the hamburgers we cooked and ate last night. Also, the burgers were of too firm a texture and lacked good taste. My wife said at least 25% of the meat she cooked for the burgers was pure fat/grease! One previous attempt at cooking burgers from their meat was not much better. When I purchased the meat, Vince assured me the ground chuck was 85% lean which obviously was not the case! I can see why he offered the ground chuck at a low price. We are so disappointed and would never buy any more meat from them if they were the last butcher shop in the world! read more

I've been buying all of my meat at Devon Ave Meats for 5-years. Frankie has been doing prepared meals since they moved across the parking lot. I asked Vince if they were going to start catering and he said he hadn't thought about it. Well, I pretty much insisted that he cater my son's birthday party/block party. Wow! The salads were awesome, the chicken was tender and plump, the ravioli was incredible. If you're a foodie, you know what I mean when I say the food tastes good and then you get that secondary taste in your mouth!! I've never had ravioli that good!
