I recently adopted a bunny for the first time and it was a great experience, all thanks to Shelly!…read moreI love the fact that she has the rabbit's best interest in mind when it comes to adoptions. I feel like many rabbit adoption centers are very specific when it comes to their adoptions, but not in a good way. Shelly does not judge, but she does make sure that you're fit to adopt. She also does not pressure you into adopting. Luna (previous Dustina) is the rabbit I adopted and she has tear duct issues due to neglect from a previous owner (we believe). Though I came in wanting her for certain, I still wasn't sure due to her condition. Shelly assured me that I can do it but to think about it, just in case I was hesitant. I came back the next day and here I am with Luna happily, two months later. She gives you a box of hay, a care booklet, and a free veterinarian visit at her workplace. She basically gives you everything necessary in order to care for one of her rabbits, all you have to do is give it love.

Shelly keeps here animal holding areas immaculate. She is extremely knowledgeable about good bunny care. The woman has worked closely with arguably one of the finest exotic animal vets in Southern California for years. This is a woman who is motivated purely by a love of these animals. She even tosses in a box of fresh hay with every bunny she adopts out.

We requested a few dogs to meet but it's challenging for them to bring multiple dogs across the border. We met outside one of the dog stores in SD. Had to meet super early. Still a little sketchy in our minds but we are Uber conservative. Met Josh. He had 3 dogs with him. We had requested 2 or the 3 but had our eye on one. Few things. The dog we thought we were looking at looked big on camera but was a puppy so keep that in mind. We went in with poker face but within minutes "Lola" was in our car and we headed home. Dog has been amazing. Vet gave it a clean bill of health. We are 2 weeks in. Already potty trained and an absolute love of the family! We highly recommend this service!

Well, I adopted a puppy and had many unforeseen issues, including my older dog rejecting the new puppy, and they would not take her back. They told me, if it was an urgent issue all I could do was pay one of their trainers $50 per day to give her back. They had no fosters available yet here I was liable, per the contract. They hid behind their monitors/phones texting with no one wanting to help at all. They accused me of not wanting to spend the money to train the puppy along with being very, very rude to me when all I wanted was for them to live up to the rules of their very own contract. If they are going to write a contract as such, they need to follow through and take the puppy back quickly. This is how bad things happen to animals when an owner can't keep the dog for many reasons, or the dog is not a good fit for the household. If they truly care they should adhere to their own requirements. Long story short, with time and training and patience, and after 6 weeks of being abandoned by Baja Rescue entirely, and moving forward as a loving animal lover, we will be keeping the puppy afterall. But, this isn't always the case for some people and if Baja Rescue truly loved animals they would stand by their word and their contract or not have that in the contract at all Therefore, I do not recommend this rescue to anyone. They do not follow through and their actions reflect neglect of animals.

My boyfriend and I have seen them (usually the lady the runs the rescue) at the Unleashed off of East H St. in Chula Vista, on Sundays. I believe they're there from 10am-2pm running their adoption events. There are usually a handful of animals, usually dogs found in the corner, by the front register. The lady that runs the rescue is pretty nice and informative with the animals that are in her care. When I spoke to her, she let us know about the animals that she has are out the events (their breed, personality, age, etc). She has said that they have over a hundred animals that they rescue and the animals either stay either her or fosters until the animals can be adopted. I have gone on their website and it's not as up to date with the information, so I would suggest contacting them or going to one of their events to see what animals they do have. It's nice to know that you are given a week to see if the animal you want to adopt will work for you and your family. If the animal doesn't fit, you can bring them back the following week and what you pay for the adoption is refunded to you. You are always welcome to return the adoptee to the organization any time after adoption instead of having them go to a shelter or giving them away another way. The lady that runs it is pretty upfront with how the adoption process goes and does try to find a good fit for you and the animals she cares for. I would give her a try if you are trying to find a new fur baby! They are always getting new rescues, so check back, or just let them know what you are looking for and you may end up with an awesome new fur baby for your family!

We got to meet a lot of adorable dogs, and one little guy instantly stole our hearts. What really stood out was how thoughtful and thorough TAP's process is. There was no pressure to adopt on the spot, which we really appreciated. After the event, we completed an application and received clear next steps. The following week, our foster brought him to our home so we could spend more time together. That confirmed everything we felt at the event. TAP conducted a home visit and checked our references, and it was clear throughout the process that they truly care about the well being of their animals and making the right match. Our foster was amazing, so kind and supportive. When we brought our little guy home, she sent him with his toys, some food, and a sweet note, which meant so much to us. Such a wonderful experience overall, and now our home is filled with love, laughter, and lots of snuggles.

They are extremely flexible with scheduling of volunteering and there are many different types of fostering opportunities. They provide food, supplies, veterinary care, and any other items your foster dog may need. Your contribution is the home and time. They also have a coordinator that matches you with a dog/cat that will match your lifestyle or situation such as small apartment spaces or other pets/kids. The coordinator is extremely communicative and prompt. Another great option is temporary foster for when long-term fosters go on vacation or when certain animals need a foster home if the kennel is full. This is a great opportunity to do a trial run on fostering or if you can't make a longer commitment. I have fostered several dogs from this rescue and make a monthly contribution when I can't house another pup. I continue to be inspired by their amazing work. Lauren shares many videos about the very real situations and struggles of being a rescue. Funding is extremely difficult but rest assured that your time, efforts and money donated are going to an excellent place. Even sending $5 over Venmo helps put a drop in the bucket!

See, my associate was lookin' for a new four-legged "enforcer," if you catch my meaning. I'll be straight with yous--I wasn't expecting much. A government facility? I figured it'd be all bureaucracy and headaches. I was ready to make a donation and keep it moving. I wasn't even really in the market to adopt, see? But let me tell ya, these people... they're the real deal. The staff there, they're not just on the payroll--they're made. Made of the good stuff. Incredibly helpful, extremely nice, and kinder than you'd ever expect. They answered all my questions without making me feel like a palooka and they handled the whole operation with class. The facility itself is what it is. It's an older establishment, you know? They're workin' with what they got. But you don't judge a book by its cover, and you don't judge a place by its linoleum. It was clean, and that's what matters. The process, though? Smooth. Very professional. No funny business, no hidden fees. I'm attaching the price sheet they gave me--everything's on the level, very reasonable for what you're getting. They made sure the pup and I were a good fit. It felt less like a transaction and more like... an introduction to the family. So now I'm a believer. I went in skeptical, and I came out a big proponent. This place shows you the great possibilities and relationships that can be made with a future family member. We couldn't be happier with our new associate. If you're looking to expand your organization, you know where to go. Tell 'em the Captain sent you. They'll know what it means. Capisce?

She argued with the dispatch on the phone who was trying to help me find somewhere to get this dog. Loving Arms staff stated that the dog was potty trained [newspaper] and dewormed, and less than one week later we discovered neither was true. When I contacted them interested in adopting, I had a hard time getting a response, and when we finally set up to meet she was late. I had a similar experience to the other reviewers except (and this is where the extra star comes in) she was potty trained and even knew some basic commands. However, she was NOT dewormed. She actively had worms when we got her. Now reading the other reviews I'm a little worried she's not actually fixed either. I never questioned that, but I've seen no proof at all she is (no hint of scar even). Kind of bad when Yelp reviews make you wonder about this 5 years later, but luckily she's not one to let boy dogs come up behind her without getting a good smack down.
