I figured it'd be all bureaucracy and headaches. I was ready to make a donation and keep it moving. I wasn't even really in the market to adopt, see? But let me tell ya, these people... they're the real deal. The staff there, they're not just on the payroll--they're made. Made of the good stuff. Incredibly helpful, extremely nice, and kinder than you'd ever expect. They answered all my questions without making me feel like a palooka and they handled the whole operation with class. The facility itself is what it is. It's an older establishment, you know? They're workin' with what they got. But you don't judge a book by its cover, and you don't judge a place by its linoleum. It was clean, and that's what matters. The process, though? Smooth. Very professional. No funny business, no hidden fees. I'm attaching the price sheet they gave me--everything's on the level, very reasonable for what you're getting. They made sure the pup and I were a good fit. It felt less like a transaction and more like... an introduction to the family. So now I'm a believer. I went in skeptical, and I came out a big proponent. This place shows you the great possibilities and relationships that can be made with a future family member. We couldn't be happier with our new associate. The facility looked well kept and clean. There's a very big selection on dogs specifically and if you are a bit educated about shelter pets and are willing to be patient and maybe even consider some training, you will find a pet there for sure. I always like to remind people, specifically people who've never done this before, this is a place where animals from all walks of life get taken to. Some of them, if not most, will be showing some signs of kennel stress. It's always good to take your time with looking at them and ask as many questions as you can. Adoption is not something one should be impulsive about.

They would not accept that and told me I would be charged with animal abandonment which is insane because they used to have cages you can leave pets in after hours ? I didn't have a choice but to leave the dog . I thought I was doing a good deed to prevent the dog from getting hit but left feeling with regrets . One of the employees stepped in front of my car to prevent me to leave which is false imprisonment and I will counter sue for . They were also screaming at me while I was leaving , officer that came in didn't try to deescalate or see what the situation was . Crazy how our tax dollars are being spent . Sad part is that I wanted to give them my information in case the pups owner were not found . I just saw a collar and tag and assumed she was chipped and wanted to do the right thing . I hope she is doing well , although all this drama came from it I will not let these people make me feel bad for doing the right thing .

They help bond your current rats w/ the new ones, a service I've never experienced before. I am so incredibly thankful that they are able to facilitate this, so that you don't get all the way home only to find out no one wants to be friends. They also have everything you could possibly need for your pets at amazing prices. AND they offer board and care which is so hard to find for small animals! I can't say enough good things about this place. I will definitely be back many, many more times.

Eventually she passed so our mindset shifted from "just saying hello" to finding a new family cat. Lucky for us, we found the perfect little lynx point Siamese kitten who is now the new baby of the family. The staff there are super friendly and you can tell they really care about the well-being of the cats. They aren't just dumping cats to anyone who wants one. They put a lot of thought into finding good matches for the felines. Drop by if you are on the look-out for a new cat friend whether it's a kitten or adult cat. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!…read more I have been patient in looking to add a kitten/cat to our family and stumbled across Marigold on a fosters Instagram page which prompted me to submit an application. Kat reached out the very next day after reviewing our application and pre approved us. Yelena reached out for all coordination afterwards. Marigold was not even posted on the rescues page but they were so kind and were able to get us in to meet her. The foster mom (and dad) were wonderful and have been doing this for so long (60+ kitties). We instantly fell in love with Marigold and were able to be selected to adopt her (pat on our back for being able to provide a good home). She came from a hoarder home and was lucky to survive from malnutrition. We came back to get her after getting she completed her shots/spayed. Not even 24 hours in, my one year old tabby loves her and she is settling in perfectly. I will say I have had not so great experiences with other rescues in the area and Dirty Little Paws surpassed all expectations! I hope one day I can repay them and foster another baby in need.

We notified Henry so he could get the other puppies treated, as Parvo is extremely contagious, he claimed he never had sick puppies. With just over an $8,000 vet bill and very sad hearts, we asked for a refund. Henry said he would give a refund but failed to do so. I hope that no one else has to go through what we did... a new puppy should be happy and loving. Not like the experience we had.

Not only is this a great place to adopt house…read morerabbits, they also provide services such as affordable nail trims, boarding, and very high quality mixed hay blends for reasonable prices. All the rabbit supplies from their retail store are reasonable priced and high quality. Adopting your rabbit from SDHRS instead of from a pet store or farm is one of the smartest things you can do. You will get a rabbit that has medical records, vaccinations, already fixed, microchipped, and you'll be able to interview with the staff to get an honest and detailed assessment of any issues or behaviors each rabbit may have. Another great thing is that just about any rabbit you adopt here is already going to have some basic behavioral skills like litter training and understanding of the word "No!" The class you take online before adopting is free and it gives you a really good sense of what kind of care you'll need to provide for your rabbit. There is this mistaken idea floating around that rabbits are an easy beginner pet. They're not. At all. I would say that taking care of a rabbit requires more work than the average cat, and only slightly less work than the average dog. Depending on the individual rabbit, maybe even about the same as a dog. Rabbits are not just large hamsters. Do your research! And that's why I think it's great that SDHRS offers free educational resources and even makes this a requirement of adoption. It's very necessary. There is always plenty of super easy and convenient free parking. The staff (who I believe are all volunteers) are super helpful and nice. Their policies make sense. The services and products offer are very high quality and reasonably priced. Recently I moved 300 miles away to another major city, and I found there is nowhere comparable around here! San Diego House Rabbit Society is a rare gem and you're lucky if you live close enough to it to take advantage of all their great services. Even though I had already moved by the time I was ready to adopt my second rabbit, I still chose SDHRS and made the huge trek back and forth. It was 100% worth it!

They were very well organized in orienting us and providing us with scrubs and gear for our shift. For those wanting to adopt, appointments are needed as they limit traffic to prevent spreading illness to the bunnies. Apparently, about half their adoptable rabbits are housed here in pens and the other half are lovingly fostered by local families. At the time they had about 50 rabbits available for adopting! Some of the pens were also occupied by boarded rabbits whose owners were out of town. As volunteers, we helped to clean out pens and change beddings and most rewardingly, play and cuddle with the bunnies.
