I had an interaction with a conductor named Mike yesterday 4/23 who went above & beyond with his kindness. & I don't want it to go unnoticed. My train was scheduled to leave from Mineola to long beach at 4:57. So at that exact time when the train came, i got on thinking nothing of it; until I saw that it said the train was stopping Wyndanch- which was the complete opposite of where I was supposed to go. It turns out that my original train was running late- & the train that I got on was the train that was supposed to leave before mine. I was just planning to have my whole day ruined and stay on that train that wasn't supposed to be stopping for another hour... But this wasn't the case , thanks to Mike's kindness. He literally went up to whoever controls the train & had them make a stop for me at Bethpage. I didn't even have to wait five minutes for my next train to come that brought me to my correct destination.... quite literally an angel who saved my day. Thank you so much, Mike. This may seem small but it meant the absolute world to me. The world needs more Mikes!!! read more

It's a busy line (when there's not a strike going on) and have used it many times. There is a bus terminal right outside the station for Nassau buses. There is multi level parking which I'm not sure if you have to pay as I always take the bus. There are many restaurants within walking distance if you want to grab a bite while waiting for your train. read more

Took the Long Island Railroad into the city. Total cost was $13 for a peak ticket from Mineola Station to Penn Station NYC. Super easy and affordable. The Conductor, or train attendant, was friendly and walked me through the process and confirmed I was on the right train and doing everything correctly. Pretty cool station, this is Nassau County of Long Island , There a waiting Room on the New York city Bound Train Platform side , And there a Hospital -NYU Lagone Long Island as well near this Train station , And there major connection to the Mineola Intermodal center :N15,N22,N23,N24,N40,N41 and there soda /snack machine as well , And walk way stairway that leads to the East Point Platform and N.Y.C bound platform which upstairs on top of the platform , which gives you a beatiful view of Long Island !!!!! read more

Mineola train station has gone through many makeovers since 1837, the latest started sometime in 2018. When I am in Garden City, I usually travel from Mineola Station to New York City (NYC). There are better timetable options for traveling to NYC. But during rush hour, be prepared to stand and closely with other passengers. There are two side platforms and three tracks that accommodate twelve cars. The middle express track allows trains to skirt the station; safer for passengers standing by the platform waiting for their train. Mineola Station has a sizable eastbound and westbound platform with a covered overhead bridge to cross the tracks. But if its raining, be sure to have an umbrella. The train station has a ticket office usually with friendly staff members. There is also plenty of parking available by the station. read more

I like this station, it's always clean .. the garbage cans are super clean ( nothing on top of it or it's not full)... it shows that they change the bags very often which is so good. Thanks! After a full day of a windy beatdown, the sight of a double available seat on the LIRRs double decker train was most welcome. The full day included a few brews, so within this pseudo self enclosed section of the car, I plopped myself into the well padded seat, absorbing the fresh feel of air conditioning. alAdditionally there was a bathroom close by and kept in very clean condition and thats always a welcome addition to any public ride. We placed our golf bags in a open area against a wall, the smoothness of the ride didn't disturb the equipment or the passengers. Using the LIRR Railroad app was super easy as your ticket is just a few clicks and a swipe away from completion. The ride time from Mineola to Jamacia seemed to pass with incredible ease and at under nine bucks it was a great deal. read more

This station is about 35 minutes from pennstation. I took the train where I did not have to transfer to get off here. The station is outside and I noticed a bus depot near by so that's helpful if you need to get somewhere. The location also had taxi cabs and the juror is still out because the cabs were I guess out of service at that moment. There's a restaurant across the street if your hungry and a few banks if you need money. During the 5:00 hour there are a lot of people in the vicinity at the 11 :00 PM there were less people but not a creepy feel. There were enough people to feel comfortable. Purchase your ticket a head a time do the want to have to pay the up charge for getting it on the train. If your getting the ticket on the train you have to have cash as they don't take credit cards. read more

Yuck. My dislike for the LIRR in general keeps me from rating stations any higher. I take the train whenever there is bad weather as my commute is a long drive every day and in this winter 2014, we've had incredibly bad weather. With that said, the Mineola train station is a bigger station, and more lines run through it which is nice, however, the station house on the east bound side of tracks is deplorable. Often times I see bottles of alcohol strewn on the benches and floor and other contraband. Also, in this cold weather it only protects you from the wind, it is still freezing in there. The Mineola Train Station has also switched my trains tracks on me without mentioning it on the display board, leaving me to run across the tracks through the overhead passageway. This is dangerous because it is wet and therefore icy. Every LIRR station needs a clock. Just one clock in each station house and one outdoors in the tracks. Maybe even put it on the display board. How hard is that to ask. Yes, I own a phone but I am not whipping it out every two minutes to do the math on how late my train is going to be. Get it together LIRR. read more

First of all, this train station is the same exact way it was when I first started taking the train to LI about 18 years ago, and still I love it. Second of all, there are no human people running the place but lots of machines. Third of all and lastly, the amount of nearby restaurants has rapidly increased. read more

Drop off and pick-up are painfully excruciating even after all the work the village did to clean up the station. Be extremely careful how you drive in, where you stop, and people coming in and out of your car. read more

Mineola is my gateway to the world. Living on Long Island it's the simplest way to get into Manhattan. Short of living on the Port Washington line Mineola station has the best selection of trains to choose from. The public parking garage adjacent to the station is also a big plus! Good, can you see O'Carroll's Recovery Room? Yes. Even better, do you have a drinking problem? Yes or no, it doesn't matter I'm not your keeper, but my suggestion would be to go to O'Carroll's and wait in one of the best pubs found anywhere! read more

