We just had our monthly lunch at the Canton Dragon. As always it was delicious. Our waiter Louis is incredible. Perfect service and always with a smile. He even honored my request for won ton soup which I prefer to egg drop! Kathleen our hostess, was also wonderful and brought us water after we were seated by her as soon as we entered. Delicious asian food! The portions are huge!! The foods were very tasty. My favorite was the special Cantonese chow mein. There were a lot of noodles and protein. All the portions were big in all the dishes so definitely great for family style sharing. Service was great! Lots of indoor seating available. I would recommend coming here! read more

Wow, an excellent, throw-back, classic Chinese restaurant in the Phoenix Valley. Who knew? So if you've lived in the greater Phoenix area for any time, you know there are two things lacking in the food here: great Mexican food, and great Chinese food. Now, there ARE some excellent higher-end Chinese restaurants near downtown (Like George Yang), but they're a little more upscale. What I've been looking for is that good-ol', classic American-Chinese restaurant with the old vinyl booths, the paper placemat with the different Chinese birth year animals ("tiger," "monkey," etc.), fortune cookies, and classic Cantonese dishes. Like the place depicted in "Christmas Story" or the Chinese restaurant in whatever town you grew up in. Well folks, this is it. The food is fantastic. and they have all the classic dishes: fried shrimp, Mongolian beef, twice-cooked pork, egg fu young, moo-shoo chicken, and the best fried rice I've had in a decade. And that's a tiny sampling. They have every amazing Chinese dish you've ever had. One thing that really surprised me was their soup. A lot of Chinese restaurant soups resemble tasteless snot. Not these. The wonton soup is delicate, packed with flavor, and loaded with hearty boiled wontons. It's savory, bright, light, and beautifully prepared. The hot and sour soup is equally good (hard to pull off). That's the mark of a great Chinese place. The service is standard, though it was a nice surprise to have the owner bring out some of the dishes. You can tell he cares about the food and his customers and that's a rarity. And the location is, well, in Maryvale. But don't let that stop you. When you're ready to step back in time to an era when Chinese food was uncomplicated, hot, delicious, and hit you right in the feels, try Canton Dragon. It's is just a great little find and will satisfy ANYbody's Chinese food craving better than just about anyplace in the Phoenix Valley. And one quick note: the portions are HUGE and the prices still affordable. It's nothing fancy, just everything your Chinese hole-in-the-wall heart desires. It's also clean and spacious. One point off for not playing traditional Chinese music. The rock music was out of place, but who cares. Come for the food! read more

I wanted to try a new plate so I ordered the sweet and sour pork I wasn't a big fan of this dish. I will continue to stick to my norm Service is always great and good ambience for families. I've been eating from here for 20 years or more. And the last few years it's just gone downhill. The prices have gotten higher. Some of the portions have gotten smaller, things that are not supposed to be spicy are sometimes spicy and sometimes not even when you ask for them to be not spicy. There have been several times at the Emperor's beef have tasted like orange. Which it shouldn't. Most of the time dishes that Used to come with plenty of sauce now come with no sauce or a very watered down version of sauce. We almost always A few of the same dishes every time. But we never know whether it's going to be good or not anymore. And I must say over nine dollars for a large egg drop soup is ridiculous. Egg drop soup cost pennies to make and everyone knows it so to charge nine dollars for something that probably takes $.40 to make and maybe $.75 for the container is just ridiculous. I can see the prices Going up on other dishes because the cost of meat, etc. has gotten higher but seriously that's just too much for egg drop soup and half the time you don't know whether it's Going to be to salty or just right. I hope they get their act together. And start putting out the quality of food that they used to put out. read more

The beef and Broccoli and the vegetable delight, and the pepper steak, sweet-and-sour chicken , Mongolian beef is my favorite and the spicy orange chicken . The combo orders come with a small cup of egg drop soup,spring roll,fried rice or you can ask for white rice . The orders come out pretty fast. The service is good, has lots of tables. Can serve a large group in the back. Nice and quiet Lots of lighting. Mr. Daniel is the owner of the restaurant very nice man who cares for is customers. The prices has went up a little due to inflation. The shrimp Fried rice and their beef fried rice is delicious. There pork Noodle soup is really good. I wanted to try a new Chinese place for the first time.... I made an order here for pickup and they got it wrong, I ordered one chicken and one fried rice and they but both in one plate I told them it's fine I'll just add another chicken fried rice, no problem. When my order was ready no apologies were made and when I asked for hot sauce, they gave me their chili oil I asked if they had sriracha instead..... they place it right behind the register to the left side and she said they didn't have any I didn't want to argue or be blunt and say its right there!!! I see it!! lol let's just say it'll be the first and last time I go here.... The one couple eating here should have been a red flag the atmosphere was dead.... This place was hoping and the parking lot was packed.....and now I know why....the food was AWESOME! My husband and I went for an impromptu lunch and it was delicious! They had a one sided menu with lunch specials. It seemed like a well run restaurant indeed! No one was missing a beat! I had the sweet and sour chicken, which had the largest chunks of chicken I've seen! My husband had the Kung pao chicken, which he said mild spice, and he said it was still plenty spicy! (He can handle fairly well). The egg rolls are veggie- not my favorite, but they were ok. They have a soup of the day that comes with the lunch special. We also ordered a bowl of wonton soup- excellent. They actually had delicious wontons, with a good amount of met in them....not just the wonton. And the soup didn't have a bunch of veggies floating in it...which I hate when I order wonton soup! We will DEFINITELY go back! read more

I ordered shrimp egg foo young and it was disgusting! Who puts peas and carrots in egg foo young? The patties were made with some kind of breading and the shrimp weren't cooked in the patties!!! This is their "chow mein." They give you a soupy mix of veggies and a bag of dry noodles I guess you're supposed to pour on top?? Noodles were stale, never softened up to make an actual chow mein. when I called asking if it was the wrong order she told me it was their chow mein and then hung up on me. I was craving Chinese food the other day and I wanted good Chinese food. Being Thai I'm skeptical about Asian food in general if it's not homemade. Once in awhile I crave Chinese takeout food but have never found a place that can live up to my standards until I ran into Canton Dragon. Looks like a hole in the wall place but those are usually the best places to eat. I can't believe I've lived near this place for 10 years and just came across it but happy that I did. I got hot and sour soup which is the best I've had anywhere. It's full of veggies and meat. I also got the house lo men which was good too. I think it was even better the next day. I live in Surprise and they asked me to go back and they'll give me a new box with white rice‍ I told them NO THANK YOU! I didn't go back until today and I did because I wanted to give them another chance! And because I really loved their food but what a disappointment I ordered house chow fun (thick noodles) and they were over cooked and sooo blunt the food had no flavor at all!
