The driver refused to use the microphone and he barely talked on the tour. When he did speak we couldn't hear him. At one of our first stops, we asked the driver why he wasn't using the built in microphone. He told me it didn't work. I then asked how long was it not working. He then replied it never worked. I called the company and was told a completely different story. Regardless, the driver put no effort to even try to use it or call the company for help. That is not even the half of the poor experience. I called the company at one or our next stops and he wanted to talk to the driver. I don't know what they spoke about, but nothing changed. About 3/4 of the tour, I called the company to explain about our dissatisfaction and to seek a resolution. The owner agreed the driver should be using the microphone. He offered to discount the tour by 50%. I agreed to the offer and felt that was an appropriate compensation. 2 hours after the trip ended, we received the receipt for the full price. I tried to call the owner 3 times the next day with no answer. On the second day, I was able to reach the owner to confirm the agreement we made. The owner then told me that we were satisfied with the service he wasn't going to discount the tour. Before I could discuss the issues with him any further, he hung up on me. When I tried to call him again 2 times he didn't answer. In addition, the van was unclean with old food, the seatbelt were broken and the back seat itself came loose. In summary. The driver lied to me. Our experience was very poor. Worst of all, the owner refused to honor our verbal agreement and charged us in full. A verbal agreement is a legal agreement and this company is just plain bad. I recommend you go with another company. This company is unprofessional.

It is something different to do in the area and good for all ages. I was expecting the seats and train cars to be very uncomfortable, but we had enough room to spread out and the seats were mostly comfortable. The windows open or close to your preference if you aren't in an open air car. We brought a foldable stroller that we had no problem putting under the seats or by the door of the train. I know we passed through historical areas and there is info being shared about what you're seeing, but we could not hear anything over the speaker on the train so it was mostly just a slow, hot scenic train ride where we didn't know what we were seeing really. It lulled both of my kids and husband to sleep on the way back. The Keystone depot is much smaller than Hill city but has bathrooms and a small gift shop and is right in the heart of downtown which makes walking somewhere quick and easy. We wish we would have taken the train right back from Hill city instead of having a three hour break there. The rules about food on the train are a little confusing. The website when you bought tickets said no outside food that you didn't buy there but then when I got there, there were signs that said food is welcome on the train. They did sell popcorn and candy and drinks on the train which we did not purchase. My kids had a few snacks that we brought while on the train and there was nobody there to monitor it or say anything. Again, our kids enjoyed it (although got a little bored toward the end) and it was a nice break from the area parks and active activities, but I don't think it's something we would repeat if we were in the area.

We had put in our request not to be parked so close to everyone else- the park is not very full so they accommodated us by letting us stay any very last spot near the mountains, which was absolutely beautiful (site 320) What was also amazing is that they had lowered their price after we had booked online and when we checked in, without prompting, they only billed us for the new lower rate, that's almost unheard of these days! Really appreciate the authenticity and honesty Laundry facilities worked great- they have quarters if you need too. They will give you maps of all of the sites in the area, but you are about 20 minutes from Mount Rushmore, another 20 more minutes to get to crazy horse and don't forget to do the wildlife loop through Custer State Park
