Food Breakdown: Signature XLB, Beef Noodles, Scallion Pancakes, & Fried Dumplings: These were average at best--just okay, but certainly far below what other standard spots in the area serve. Wontons: Disappointing quality. They lacked both filling and flavor, leaving me eating mostly empty wrapper dough. The noticeable drop in food quality makes me wonder if there has been a change in management or a new team in the kitchen. For the Phoenix west side, this is a good option for folks, but my standards are pretty high after years of living in Southern California and New York. I would recommend the beef roll. I have been eyeing this place as I have been craving BBQ PORK BUNS. Today I had a marketplace purchase in the area. I decided to stop and give it a try as I saw it on Yelp when searching for bbq buns. Asian food is a top favorite and normally get at a good dim sum place. Ok interior is nice reminds me of maybe a former bbq restaurant. I may have done 5 stars but it chaps my hide when restaurants charge for soda water the same cost of a soda. Note not canned or bottled but same as that from the fountain. Ok to the food good my favor it is the Bao Pork belly bun peanuts and pickled veggies 5 stars. Uncle Panda has quickly become a favorite for me! I used to have to make the trek to Mesa when I wanted some good Chinese food, but now I can just go a few minutes down the road. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is spacious and clean. My favorite items on the menu have to be (in no particular order) the Roujiamo, pork and shrimp pan fried dumplings, the cucumber salad, the fungus salad, the green beans, the cold beef and tendon, and the hot and sour soup. I definitely recommend coming with a group of people so you can order a bunch if food and then share it all. What a delightful find! My son and DIL eat here often and I love that they introduced me to this wonderful place. They have a unique take on dandan noodles that is really yummy. I appreciate that it is not "saucy", but full of flavor - the spice leaves a warm coat on your tongue. We also had yummy soup dumplings (but it is weird that they don't give you a spoon to eat them). My friend and I never pass up a good dumpling, so we were excited to find Uncle Panda in our area! Definitely check their hours before you visit as they take a break some days. We visited at 2 pm on Thursday, so just an hour before their 3 pm break. The restaurant was not very busy, but it was a weird time. We ordered the scallion pancakes, chicken and corn dumplings, and the chicken teriyaki buns. I liked that the food arrived staggered instead of all at once, so we had time to enjoy each dish before the next one arrived. I had never tried a bun before, so I didn't know what to expect. I really liked it! All of the food was great. The interior of the restaurant was nice as well, with a modern/industrial vibe. Our second time visiting this establishment. It was not too busy at 11-12noon on Good Friday. Restaurant was clean and service super efficient. For food, we tried the assorted xiao long bao, pan-fried pork and cabbage dumplings (order first as it required 20 mins!), bulgogi beef rice bowl, and braised beef noodles soup. The surprise and delight ended up to be the beef rice bowl. The beef was flavorful and it was very satisfying with rice and a fried egg on top. The xiao long bao on the other hand, were not quite up to their regular standards. The dumpling skin was a bit mushy and the filling on the dry side. Noodles in the braised beef noodles soup were overcooked while the chunky beef pieces were decent and tender. We will return but definitely want to get better soup dumplings. read more

This place is hit or miss. We dined in here a while back and had a good experience. When we ordered our take out this weekend there was an issue with the restaurant receiving it. I arrived to pick it up on Saturday night, and waited in line to be helped for about 5-10 minutes. It was busy, but no one really acknowledged any of us waiting in line, and it was kind of confusing trying to figure out if there were different lines for guests trying to eat in or take out. The line was also in the middle of the restaurant which made it awkward for the guests dining in and the servers trying to mi e around. When it was my turn, and we learned that our food had not even been started, it was a bit frustrating. I left to run another errand and when I came back 20min. Later, the food was ready. Luckily, all of the food we ordered was delicious. The small steam pork soup buns were good, but probably would have tasted better fresh at the restaurant. We also ordered the beef and green onions dumplings, Mongolian beef, house fried rice, fried mandu, and an order of their seasonal bunny happy bao buns. The three of us came here last evening and enjoyed a Chinese comfort food extravaganza. Even for a busy Friday night, we were seated promptly and found Uncle Panda inviting. The servers were attentive, but not on top of you and everything went smoothly throughout our meal. We ordered five different appetizers to share: Scallion Pancakes, Pork Cabbage Gyoza Dumplings, Egg Chives Pancakes, Szechuan style Chili Wontons, Bulgogi Beef and Rice with a Fried Egg on top and a ten piece Korean Garlic Boneless Chicken entrée. All items were tasty and hit our craving spot. Nice! Our tab came to $82.92 before taxes and gratuities, which for three us seemed about right. This place is not what I expected! I thought it would be smaller from just looking at things online but when we got there it was really dope inside! it's a nice size space with tables and kinda like an open kitchen type set up so you see everything and everybody. So they are busy and they are doing their job. if you have a party of at least 10 or 12 I'm sure they would accommodate for that. You sit where you want when you come in and you're greeted with smiles and almost kinda feels like love because I think they know their food is the bomb. So you're probably wondering why the four stars... There is this spice they use that almost is like a peppermint or spearmint type of reaction you have so when you're eating, you have all this goodness in your mouth and then all of a sudden you're like, "am I chewing gum"?! I didn't care for it so, that is the reason for the four stars, other than that, it's was very, very good. We ordered the fried green beans, hot fried fish, the mini popcorn fried chicken, white rice, Thai tea, some dumplings (not sure what kind)! Everything was bomb! The fish was so good and light and flaky! I will order that and the chicken every time we go. And the green beans. We wanna try more dumplings, so that'll be next on the list. We came here looking for something different than places we normally go to. We actually ate here during their soft opening a few years ago and thought the food was decent. We ordered our food and they looked amazing, but that's where it went downhill. I ordered a bowl of rice and it was half cooked and mushy. I told the waitress and she said one of the rice cookers were broken and it would be another 15-20min before the other one would be done. If it's broken and the rice is half cooked, why would you serve it and charge your customers for it?! She willingly removed it from my order, but then I overheard another waitress speaking in Chinese under the breath of her voice "if you don't like it, why did you order it?" That was very rude of her, but since she wasn't our main server, I let that go. Next came the food itself. For the most part it was good, but.... Yes, there's a but. Every dish was so salty! So much MSG and salt in every dish. Without the rice, it was so difficult to eat. Even the ramen that we ordered for the kids was salty. We were so disappointed and hoping that it's just a fluke of the kitchen staff being a little heavy handed that day with the salt. If it wasn't for these 3 things, I would give them a 4 or even 5 stars. It's unfortunate. The crushed peanuts were an interesting garnish but it adds a nice crunch factor. Service: 2 stars - it's run by older Chinese folks who do not have the best customer service. The service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Maybe she is one of the owners. Mongolian Beef (3.5/5) - the beef was fairly tender and good. There wasn't much spice/kick to it. Fairly, straightforward beef with green onions and yellow onions. Scallion Pancake (4/5) - good, classic crispiness. Xiao Long Bao Dumpling (3/5) - Please allow 12-15 min for this if you didn't know. Meaty, but it didn't have any soup in the dumpling. Sad face. Pan Fried Pork Buns (3/5) - like steamed white Buns. I wish the bottom was a bit more crispy or crunchy. Otherwise, it was still good. Pork Won Ton in Chicken Broth (3/5). My wife enjoyed this. But she thought the won ton wrapper was a bit thick. Custard Buns (4/5) - creamy sweet inside. I liked this.
