asked waiter for salad with no tomatoes or olives -- had both after waited 20 min for salad then everything came at once. looked for person for a refill. ordered a baked potato and was informed that when meal came out there was none said twice to put onions and mushrooms on steak and came with none. ordered onion rings to replace my baked potato and came out under cooked almost still frozen. I could understand if it was busy in there but there was only 4 tables there and waiter was to busy talking to friends. have not at here for years and now i know why....... read more

The cook has no idea about how to cook something as simple as a grilled cheese sandwich. The pasta is always overcooked. The wait staff is hit or miss. The girls are always good. The boys are always busy giving each other reach arounds. This is a great restaurant if you are only partially out of the closet. read more

The daytime waitress was the rudest I have encountered in a long time. The food was a 3 of 10, but the vegetables were frozen slop, and the chicken seemed frostbitten. Yuk. Plenty of much better places to eat in town. read more

Nice place to eat, but I don't get out there very often. Food is usually very, very good, and the service is great.

Delightfully delicious dinner. We had the Oktoberfest pork chops with sauerkraut and a raisin sauce. Perfectly cooked, expertly seasoned. Sauerkraut was a bit salty. Mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts served on the side. Both were very tasty. The crème brulee dessert was creamy and delicious. It was served with fresh berries. Breakfast was also good. The pancakes are unexpectedly large. The oatmeal was delicious. Service at both meals was attentive and very friendly. We would eat here again the next time we come to Watertown. read more

Came here for lunch on a work trip. The food was great. I had the blackened salmon salad. The only thing that made it 4stars is the wait. Not a lot of people in here and I waited for a while for someone to even show up at the front to seat me. Understaffed maybe? Either way that needs to be addressed. I only have an hour for lunch and it took 15 min to be seated. But at least the salad was phenomenal. read more

I called for a takeout order. When I arrived I was told they no longer had the item I ordered on their menu. So I ordered the same as my wife had. The Blackened steak tips. I got our food and went home. When I opened the cartons one order was perfect. The second order had been sitting in the plastic container for a very long time. The steak tips fries out and cold. The salad and onion strings in the cartons were soggy, the salad looked like stewed spinach. I don't even want to tell you about the fiasco of trying to pay for the food. They did take off the price of one order of steak tops at the register. That didn't replace the sorry excuse for a meal that didn't need to happen if they 1. Would have told me they didn't have what I wanted anymore or 2. Made the first order over so it would have been in acceptable condition. The staff are very nice, just not well trained. read more

I only seem to find myself at Minervas when they are having some kind of special brunch or buffet. But that's perfectly fine because after several brunches and holiday buffets I can say I am a fan. Minervas is not the least expensive place in the area but the quality of food exceeds the average as well. I suppose one could call Minervas "small town South Dakota fine dining". Staff are usually friendly and polite and I have never once had anything but a clean and pleasant dining experience. I am not much of a drinker but my fellow diners have always expressed that the wine selection here is excellent. I will have to mention to my hubby that when our next date night rolls around we might need to try eating here off the menu for a change. read more

I recieved a $50 gift card from my company. I invited a few friends and ordered 7 drinks. When I handed the bartender the gift card she came back and told me I still owed $14. I was a little surprised and almost paid it until I asked for a receipt. There was $14 left on the card. Given the bartenders past (including drug use and going to prison) I think she was trying to steal cash and using the company to do it. read more

It's always tough for me to eat out because of my dietary concerns. Though Minerva's doesn't have a gluten-free menu, as soon as I asked for one the staff was very willing to modify the menu to suit my needs. The hostess told our waiter about my concerns and he tried hard to give me info on what was most safe to eat. I ordered a burger without the bun, and they answered all my questions about the toppings. I didn't want potatoes so they gave me asparagus instead. The food was really good - the best yet that I've had on this road trip I'm taking across the U.S. My dad loved his burger too and keeps talking about it. If we were staying Watertown another night we would go back again for dinner. My only complaint is that they didn't ask me how I wanted my burger. I prefer medium rare to medium, but despite that the meat was good and still tender, so it was still very delicious! Thanks, everyone! read more

Have had brunch there twice now and both times left a lot to be desired. While the brunch menu could be something great, the buffet area was sloppy and the food was not even warm. I can get a better breakfast elsewhere for half the price. Minerva's brunch used to be the talk of the town, but I'm afraid that they are now past their prime. read more

I was in town on business with my boss and we were wanting an option that we could get a healthy or a little less healthy dish at and a glass of wine. After seeing the good reviews, we were excited to try it. I had the cajun chicken pasta which was delicious and full of flavor and he ordered the salmon which was also delicious! Insanely delicious Sunday brunch fare. Let me set the stage with a description of their FREE (with purchase of brunch entree) home-made jumbo caramel roll. I challenge any restaurant to craft me a more delicious caramel roll. Hot out of the oven, loaded with caramel spilling over the top and sides of the roll, even dripping off the plate a bit! Butter melting in a golden pool on the top. First bite, just a little crispy on the outer edge, and nearly croissant tender on the inside. Fully baked, no doughiness here! I must say it was perfect. The rest of the brunch offerings looked very good; I had the build-your-own omelot. An omelot bar was provided with the fixins'. Nice touch. I enjoyed the omelot but nothing could compare to that caramel roll. Coffee was served strong, hot, and regularly re-filled by an attentive and friendly waitress. Worst service EVER!! I'll never go back. Waitress couldn't get my order right, and had the kitchen put an inch of sour cream on my friends hashbrowns! Then she couldn't get our tickets straight. After talking to the manager TWICE she told us our meals were free for the confusion. So we got our tickets and it was only 20% off, so I talked to the manager AGAIN. Finally he straightened it out and we went to the bar and orderd a drink that I never receved so we left and will never be back read more

I do love Minerva's. They have a decent bar and happy hour menu & well made cocktails.TV's for sports. Flatbreads are tasty. Decent wine list. Great for business entertaining. I even like the breakfast in the morning. I just like it! Good mid range semi-upsacle joint in the Ramkota. Nice bartenders. read more

I had the best food last night at this restaurant. We had a party of seven and was taken care of by the excellent waitress, Sierra. She suggested appetizers from Marti Gras menu and we ordered the cheddar cheese hush puppies. The maple and pecan salmon was exceptional along with the mashed potatoes. Fantastic food and friendly service! We had an awesome meal...soup-great, spinach salad-looked really good, hamburgers-yummy, flatbread pizza-a little too trendy and could have used more cheese, but great flavor. The best was the coconut shrimp-it was scrumptious! They have an impressive menu selection for both food and beer. It's a very cozy restaurant even though it's quite large. Can't wait to go back! By the way, it's attached to the Best Western (which looks very nice), but don't let that keep you away from this little gem, it could rival any upscale restaurant in any big city! Over 30 years my wife have enjoyed Minerva's in Sioux Falls SD. After moving north we have visited Minerva's in Watertown 3 times. Each time the service has been slow. This last time the steaks were burnt, deep fried, service was very slow, waitress did not check back. read more

I ate here while attending a conference in the attached hotel so it was pretty busy. The atmosphere was great. I know there are several MInervas restaurants located throughout South Dakota and Iowa, this was the first one I've dined at. I ordered a pasta dish and it just wasn't great.
