I eat at this place often and the service is usually good. I recommended it to a few friends they went and the service was horrible. Granted it's normally busy and there might be a small wait. But attitude accompanied by a wait? Unacceptable. The guy with the tattoos was Not accommodating and rude. And they paid twice as much as I normally do for the same thing I always get. read more

Awful service. I waited 40 minutes for food from the steam table which is supposed to be ready. I witnessed them give out food to several people who had ordered after myself. Then when they finally got to my order they gave me scraps from the bottom of the pan! That is absolutely unacceptable! I will not be back. I would have given a 5-star rating about 3 months ago, but I've noticed the last few times I've gone (and I only go during lunch), the food quality has gone downhill. I think there has been a change in cooks. Last time I ordered spicy chicken & shrimp from the steam table, the brown sauce was swimming in grease (a change from how it was before). Today I ordered cashew chicken through the drive-thru. I asked what veggies would be in there and was told zucchini, carrots, green onions, and water chestnuts, and of course cashews. When I opened the box, there was a LOT of chicken, a LOT of cashews, and a LOT of water chestnuts. And three small slivers of zucchini. No carrots, no green onions. The flavor of the sauce was bland, and again, greasy. I didn't even make it 1/3 of the way through, I had to throw it out. Because this restaurant has been outstanding in the past, I may give them another shot. I hope it improves. read more

Well I lost a bet. I suggested to my wonderful friend that we eat at Mings, which I have been eating at for 21 years and have never gotten bad food. So, we headed out. The food was great, service TERRIBLE! My friend said, "I bet you that that young man's Mother is the boss". I said no, she has waited on my for a long time and I know her son wouldn't act that way, yelling at me across the restaurant. When we were getting into our cars my friend, (well into her 50's) said I'm gonna go have a talk with that young man and tell him in all of my years I have never seen anyone treated that bad in public!!! She called me later and told me I had lost the bet, his Mom was the manager. This is sad. read more

This is one of my favorite chinese places in Tyler. The only thing they are lacking is customer service. The owner's daughter who is alsways working never smiles or greets you. You ask her a question and she gives the impression that you're stupid. The owner is lacking customer service too but it is better to have no personality than a rude one. If you can get past them, you can enjoy the food. The steam table offers favorites for a minimal charge. read more

The price was a little higher than average. The entree was hot and had large portions. The only reason I gave two stars instead of three, is the crab ragoon. It was bad, like been cook before then fried again, all soggy, nasty, and cold. read more

Ming's Is one of the Top 3 overall Chinese restaurants in Tyler. The food is always fresh and hot, as far as the atmosphere this is not a sit down type restaurant this is fresh hot take out. If You want a more upscale atmosphere there is Julians down the road, or Liangs(Same owners as mings) and you will pay alot more for food of the same quality. This is high quality fresh Chinese food at a great price. It doesnt get any better take out Chinese than this. Cheap, fast, and always on point. Pepper shrimp, green beans, beef & broc, spicy chicken & shrimp, and hot & sour soup are the best in town.

Excellent food, friendly staff, and its fresh! They do not make the orders until you place one!! This may cause the order to take a little longer but it is worth it. TIP: if you are picking up and taking with you, call ahead and then get it in the drive thru. Just let them know when it's your turn to order, at the menu, in the drive thru line. The beef fried rice may have been the best I have ever eaten!! My son, who can take or leave fried rice, is hooked. He asks at least weekly if we can drive to Tyler just to get this rice. The rest of the menu was great too. Huge portion sizes (3 of us are on the rice for 2 days). The egg rolls were good, and looked amazing. There was something slightly off, and I couldn't decide just what it was, but they were still much better than the frozen ones you get at most places and even better, or as good, as other places that serve homemade ones. I judge a Chinese food restaurant on their egg rolls, a lot. Much like I do on Tea and Tea service in other restaurants. My family and I will definitely be back (sooner than later if left up to my son!!) read more

We have eaten food from Mings for 22 years and it has been fresh and excellent every time we ordered. Part of that experience was driving from Longview to Tyler, to order. We moved to Tyler in 2010 and order from Mings two to three times per month and it is as good as the first time we had it. Thank you, Mings!!! read more

WOW! Is about all l can say about Mings. The service is excellent, The food is about the best you can get in this area and the portions are huge. I ate off the steam table, then took home the rest and ate off the take out for two days so that means i had 3 meals for a little more than $ 2.00 a meal. You can not beat that anywhere and enjoy the food as much as I did. I give it a full 5 stars and would have rated more had there been more stars. Mings is defiantly a winner. read more

Probably my favorite Chinese place in Tyler. The portions are big, the prices are low, and the staff are friendly. The atmosphere and setting is what you would expect from a Chinese takeout place, but the food more than makes up for it. I like to order their house fried rice minus the pineapples. Waited in line behind 4 cars, we got to the front and the guy made eye contact with me twice and flat out ignored me. Never opened the window or anything to signal he acknowledged me other than accidental eye contact. Absolutely ridiculous and flat out rude. This employee should take a course in customer service! Ming's has been a place that I wanted to visit after hearing rave reviews from friends. So, tonight was my first visit. Appearance: Small, hole-in-the-wall type place. The crew was cleaning up for closing, there were trash bins, brooms and cleaning supplies out in the dining area. I made my way to the order area, and was greeted by a friendly smile. The wait staff are very courteous. I looked over the menu and ordered the chicken curry and an egg roll. I was almost alone in the restaurant. They have a sign at the order station that reads, Thanks for your patience, our meals are made fresh when you order. I waited for about 5-6 mins and my food was delivered piping hot and fresh. Very nice presentation. Flavor: Fabulous! Very tasty, just the right amount of spices. Colorful, and very fresh peppers and baby corn. I had only on problem with this restaurant, as I ate my beautiful food, I had to swat at numerous fruit flies. Kind of a let down. :( But overall, I would eat there again, but maybe get it to go. ;) read more

I agree with the other review. Although the decor is terrible, the atmosphere is relaxed, the employees are friendly (and American), and the food is fresh and always good. You can get all-white chicken and it doesn't taste like it's been frozen and saturated in MSG. This is actually the only Chinese restaurant that I like. read more

Love, love, love this food. Moved over here from Austin where there is an Oriental place on every corner so we had tons of good Oriental food. Tyler has some Chinese buffets but I hate buffets. We have probably tried at least 10 different dishes here and they have always been good. They have a steam table and the food is great on it, but you can order fresh made too.