Nice clean station 20 minutes away from NYC. Municipal parking is right across the street from the station and the trains run relatively on time. For those who may not know, platform A is designated for points west and platform B is designated for points east. The only reason I give it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because you have to pay for parking. read more

This is a MAJOR STOP on the LIRR. Serves thousands of people a day. It is also The most POORLY PLANNED train station parking lot on all of Long Island !! There is literally nowhere to pick up someone that gets off the train! The Taxis (driven by a**holes) take up most of the one side. And the other side of the station has no room either -- and the station buildings are too small as well. The "waiting" room on the Taxi side will smell like a Urine Analysis Clinic that has no air ducts -- as well as some dirtbag in there eating greasy Chinese food out of a white styrofoam container while wearing no shoes and has some bloody foot disease -- so plug up your nose with some dental sponges if ya go inside! This is one of the busiest stations on Long Island! Someone really screwed up in 1947 ! HELPFUL HINT: If you are picking someone up from here HAVE THEM WALK STRAIGHT DOWN THE BLOCK to the traffic light next to the bar and wait there . Then you can pull over where there is at least is some room on the street and AVOID this SHITTY ill-conceived train station ! What a mess. OR Pick up your party from the Carle Place station (same zone/ same price ticket) 1 or 2 minutes away. read more

Mineola gives Lawn G'Island a little taste of Manhattan. It has its cute version of a bodega, a busker playing guitar, it even imitates the grimy homeless vibe of many of New York's subway stations. And yet, looking at Winthrop Hospital or taking in the tall parking garages or even watching some wasted gym teacher stumble out of the Recovery Room on a Saturday morning, I think to myself, "I am on Long Island." The up-side: Multiple LIRR lines run through Mineola, meaning less time at Penn Station and lower chances of having to change at Jamaica. The down-side (and an outright scam, in my opinion): While the parking in the Intermodal Transit Center is convenient, BEWARE... you MUST park head-in, even though there are no prominent signs anywhere in the garage telling motorists to park head-in. The only place this rule is posted is at the entrance, as an item buried within a long list of rules-and-regs (in relatively small type) on a sign that is to the side of the entrance (and out of the motorist's direct line of sight), making it practically unreadable as you navigate your way up the entrance ramp. Your penalty for not being so observant as to see the small type on an out-of-the way signboard? $15. There's no way for people who are not from Mineola to reasonably be expected to know this rule. The MTA and the garage operators should be ashamed of themselves for not posting adequate signage throughout the garage, thereby operating what is essentially the parking equivalent of a speed trap. read more

This is the best station because this station has the most frequent trains and you do not have to transfer at Jamaica. However, the parking is terrible! So prepare to be driving around for a while because all the city workers park their and leave their cars there for hours which is so annoying. It is $6 to park there for the day. This station is across from the hospital where my sister works, so it is very convenient when she drops me off here in the evening as she goes to work after visiting her over the weekend. The service here is great as the Oyster Bay, Ronkonkoma, and Huntington lines all stop at this station. Also, from this point you are only about 30 mins from the city! There is plenty of parking as well as a major bus hub at the station. Also, there is a bar right in the parking lot if you want to knock back a few while waiting for your train! read more

If you're asking me to review the station itself this gets brutal --- parking is minimal even since they build a multi-level garage, platforms to cross over from the East to the West side of the platform are not plentiful nor varied in their locations (nor are they wide enough to handle the rush hour crowd), the cab area is a hot mess and the ticket office smells like the undercarriage of a porta-potty. There are very few electric outlets to plug in your phone for a quick charge. The Mineola station is a major intersection for the LIRR and you might think that based on that alone they would make this station something to rely on. Not so much. The main staircase that most people use has been a "temporary" one for more than a decade. The curbside drop-off area is narrow and is an accident waiting to happen. The Eastbound track runs parallel with the bus depot so there is a large sidewalk that seems like wasted space between the buses and the LIRR platform. They've done nothing the spruce up the area in between. For what the LIRR charges per month they should have a higher standard. There are NYC subway stations with more charm than this dungeon has. read more

I wish there were more seats outside but they do have a nice waiting area for the train. Make sure you take the A platform to get to NYC. Very close to court buildings, there's a nice Italian restaurant nearby & easy enough to get to. Also a more popular station with people around & some scenery. No complaints here. read more

This is a major and busy train stop! there are frequent trains that come in and out of here. there is a restaurant/bar across the street on the manhattan side and small lil coffee stand. if you need to get to the city quick you can trek here and be in manhattan in 35 minutes. read more

Looking to go to the City or out East - fastest train around with frequent departures! There is a bar, taxi service and deli all right there at the station. Plus on the South side of tracks there is a parking structure where you can park for as long as you like. It is reasonable - just pay at the machine - easy as 1-2-3! Takes credit cards! read more

Definitely one of my preferred train stations on the LIRR. There are waiting rooms on both sides of the tracks (though the one on the station proper side is MUCH nicer), there's a newsstand built into the waiting area, and the Station Diner is open across the street in the mornings and afternoons. There's not really anything here unfortunately, given that it's actually quite a centrally located station on several lines. There are a few places to get some quick grub while you wait for the train on the West bound side of the street, so give them a look. Safe enough, doesn't look like there's any parking, but it IS commuter friendly with benches and buses. read more

Good station. One thing I do have to say is that if you want to get on the train to Patchogue, make sure you get on THAT SPECIFIC train at Jamaica, because it will leave really quickly and from Jamaica to Mineola it will only run once a day. I used the Patchogue bound train from Jamaica to Mineola because it was the fastest commute for me. If you're like me and you have a car waiting for you at the correct side of the Mineola station itself, it can be very convenient to go straight from the train to your car, almost like door to door. I don't use the LIRR often, but when I do use it I usually wind up using this station. It's quick and efficient. read more
