As a Cantonese gal who visits Arizona often, finding real Cantonese bbq out here is basically a quest. Ming-Gee is one of the few spots that actually delivers, and I try to stop in every time I'm in town! My most recent visit, I got the 3 item bbq platter ($36): duck, cha siu (bbq pork), and siu yok (roast pork). The siu yok skin had that proper crackle, the cha siu had good caramelized edges, and the duck was rich and tender. Rice is complimentary with this dish. This is the stuff I grew up eating and it tastes like home. It was pretty quiet on a Friday afternoon, which was honestly a bummer. Great service, kind owners, real cantonese cooking. Heard so much about this place in food groups on FB, so my friends and I decided to check it out. Upon entering the building, you are immediately hit with a display of the Chinese BBQ items available (Roast Pork & Duck...they might offer more items but since they just opened, that's all I saw/noticed). It's a medium size business with about 6 booths, a long booth along the wall with a couple of table tops and 5 10 person tables. The service is ok from our waitress. The girl took my order (hot tea) and that was all, didn't ask if we wanted ice water or anything else. I was surprised initially, seeing that they offered not only an extensive menu, but they also offered dim sum (granted, a lot of the items they had listed were not available). We tried to order like 4 dishes off their dim sum menu and one item from their regular menu, they came back to say they did not have it. What we were able to get, was decent, seasoned properly and edible. I would be willing to come back and try other things, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. As previously mentioned, the service is fine when they would deliver the food, but after that, they don't pay much attention to you, even when it comes to getting some to go boxes and a bill. Best Cantonese food in AZ. We always come here with my grandma and there's not a single thing on the menu we don't like. Our all time favorites are the Peking duck, tofu beef egg drop soup, sweet and sour fried pork, and fried squid with Jalapeño. If you are a fan of calamari, the fried squid is like an Asian version of it! Service was average. Typical hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. I've been in Phoenix for almost 30 years, and somehow, I only just found Ming Gee! This place is such a hidden gem. They've got a small dim sum menu--not a ton of options, but hey, it's better than nothing, and they were actually pretty tasty. If you're looking for a fancy spot with trendy decor, Ming Gee isn't it. But if what you want is just good, authentic Chinese food, you'll be happy here. Every dish we tried was delicious (check out the photos), and I'm so glad I finally gave it a shot. It's surprising to find this kind of quality Chinese food over on the west side--just judging by the outside, you'd never expect it. This was our second time here, and the food was great! It is a small place and you would not find it unless you are looking for it. It is worth the trip. They don't serve any alcoholic beverages, which is one of the only downsides. There aren't many good Chinese food restaurants in Phoenix (in my opinion), and this is definitely a good one. read more

Ordered about 5lbs of roasted pork belly and a party tray of their salted fish fried rice. Not a fan of their pork belly - it was a bit on the sweat side and flavor profile was not what I expected. Maybe because I make a Vietnamese pork belly at home and prefer my own cooking. I have also had roasted belly from dim sum places and prefer that over Ming-Gee's flavors. About their salted fish fried rice - it was mostly chicken. Not very much fish in their dish (party tray). Every now and then, I would taste some of the salted fish but most of the protein found in their fried rice was chicken. Will not be ordering these options from them again. Might give their other dishes another chance but pretty disappointed with trying to supplement our party with Ming-Gee's roasted pork belly at $20/lb and salted fish fried rice party tray. Service was okay. I called my order in advance, but they did not prepare the roasted pork belly until I arrived. They had to chop the pork belly and weigh it on a scale as it's sold by the pound. It would have been nice to have it ready so I could just pay and leave but that wasn't the case. Ambiance could use some work. Great price, great helpings and friendly service! Ming-Gee offers decent American Chinese fare. If you are hungry and on a budget, Ming-Gee is for you. They use pretty good ingredients and the chef is careful about making the different sauces interesting, but it is pretty typical American Chinese food. I really like the proprietor who likes to experiment with new dishes. She has a creative spirit that I applaud. I enjoyed their charsiu or barbecue pork, the egg drop soup and their potstickers. I live across the street from this Chinese spot and found it by accident. I've ate here many times and usually go for the Curry Chicken with extra $1 chicken and extra , white rice + the crispy chicken egg roll. The Curry Chicken comes with onions, red and green bell peppers, and julienne carrots. The veggies age crisp without being undercooked and the chicken is white meat. The food is flavorful and has the right amount of heat to where it tingles your tongue and lips. The egg rolls are crispy and full of meat and veggies. They do great with the house sweet and sour + the hot mustard. My food is always hot and ready on time. The staff has always been great and you get a lot of food for the price. read more

Food was so so. Lomein noodles were greasy. Meat in PoPo platter was tough. My dogs did enjoy it. With the previous owner's if your order was over $30 they automatically gave you the free crab puffs. These owner's would not honor the internet coupon. The menus in the restaurant states order has to be over $35. I said no the online coupon states $30. Needless to say the big guy would not honor it.
