Let's get an updated review on here, shall we? I had my procedure this past week at the Highlands Ranch location after doing research on my own to figure out a better course of action for myself on my issue. Below is a neutral and fair glance at my experience for those that may be considering future surgery at this clinic. I began the process about 2 months ago- and was paired with Dr. McDermott, who was my attending physician through the entire process. She is kind, bright, thorough, and has good bedside mannerisms. Initial "visits" were consult based/online- I met her in person the day of for my procedure once we had met/spoken several times on the game plan beforehand. The morning of the procedure, I showed up an hr prior to get checked in and setup. As others have mentioned, the billing and communication with office staff is...not great. I received the cost of my procedure 2 BUSINESS DAYS prior to when I was on the books / scheduled for actual surgery- despite having asked about a ballpark estimate weeks earlier. In addition, they are a bit...disinterested, shall we say? Not the worst I've encountered, and not necessarily rude outright, just "meh" overall. Blasé, perhaps. This could be attributed to any number of things- it's the holidays, everyone is burnt out (end of year), and I'm sure they deal with a ton of jerks day to day. That said, the office staff are honestly the only reason this isn't a 5 star review. Now, back to the good - Greg (RN)- was the attending pain moderator and pre/post procedure prepper. He got IVs setup, paperwork initiated, and checked on everyone following the procedure. Even with a full roster of (3) disparate patients that day (which is a full house for them- teeny office), he was attentive, on top of things, and my god, SO KIND. Protect this man at all costs, he is a gem of a human being. Anesthesia took me out, and he was visibly concerned with my pain/discomfort when I woke up- despite me being stubborn and refusing additional medications. Speaking of anesthesia- I cannot recall the Dr.'s name who administered it, but it was a younger blonde woman- very efficient, cool girl vibes (she understood the assignment and was clearly well versed in her trade). As I was wheeled in, she breezily mentioned she would be starting medicine to "help relax me" for the procedure- and the next thing I remember was being wheeled out of surgery. Wow. Surgery was pulled off without a hitch, and my inicision site is so small/precisely done that a few days following when I removed the bandadge dressing, I had to LOOK to find the cut. Pain has been doable in the following days as long as I move slowly/intentionally, and I plan to hopefully get back to "regular" life by the end of Dec. For now, taking it a day at a time, and I'll need to wait until about mid 2024 before we know if the procedure was fully successful for my symptoms. I'm optimistic. I cannot say enough good things about this group. Dr McDermott is excellent. She preformed both my May Thurner Syndrome procedure as well as my insufficient vein procedure. After years of seeing every doctor, these women listened. My, then 24 year old daughter was practically saved from a possible life of pain that THREE GYN's both missed or passed off as "not pain" and Dr Spencer and her team gave her life back. The desk team, like Lindsay, are so kind and helpful. I did have some issues with there billing guy, but they were on top and it and it was resolved immediately. Remember, customer service is a thankless job and even harder with people in pain that have probably been dismissed by other doctors, so be kind. read more

I have been seeing Dr Warner for a few months for complicated spine pain that has included multiple minimally invasive procedures. I have been extremely pleased with his care. He has always taken as much time is needed to answer my questions and give me all of the facts. He has never pressured me to go in a certain treatment direction and instead, has guided me to the best treatment option possible. He does a great job communicating with my other doctors to make sure that we are all on the same page. It truly helps that he has been in Denver a while and is deeply connected in the medical community. His office staff is always great as well. I have recommended him to friends and loved ones that are looking for a MIPs specialist. read more

Dr. Chris Warner is truly amazing. He explained every detail of my procedure from check in to recovery & had the best bedside manner I could have asked for. The procedure was a game changer for my health & I was at a loss as to how much longer I could endure my symptoms without intervention. He went above & beyond to make sure all of my health issue was correctly diagnosed before surgery even if it meant he wouldn't be the one doing it. My hematologist referred me to MIPS and Dr. Spencer, for the worst patient experience of my entire life. I needed some leg vein work. Spencer's cheery sales pitches and promises are fake. They hide the awful truths about what patients will really experience. There are several other far more caring and competent radiologist firms within five minutes' drive from MIPS, who will treat patients with dignity and respect. Spencer's negligently insufficient communications effectively invalidate any patient consent forms. They give her a blank check to do whatever she pleases. Neither Spencer nor Taffs will inform you with even the most basic facts about a scheduled procedure. After lying about the pertinent facts beforehand to obtain my consent, Spencer and Taffs ambushed me at the office. Spencer talks a good game about veins, but she horrifically failed with every stab of her "little butterfly needles." The pain was so excruciating that I passed out from clinical shock. She would not stop, and continued her assault. She left big splotches of very painful trapped blood in my legs, some of which are still visible almost two years later. I complained to her repeatedly and in writing, but she ignored me and either could not or would not fix them. I could never have imagined such unprofessional conduct from any doctor until I met Spencer. Spencer blatantly lied about her procedure in my records, since she knew beforehand (and during) that it was totally inappropriate for me in an office setting. The meager limitations of her struggling practice offer zero options for patient comfort. If Spencer truthfully informed patients about what will happen to them, many would say "no" and choose another firm. Spencer's only priority is generating income. It has taken seven surgeries (so far) and many more thousands of dollars at a nearby radiologist firm, to try to fix Spencer's mistakes and restore my circulation. Her "minimally invasive" mistakes may require highly invasive cut-and-stitch surgery to fix. When she stabs and destroys a vein, she cannot give it back to you! You may also safely bet that she will not refund any of the tens of thousands of dollars which she charges, to harm patients. I deeply regret allowing her to make any medical treatment decisions. Dr Spencer is very nice with good bed side manners, but after over $20k in bills (only 15k covered by insurance) my legs look more hideous than ever. I went in to get my veins removed, primarily for cosmetic reasons. I only had one majorly visible and after that leg came back more bruised and I had concern on cost, Darelene the PA talked me into doing both legs, and told me the deductible would cover. There was no education to warning about the amount of out of pocket costs and just said "insurance came back that it's covered." After the first leg, my leg was bruised and full of blood. The bill to go back in 2x and drain was over $1k more, but no warning! Now, 6 months later, my leg is still black and blue and brown and I'm embarrassed to even wear shorts around the house. I also now have several visible veins that were not there before. Darlene and Dr told me this "should" fade after a year!!! Where was the warning about that before, and why has no one else who has had this done had bruising and staining for up to a year?? All of my friends who have had this done have legs that look brand new, and this should not be a complicated procedure. I fear to go back in again because of the cost and don't want more damage. I'm now looking to incur thousands more to go to another specialist to fix the damage done. I've read other good reviews for other treatments, so perhaps my advice is if you're looking for vein work and if there's any cosmetic concern, please go elsewhere. tl;dr: mis-diagnosed me, horrendous communication, and changed their minds about my procedure after telling me they could give me relief. 2 stars instead of 1 because front reception is really kind. This practice really jerked me around and had horrible communication the whole way through. I came in for ongoing extreme pelvic pain, thinking I had endometriosis, but needing to rule out pelvic venous disease. I met with a PA for the first two appointments, and had to keep pressing with questions to finally get to talk to the doctor. In both of the appointments with the PA, she had no idea how to answer any of my pretty basic questions, and she waffled and flip flopped her answers a ton. At my second appointment, to review my CT scan results, she was finally perfectly clear about a couple things: "you have pelvic venous disease, on your right side, you do not have any evidence of endometriosis, and this is the surgery we are going to do with you." She could not, however, answer most of my follow up questions, and for many questions again waffling and changing her answers a couple seconds later. For example, she tells me they are going to put platinum beads in my vein, and not going to shut it down, just redirect flow. This was after she said they would shut the vein down completely, changing her answer. She also discussed a stent, but was not very clear about the purpose or need for it. So she scheduled me to (finally) talk to the doctor at a third appointment. In the meantime, I schedule my surgery for shortly after the third appointment. I also schedule and complete my allergy test, as the they required, to make sure that I won't be allergic to the metals going into my body during the procedure. For the allergy test, they put many metals on my skin, as well as two full pieces of the stent material on my arm (which I still have a scar from). I come prepared to the third appointment with all my questions, which I have sent ahead of time to make sure they are prepared. The appointment is with both the doctor and the PA who has been mis-communicating, and also with someone new. Before I can even get into my questions, the doctor explains to me that actually I might have endometriosis (as if I never said that to them before), and they won't do the surgery on me because actually my vein is not distended enough, and they said (twice!) that they need their rates of success with these surgeries to be high, completely dismissing the fact that I am a human being in pain sitting right in front of them, needing care, and how their "numbers" might be relevant to me. Also completely ignoring the fact that they diagnosed me and scheduled me for surgery less than a week later. And that they required me to do an allergy test, which I did not need because they were not going to do the surgery on me, including the stent, which they were never going to put in my body because the stent would go in the left vein, which they said looked perfectly healthy. When I asked follow up questions about what they think is going on in my body, they repeatedly gave answers like "this is normal, don't worry about it" instead of actually explaining to me what is happening to my body now, or could happen later. They refer me to an endo specialist gyno, and after I insist on answers about my leg pain, they schedule me for an x ray of my leg, 6 weeks from then. With the PA again, and not the doctor. In the meantime, I am in ongoing pain, I have communicated all of this to my other doctors, and scheduled my life around this surgery. In the appointment they were cold, dismissive, and treated me like I was a nuisance for asking basic questions about what is going on with my body. Not to mention mis-diagnosing me. I did not even confront them about their change of plans. I stayed factual and asked factual questions, in a calm voice, without any accusation, to avoid any confrontation. And I still got treated this way. The woman who referred me here warned me that there were some pretty intense personalities at this practice, so I was prepared. She told me that they refused to do a follow up MRI to make sure her procedure was successful. So I was prepared for a bit of stress, but nothing like this. I would absolutely not go to this practice. I have started working with a new doctor elsewhere, and they are WORLDS better and treat me like a human being, not body parts and a pocketbook. At this new practice, I get to talk to a doctor right away, without needing to ask at all, and he is happy to explain answers to my questions and make sure I understand what's going on with my body. And the new doctors have confirmed that I should never have been diagnosed with pelvic venous disease, and they have found cysts and fibroids that the doctors at MIPS (and my gyno) should have spotted the whole time. Do not put yourself through the stress of working with MIPS. read more
