All organizations are going to have their own "rules" and way of doing things, some make complete sense, some don't and I have to say that all of the rules and guidelines P4P have in place make complete sense for the safety and well-being of the dogs. They have a great foster support system where we share both the wins and the struggles of fostering and rescue. Reading some of the negative reviews on here really surprise me and show that many people don't know what goes in to rescue. One commenter talked about P4P basically being a breeder because she felt the puppy adoption fee exceeded what the rescue paid towards the dog and that the rescue was trying to make a profit. There are absolutely no profits in rescue and I can assure you that the P4P partners and long-term fosters have put in substantial time and money to saving dogs. Any adoption fee money that *may* have exceeded the actual expenses of the dog are going right towards saving another dog. If a medical dog comes in and needs a $5k surgery, it's adoption fee isn't going to be $5k and those costs can be offset by the adoption fees of the dogs that didn't need as much medical care. This reviewer recommended you go to your local "shelter" instead and you know what? We support that too because a lot of what we do is promoting dogs in shelters! People volunteering in rescue have one goal - get animals into loving homes! Rescue can be emotionally draining and it definitely isn't for everyone. Every rescue isn't going to be a fit for everyone and I have chosen not to work with one of the rescues I previously fostered for. However, if you want to get involved, Passion for Pitties is a great rescue and offers lots of ways for people to help, even if they aren't in a place to be able to foster or adopt.

She's sweet and strong, very playful and protective. I panicked when I first got her though and felt overwhelmed. She's high energy and I hadn't slept in months. Passion for Pitties didn't give up on me or let me give up on Luna. They didn't hold it against me when I panicked, they just encouraged me and held me accountable and helped me be a better foster/human. They provided support and covered costs for things such as food, a crate, toys, etc. I see some criticism on these reviews. We must applaud what they have accomplished. I didn't see anyone else around when Luna needed saving. And at the end of the day, that's the point--to rescue these beautiful, majestic, sweet, misunderstood dogs. Remember *passion* is the name. They are passionate people as are pit bulls. Which can be bold and intense but it's also motivating and inspiring and beautiful.

We are a foster home for kitties and pups and we have had a great experience with Amazing Strays. They are very organized and well run. They clearly care deeply about making the best fit for their animals. I would absolutely recommend them to adoptees as you will be getting an animal that has been well vetted for health, behavior, and personality! And for potential fosters they give you tons of support each step of the way. I read a couple of the reviewers were mad when they could not adopt a pup from Amazing Strays. It's not first come first serve, and this organization does try to find the best fit for each animal. I can imagine it being disappointing if you think you have a great home and you are not chosen for a certain animal. Overall keep in mind that you are working with volunteers and please be kind!

Funny enough, we first saw her photo while we were on vacation in Hawaii. We immediately fell in love with that tiny little face and basically knew she was coming home with us before we had even gotten back home. We actually picked out the name Ruthie while sitting on Kaimana Beach in Oahu, so by the time we came home, she already had a name and two people completely obsessed with her. She was listed as half Chihuahua and half Rat Terrier and was expected to stay pretty small. Well...Ruthie apparently did not read her own paperwork. We think there's probably a good amount of Jack Russell in there along with Chihuahua and something else. Even as a puppy, her paws looked hilariously oversized for her tiny body, although she was also the runt. The size and weight estimates ended up being WAY off because our supposedly little dog grew to about 23 pounds by her first birthday. No complaints here though. We adore every pound of her. Our adoption fee was $500, which included her spay and microchip. We were responsible for finishing the remainder of her puppy vaccinations afterward, so that's something prospective adopters should factor in. The location was definitely a drive for us coming from North County San Diego, but she was completely worth the trip. It's still kind of crazy that a puppy photo we saw while sitting thousands of miles away in Hawaii turned into this goofy, affectionate, big-eared little dog who's now such a huge part of our family. It really was love at first sight. 5/5 for Kane's K9s. We went for a supposedly tiny Chihuahua/Rat Terrier and somehow ended up with 23 pounds of Ruthie. Wouldn't change a thing.

My pup (Romeo) was so lucky to have been with her. She def helped him break out of his shell. He was so scared of humans at first and Carol was the first to show him love. My sweet Romeo is a flight risk and managed to slip out of his collar on his first night when out for a walk. This rescue came together within 30 minutes of me reporting him missing and helped me search for him! It was a tremendous amount of support and I couldn't believe it. I felt horrible for loosing him especially on the first day but they did not show any hostility towards me. Instead they showed up and genuinely cared for Romeo's safe return helping with the search and posting flyers on social media and notifying OC animal care right away. They provided me and foster mom specific instructions so that hopefully Romeo found his way back and he did!!! Now looking back at the application process...it was a fairly smooth experience and Ruth was assigned to us. Ruth is truly amazing!!! And she makes sure that the dog you're wanting to adopt is the best fit for your family. Her wisdom and expertise helped guide us through this adoption process. She was very patient with us and listened to our concerns and responded promptly to our questions. I can truly see how much she cares for these dogs to have a loving home and that they get all their basic needs met. She loved all my updates and pics and is very quick to respond too! Once we made the decision to close the adoption, Ruth finalized the paperwork right away. A true professional!! I very much appreciated the trial in the beginning and with Romeo running away the first day, Carol and Ruth graciously offered a smooth transition to our home. I wasn't about to give up on this pup! And with him getting to know us better, we quickly became his chosen family. He's been getting the VIP treatment that he's always deserved. The website was great, I appreciated the information they had about each dog (personality and demeanor, if they're good with other animals or kids, if they're house trained, good in cars, etc). Those are all things you are wondering about when bringing in a new pet and it shaped which dogs initially applied for. The adoption process as a whole was clear and well communicated. Incredibly responsive and attentive team of volunteers. We had the greatest experience working with one of their Adoption Coordinators, Ruth. She made it an incredible experience and felt like family by the time our adoption was closed- she was so communicative and responsive. She answered most of my questions before I even got to ask them! After the application was completed, Ruth and I had a facetime interview. It was so obvious how much this team cares for these dogs and wants to make sure the fit is great for both adopter and dog. We adopted a dog that had a recent ACL surgery and Ruth took great care in getting us all information available to make an informed decision. Her and I were in constant contact and she explained what each step of the process looked like and kept me well informed about what was next. They have a policy of every adoption being a "trial adoption" (about a week) to ensure the dog is a great fit for the new family, in it's new home. We fell in love with our new pup immediately, but really appreciated the week trial to confirm our home/family was a good fit for him. We had daily check-ins with our adoption coordinator and that was great! This is a FANTASTIC organization to work with. Amazing volunteers who give so much time and energy to give these dogs a better life. Thankful to be a part of it and can't recommend them enough!
