their pastys are super and their huckleberry scones yummy. i just dont get down there often enough!

This restaurant just opened and is excellent right out of the gate! I am from Michigan where we take pasties very seriously! For those who don't know, a pasty is a meat pie. They were first made by miners as a handy way to take a meal into the mines. These have a nice flaky crust, savory filling and a fantastic brown gravy over top. Prices,range from $5.00 to $7.00. They have a special pasty each week with different filling. For example, this weeks special ($7.00) is tenderloin steak, portobello mushroom and gorgonzola with gorgonzola cream sauce! To die for!  Add slaw and drink for 2.50. They have amazing breakfast pasties too! I had one filled with sausage, onion potato, egg and covered with delish white gravy. Made my eyes roll back in my head! lol. ###They also have gluten free ..call ahead they sometimes run out!. Beautiful coffee bar with a cozy spot to sit and enjoy. FREE WIFI Decor is wonderful. Old timey cozy western feel with historic pictures of miners on the walls. Great montana feel! Service was perfect. The new owners are a delight friendly and welcoming! What a wonderful addition to Hamilton! Would love to see a wonderful signature salad on the menu in the future for the odd crazy person who doesn't want a pasty in your party. read more

Good old fashioned miner eats. Simple and good at what they do! Three choices, The cornish, the premium, and breakfast. The beautiful thing about the original cornish pasty is that it is always amazing!!! Brown gravy atop of a delicate hand made and pinched pocket of onion and beef. The dough it flaky and awesome but still able to stand up to the gravy. If you aren't in the mood for the original the premium gives you an option for change. Different almost every day with the same delicious outer shell and an amazing filling that can be just about anything! Talk about an amazing breakfast food... you just can't go wrong. Not only do they have good food but they also have an awesome atmosphere on top of being friendly and clean. A must try if your looking for something quick while passing through and a definite repeat if you live in the area. read more

I found this place by accident while exploring the side streets of Hamilton. Service took a while because I was so excited that I arrived before the pasties had cooked, but the owner won me over when she handed me a cup of coffee to drink while I waited. Best of all, the pasty survived a hike up Blodgett canyon, and the gravy was still warm when I set my chair up next to the creek an hour later! read more

I was totally surprised at the so called pasties. I sm originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Home of the real Cornish Pasties. Pasties are made with meat, diced potatoes and onions, some even have rutabagas. The pasties at Mine Shaft Pasties use hash browns for potatoes. Unreal...not the original Cornish Pasties. Very disappointed...I will never order another one nor will I recommend. read more

Stopped in yesterday afternoon and had the Beef tenderloin, Portobellow mushroom, Gorgonzola cheese pasty. I've had some good pasties before, but this was totally different! I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven! Both of my Grandkid's come for the summer, and both love pasties. I can't wait to take them to the Mineshaft! The owner is a great guy, and an Anaconda native. They know pasties!!! Don't make the mistake of missing out on this treat next time you're in Hamilton. PS, Extremely nice and comfortable place to relax. Update, went for lunch Wednesay (2/24) and had the "Hipster" again, but this time with the Alfredo gravy instead of the brown. Incredible either way. I shoot trap every Wednesday, and use to treat myself to a "Nap's Burger". Now I have the Mineshaft as my go-to place, and intend to try every pasty on the menu! read more

I found a little piece of heaven on earth at the MineShaft Pasty restaurant. I had the breakfast pasty with white gravy and it was excellent. We also tried to the Cornish pasty and the Scones - which were also excellent. Everything was delicious. You can't go wrong here. The service and atmosphere were super friendly and comfortable. Great food - love the pasty's. Easy to eat in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The coffee is always hot and ready for you too. Family run business and always a smile on their faces. My wife and daughter love hanging out wth a chia tea latte, a special coffee, and the Mine Staft incredible chocolate chip cookie - enjoy. read more

My wife had read about the place and was excited to try it. Our experience was a somewhat uneven: We walked in in the late morning and looked around. The place looks great. We were the only patrons there. A gentleman behind the counter who was clearly one of the owners told us about the composition of a number of the pasties. We told him we'd be having a couple of pasties there and some taking others to go. As soon as we'd ordered the two to stay and a coffee for me he stated a total due and I reminded him we weren't finished ordering yet. A small thing perhaps, but first impressions matter, and my first impression was that this guy didn't listen and just couldn't wait to get his hands on my money. Then I saw that the place uses Square Payment, which is an obnoxious platform with pre-set tipping percentages to choose from, beginning at 15%. That's awkward for a transaction when part of the total--the to-go part--involves no service. But that concern was quickly dismissed; everything was self-service anyway: pour your own coffee, take your own food to a table... The pasties we tried--eat-in and take-out--were all good. While we were dining, the gentleman we'd ordered from brought over the sauce for one of the to-go pasties, which he explained hadn't been ready when we ordered and when he bagged them ten minutes earlier. Would he just have not told us if we'd taken it to go right away? The correct thing would have been to notify us when we ordered that one sauce wasn't ready yet but that he'd bring it to us before we left. Instead he apparently decided we didn't need to be informed. A woman emerged from the kitchen while we were eating and was very friendly and solicitous, asking if there was anything she could bring us, etc. She was also clearly an owner. Maybe their model isn't intended to be as self-service as our experience suggested. Later, looking at Mineshaft's website, I observed that the pics of the place were not displaying properly--opaqued out in two different browsers. I'd notify them if there were an email address listed but instead there's one of those awful fill-in-the-blanks forms where you're asked to provide your email address but not provided with theirs. It's an established fact that many people find those forms offensive and decline to use them, so the business misses out on valuable feedback. Bottom line: Mineshaft Pasty has a big-league concept and product, but there are rough edges to buff out. read more
