You can tell they freshly make the food because when you get your order it is very hot. The egg rolls are ok. The workers are pretty friendly. My wife and I moved to Macon about 10 months ago and have been looking for decent Chinese food since we got here. We are transplants from NJ so our standards are a little different than most locals when it comes to Chinese food. With Ming's we found more than just a decent Chinese food restaurant. Ming's is the best Chinese food we've had since moving here. There are places closer to our house but I will gladly travel a little further for the quality and taste. We had some standard dishes for our first one there. I had General Tso's chicken, my wife had Chicken Egg Foo Young and we got an order of fried Wontons. Highly suggested as one of the best 'fast food' Chinese restaurants in Macon... I'm not so sure about that! The crab rangoon was the best thing on the menu, but that's where it ends. I've had the general tso, steamed dumplings, shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken... and none of them tasted very good, at all. I actually ended up throwing them away because they just weren't that good. Customer service is what you would make of any other Chinese restaurant, so not too bad... maybe I'll keep trying things on the menu. My go-to for cheap Chinese food! The staff is friendly, service is fast, the bill is cheap, and the food is, well, Americanized Chinese food at it's finest! I really enjoy the mixed vegetables or the broccoli with oyster sauce, and will often end up taking chicken lo mein home, too. When I order with friends, we always end up with an embarrassing amount of food, easily twice as much as I expected to pick up...not that I'm complaining! There are a few places to sit inside, but the wait isn't long, so chill out and watch the Disney channel on the TV in the corner or go and pick up LaBerry or groceries while you're waiting. read more

Best Chinese in town. This is my go-to quick Chinese in Macon. Too far to drive from home, but right around the corner from one of my posts, and very, very quick service. Portions are huge. The place itself is your typical counter service Chinese dive. I've had the beef with broccoli (which had the BEST sauce I've ever had on this dish, hands down, and I've eaten at some really, really good Chinese places), the General Tso's, the Garlic Chicken, the Cashew Chicken, and the Sesame Chicken. Only one I won't order again is the Sesame as it was too sweet for my taste. The fried rice, like another reviewer said, was just meh, but it's not bad. Egg rolls are frozen. Crab rangoon are frozen too but gods they're good. The service is really kinda excellent, too. I've had times where I've ordered, had a call come in (I work on an ambulance, the tones drop, we gotta go) and had to leave, and come back later to pick up the food I asked them to hold only to get... FRESH FOOD at no extra charge! Now that's service. I realize that won't apply to most, but having been given 2+ hours cold (or held warm) food at numerous other places, it's nice to get that extra little treat of fresh food. read more

Ming's is a Macon essential. It is a small location with 6 tables, but it isn't exactly a dine-in location. More so a place to come in the pick up some good, inexpensive Chinese food to go. It is located in the Kroger shopping plaza right next to the nail salon and Jimmy Johns. You can most certainly walk here from Wesleyan College. I ordered wings and and crab ragoons. The wings taste as if they were cooked the day before and re-fried. The weren't fresh at all. We threw them in the trash. During this time people are choosing who they spend their money with. So to receive food that wasn't fresh very disappointing and it could have made us ill if we continue to eat them. Tried it for the first time last night and honestly I expected more from all I've heard about it. Don't get me wrong it was good, but not great. I ordered the 12pc wings (6 honey & 6 lemon pepper). The wings were awesome!!! Get them crispy. I also got a large house fried rice. It was okay, I expected more flavor. But it was a lot of rice, I will be able to have at least 3 more meals out of it. Got a kids sweet and sour chicken which was your usual sweet and sour chicken, nothing to write home about. Also ordered 3 egg rolls which were okay as well. I ordered at the drive thru window because I could not get through on the phone, they were sooooo busy!!! Also, they aren't letting ppl in the restaurant right now due to COVID. Ming's is your typical Chinese carryout restaurant. I visited Ming's on the recommendation of a friend regarding their excellent egg drop soup. The modest restaurant has about 5 tables for customers who want to dine-in. A large mural of China's mountainous landscape covers its south wall. The prices are fair. I ordered the egg drop soup and the beef fried rice lunch special. It cost me about $6. While the food is not as good as the Chinese restaurants in the Midwest, I do appreciate the fact Ming's goes easy on the MSG while still preserving flavor through natural spices. Ming's is not fancy, nor are the prices. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles a few places do with fancy artwork, fancy sound system, wine list, bar, fancy menu with fancy prices. What it does have is great tasting food at good prices. Basic concept: Walk up counter to order, eat in, take out and a drive through window. They have a large selection on the menu and if it's listed as spicy, it's spicy. They don't send out a spice rack. Usually always busy, the food is freshly cooked with fresh-not frozen-veggies. An order is quite generous in proportions and won't leave you wanting for more. For a quick lunch or solution for what to have for dinner when mom doesn't want to cook, this is the place to put food on your table and have money left in your pocket. read more

Don't compare Ming's to a "Taki" (Japanese food of Macon) or a "Legend" (Chinese food of New York)--those are different restaurant concepts that supply different segments of the market at different price points. The proper mode of comparison for Ming's is to compare it against other fast food restaurants at its price point. When you compare Ming's to this market sample, well, there is no comparison. Ming's stands head and shoulders above the rest. Asian food begins with rice; so, we must begin with rice. At Ming's the fried rice has clearly distinguishable food items that have been cooked in a huge pot with the rice--not the yellowy, starchy, chewy rice found elsewhere that has an occasional pea and rare carrot sliver. Upon request, they will include hot sauce for the rice that is on par with what you would expect with South China cooking--and not just someone mixing up a little bit of siracha with tomato paste. Dumplings and egg rolls follow next. Their dumplings are savory and delicious little pockets of excellence made of expertly folded dough and correctly seasoned meat. The hot dumplings (don't eat them cold or carry out--that's just dumb...) cause a sensation of happiness in every bite. As for their egg rolls, these items are not to be missed--their egg rolls are the correct combination of chewy and crispy. Once a Chinese restaurant has mastered those basics, we can move into a more substantive review of its actual fare. The General Tso's Chicken is warm without being too hot. The Lo Mein is well executed and has neither the rubbery nor slimey texture that so often disappoints customers at other Chinese restaurants. Sweet and Sour is really, truly Sweet AND Sour rather than the "Sweet and Sweet" construction favored by most of these types of restaurants these days. You can actually taste the different kinds of pepper in the Mongolian Beef. I don't eat the orange chicken at any restaurant, so I don't know. Finally, it is an excellent value. For what you'd spend on a "value meal" at a fast food chain, you can get a huge portion of excellently cooked and seasoned food. And bonus, this food won't kill you. read more

This place is kind of hit or miss. I've been there sometimes and gotten spectacular food and other times...meh. One nice thing about it is that they have a drive thru, but you have to be careful because they don't seem to be bright enough to figure out that if someone's order won't be ready for another 20 minutes they should tell them to pull around again or park. I've literally gotten stuck there for over 15 minutes before being able to get around the loser in front of me so I can pick up my by then cold food inside. And what do the people at the counter say when you ask them why they kept a line of five cars waiting: "those people's order wasn't ready yet". Oh really? Well mine was, so how's about we put on our thinking caps and tell the inconsiderate idiot to leave and come back in 10 minutes, so the rest of us can get the orders that are ready? But I digress... One thing I would recommend are their chicken wings, which are delicious, available in party ready order sizes and surprisingly affordable. I also enjoyed their fried rice, ribs and mei fun, while my dad is a huge fan of the shrimp and snow peas. Dishes I would avoid include the lomein (usually love lomein, but theirs is yucky) and their tempura shrimp, which is gummy and tasteless.
